(Y/N) POV

I dragged the gem hybrid towards the center of the gem city. It took a little doing but I managed to make it so that when I contact the Diamonds, they'll not be able to see the hybrid and the field of bubbled gems before I decide to show it to them. Strangely, yet fortunately, the traitorous Crystal Gems had a direct line to the diamonds, hidden in the coat of the strange hybrid. That curly haired, what were they called, human? That human had a shield, like Rose Quartz was supposed to. With the gem at the core of his being, there is no doubt in my mind that he is the hybrid "offspring" (I think that's what it's called) between Rose Quartz and a human. Heh, the madgem. She had to know that the seed of these bioforms can't provide the materials to allow her to produce a gem. Still, I respect her for choosing the life of her spawn over her own. I don't know if I would be able to make that decision.

I activate the line to the diamonds, setting it to call Blue Diamond. My Diamond probably thinks I've been shattered; she will be pleased to see me alive, let alone beholding the breadth of my achievement in having completely annihilated and captured the Crystal Gem rebels. The line to the diamonds transforms into a blue screen, as Blue Diamonds beautiful Blue Pearl appears on the screen. Blue Pearl: "Who is trying to contact- *gasp*." (Y/N): "That's right Pearl... It's me, Iolite. I am alive, and I have a message for Blue Diamond." I can hear Blue Diamond in the background, as she takes the screen. Blue Diamond: "Pearl, who is that? Why do they sound so- *gasp*! Iolite, you're alive!" I missed her sweet brogue. (Y/N): "Yes, My Diamond!" I perform the diamond salute. (Y/N): "I am alive! A traitorous Agate tampered with my ship. Sent me way off course, and left me without Hyperdrive, or any communications! I have been steadily heading to Earth for over 6000 years! But finally, I have arrived!" My Diamond, and her Pearl, looked relieved at my survival. At this moment, the hybrid behind me stirred and groaned. My Diamond looked confused.

(Y/N): "Ah, yes. My Diamond; I may be thousands of years late, but I did not fail in my duties! Were the armies of the diamonds have failed, I alone have succeeded!" At this I turned to show My Diamond the bubbled army of the Crystal Gems and their tied up hybrid leader. (Y/N): "I fought the entire rebel army, alone, and defeated them all! I have bubbled all of them for safe transport, and even overcame the; get this; hybrid child of Rose Quartz!"

The look on Blue Diamonds face was... less impressed and more horrified... Blue Diamond: "You, WHAT?!?" I recoiled in shock. She was furious. Steven: "Uhhh... What happened...?" Blue Diamond: "Steven!? Are you alright?!" I turned to look towards the hybrid, now identified as 'Steven'. My Diamond sounded so worried about him; what the hell is going on? Steven: "My head hurts, but I think im-" At this, he noticed I had tied him up. Steven: "I can't move!" Blue Diamond: "Iolite untie him this instant!" Her tone left no room for argument. I brought 'Steven' over to the screen as I started to untie him. (Y/N): "What is going on? He's the rebel leader, why am I setting him free?" Blue Diamond: "Iolite, how ignorant are you?! That's-" Steven: "Wait! Hold on Blue Diamond!" Blue Diamond stopped, and looked towards 'Steven'. Why did she listen to him, why does she care so much for these rebels?

Steven: "You're Iolite, right?" The hybrid addresses me. (Y/N): "Yeah, why?" Steven: "The ship you were on had no way to talk to other gem planets or ships right?" (Y/N): "Get to the point." 'Steven' then turned to address Blue Diamond. Steven: "He has no idea what's happened in the last few years." (Y/N): "The Empire doesn't change much. How much could I possibly have missed?" At my mention of The Empire, Blue Diamond looked a bit... melancholic (well, more so than usual) and 'Steven' shook his head. Steven: "Well, for one thing, The Empire was disbanded, and peace brought throughout the Galaxy." My blood ran cold. The Empire was gone and there was a new age of peace? What? How? Why? When? Steven: "Yeah. Thanks to me." I could feel myself getting angry. This hybrid ended The Gem Empire?! 'Steven' could see the hate growing in my eyes. Steven: "Ok, hold on, let me explain! This is kind of a lot to take in." I took a deep breath. (Y/N): "Ok 'Steven'. Fine. Explain yourself." Blue Diamond looked like she wanted to reprimand me for talking to 'Steven' in such a manner, but why?

Steven: "Ok, first of all, the 'rebellion' is over. My mom, Rose Quartz, was actually Pink Diamond. She faked her own shattering." (Y/N): "LIAR!" I roared at him. Blue Diamond: "Hold your tongue Iolite! It is as he says, he is the son of Pink Diamond, and she was the one that lead the rebellion to protect Earth." I... There's no way this can be true... But if My Diamond vouches for his story, then it must be! I stagger back in shock. (Y/N): "So, rather than arriving on Earth to fight off rebels, I landed here at a perfectly normal gem city, and then massacred its inhabitants without pity or remorse, ending with my assault of a diamond?" My voice rings hollow and distant in my ears. Blue Diamond looks concerned; I have never sounded so... dead, for lack of a better term, before. Her beautiful Pearl even walked into view of the screen, curious as to what's going on. 'Steven' did not appear to notice my tone. Steven: "Massacred is a bit strong, you didn't shatter anyone; thank you for that by the way. We just need to unbubble everyone and then explain..." 'Steven' kept talking, but I couldn't hear him. I was in too much shock. Even the voice was silent. Stunned, that the universe had become somewhere where there was no place for the violence and death, that I was made to bring. That I am a vicious warrior, with no more battles to fight forever. That all that I am has brought this new way of being, in the extremely short time I've been active in it, nothing but pain and misery. I never knew, the depths of despair I could be brought to, before this moment. I know now what I must do.

(Y/N): "I understand now." I cut 'Steven' off. Steven: "You do?" He looked hopeful, as did Blue Diamond. (Y/N): "I am a proud Iolite warrior." I raised up one of my arms, and held it out at my side, so that my hand was at the same level as my gem on my chest. I made a fist. (Y/N): "There is no place for me in this new Empire." The smile ran from 'Steven's' face, as My Diamond and her Pearl looked concerned. Steven: "What? No that's-" (Y/N): "In the short time I have been here, I have brought only violence and war to a peaceful people. And if I stay, I know I will bring destruction and execution to this world as well." Blue Diamond: "Iolite, it's ok. You-" (Y/N): "My soul is death and misery, and I will burden you with it no longer STEVEN!" And with that (how ironic that my most eloquent speech was an apology note) I slammed my fist into my own gem, cracking it horrendously.

(Y/N): "Gaah!!" I fall to the ground, curled over into a ball, my arms around my chest. It hurts like a bastard! Steven: "What the!?!" Blue Diamond and her Pearl gasp in shock and horror. (Y/N): "Damn it! I knew it would hurt so I hesitated! Great job, now it just hurts worse instead of being a clean shatter! Stupid!" I raise up my other arm to prepare the final blow. Blue Diamond: "Steven, stop him!" Blue Pearl: "Save him Steven, please!" 'Steven' rushes to my side and brings up his shield, stopping my fist from reaching my gem. He looked into my eyes, and I saw only kindness and a desire to help me in his own. (Y/N): "Why did you stop me?" Steven: "You don't have to shatter yourself!" He licked his hand then placed it on my gem. The pain went away almost instantly as the numerous cracks repaired themselves. It seems the rumors of Rose Quartz being able to heal gems were not only true, but her offspring has the same ability. I rose to my feet.

(Y/N): "Why did you do that? I will only hurt you and the people of this world if I stay. I am made for war, and nothing else. The Empire has no need of me. Better to die now then destroy all you have built. I do not fit in this new world."

Blue Diamond suddenly looked like she had an idea. Blue Diamond: "Then in that case, Iolite, I have new orders for you." I snapped at attention, performing the diamond salute. A part of me desperate for a new reason to live. Blue Diamond: "Since it was Steven that changed the galaxy and made it a place where your talents are no longer required, it is only fair that Steven be the one to teach you how to live in this new world." She nodded to 'Steven', who nodded back in agreement. I have my doubts. Blue Diamond: "You are hereby under the command of Steven Universe, the Pink Diamond, until such time as you are deemed properly educated in the ways of the new era of peace." I saluted My Diamond. (Y/N): "Yes, My Diamond!" I turned to 'Steven', well, I guess just Steven, no need for quotation. (Y/N): "I guess that means I take orders from you now." Steven: "You don't have to-" (Y/N): "Not everyone wants the burden of freedom, and not everyone deserves the tyranny of free choice." Steven looked confused. Steven: "What?" I pinch the bridge of my nose in frustration. (Y/N): "I want to follow your orders." Steven looked a bit taken aback. Steven: "Well... ok, I guess." (Y/N): "We can talk about that later. Right now, *Performs Diamond Salute* what are your orders Pink Diamond?" Steven: "Call me Steven." (Y/N): "Yes, My Dia- I mean, Steven!" Blue Diamond bids us farewell as her Pearl waves goodbye and closes the line. 

I sigh. (Y/N): "So, what happens now?" Steven looks over at the field of bubbled gems. Steven: "Well, we should pop all those bubbles and explain your situation to the gems." (Y/N): "Bad idea." Steven looked confused. Steven: "Why?" I gestured to the large field of bubbled gems, then to my massive, imposing form. (Y/N): "The last thing most of these gems remember is me utterly ruining their day and destroying their town." I motion towards the ruined gem city. I've probably set back the construction a year or two. I'd've leveled it if I really tried, but I wanted to contact My Diamond as soon as possible. (Y/N): "Even if we explain my situation, they are not going to trust me at all. Simply seeing you standing near me will probably cause them to try to poof me right there. We need to make them less afraid of me." Steven: "How do we do that?" 

(Y/N): "Simple. I fight them, and then, after a good showing, I give them a win."
