Chapter 4~ The Offer
"I can't believe this! I'm so embarrassed!" I groaned, covering my face with my hands as Noah helped me into the tiny chair that was wedged underneath my work desk.
Noah's eyes glazed over as he laughed, no doubt remembering the debacle we had just encountered.
"It's not funny!" I insisted and chucked an eraser at him. After I fainted, Mr Manolis had had to call the ambulance because I wouldn't wake up and he'd feared I had a concussion. They made me stay in the hospital for hours making sure that I wasn't concussed or going to faint again. The doctors weren't entirely sure why I had fainted, but their best guess was that the stress of the haunted house and shock from Mr Manolis' news had just been too much for me to handle.
"You're right, I'm sorry." Noah informed me as he tried to sober up.
I rolled my eyes. "Liar."
"My girlfriend the published journalist." Noah grinned, lounging back on my bed and placing his hands behind his neck in the picture of ease.
I squealed with joy just hearing him say 'published' and 'journalist' in the same sentence. It was like a freaking dream come true.
Hearing Noah call me his girlfriend always sweetened the deal a little, too.
"I'm so shocked I think I'm gonna throw up." I admitted, shakily standing up and crashing down on the bed next to Noah. He wrapped his arms around me automatically, pulling me into his chest. I sighed and closed my eyes in a state of absolute bliss, wanting to stay in this perfect moment forever.
Noah chuckled. "Are you sure you're not still concussed from fainting?"
"If I do throw up, I'll make sure to aim for you." I warned.
It was only then I realized how absolutely exhausted I was. Yawning widely, I glanced at the digital clock on the nightstand. "Holy crap, it's almost 2am!" I cried in disbelief. Noah nodded sleepily, even with his eyes half-closed managing to look attractive.
"We were at the hospital for five hours, Lil Cupid." He mumbled so quietly I had to strain to hear him. I raised my eyebrows and moved to sit up, but Noah's arm dragged me back down onto the bed with incredible strength and he shook his head. "You're not going anywhere."
I tried to lift his arm off of me again but he wasn't having it, so instead I sighed and nestled myself into the protective shield that was Noah's body.
Guess I'd just have to skip the teeth brushing tonight. If I had morning breath, it would be Noah's fault.
I threw my arm out of the blankets to turn the lamp off and we became drenched in darkness.
Noah's chin rested on my shoulder and I could feel his breath tickling my cheek softly. His muscled arms looped around my stomach and our legs tangled together. In Noah's embrace I felt safe and protected, like nothing could even come close to me. It was a wonderful feeling, while it lasted. The only downside to loving someone this much was that it hurt so much more when he left come Sunday evening.
Pushing thoughts of the end of the weekend out of my head, I took a deep steadying breath and relaxed, letting myself drift off into a peaceful sleep.

"Do you have enough gas? Money? Do you need me to put the route into your phone?" I asked worriedly as Noah gathered the rest of his belongings and shoved them into his backpack.
Noah rolled his eyes at me fondly. "No, Cupid. I'm good, thanks."
I sighed and nodded, following him out of the dorms towards my allocated parking spot that he had taken since I didn't have a car. I stood on the kerb and watched him pack the car, feeling a wave of regret wash over me.
"Hey." Noah said, noticing my expression. "Friday night will come around again before you know it. You're taking the train down to Temple right? Because if you don't want to I can always come here again."
I shook my head. "No, I'll come and see you. It's unfair if you keep having to drive here and besides, I'd like to see JC again." I gave Noah a warm smile and he pulled me into a kiss, his hands resting on my cheeks.
"I'll call you." He promised.
"You better."
And then he got in his car and drove away.
I waited until his car was no longer in sight before I made my way back to my dorm room, feeling bittersweet. It was only as I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop that I noticed I'd received a new email from an unknown address. I clicked the little mail icon and scanned through the message, my eyes widening.
Holy. Crabcakes.
It was from Peter Manolis.
And he wanted me to intern at his LA office.
Hey loves! Short sweet chapter for you there, with a lil' bit of mush haha. Hope you're liking the story so far, do you think she'll go to LA?
Thanks for reading, have a wonderful weekend! :)
