Jade became friends with Ryan and Roger quickly and before her sixteenth birthday, she met Brian May, Freddie Bulsara, Tim Staffell and Les Brown, all friends of her brother Marcos.

Jade made a list of what the band Smile could play. She had realized that Freddie had a great voice to sing and that he wanted to be in the band, but he did not dare ask the boys, but he had become a big fan of the band Smile.

Jade's sixteenth birthday came quickly.

Sunday, July 13, 1969.

Jade's sixteen-year-old birthday party began around noon, until the evening, at the pub, which was closed, only for the guests. There were many classmates from Jade, especially his friends Alicia, Jessica, Philip and James.

Alicia and Jessica were talking to Jade about boys.

"I've noticed the close proximity between Roger and Ryan with you, my friend," Alicia smiled. "And they're both beautiful.

"They're older than I am," Jade grinned. "Ryan turned twenty last month, and Roger will be twenty on the twenty-sixth of that month.

- And what's wrong? Jessica smiled. "Can not you see the way they look at you?"

Jade grinned at her friend.

- Jess, that's your impression . I'm just friends with Roger and Ryan, that's all. "Jade smirked.

"And if one of them wanted to date you, would you, Jade?" Jessica asked smiling. "Who would you choose?"

- Both are beautiful my friend, each with its beauty, but, I prefer Ryan - said Alicia.

"And I prefer Roger," Jessica said. "And you, Jade, who would choose, for example, if they both said they were in love with you."

Jade looked at Roger and Ryan who were chatting in the boys' group and Philip and James were with them. Jade looked at the beauty of Ryan and Roger and would not know who to choose, she would have to choose at some point, but, she would not know who ...

"Girls, I honestly do not know," Jade said. "As I said Ryan and Roger are my friends, they became great friends, that's all. And they're older than me.

"They're not so old compared to us," Alicia smiled. "At some point you'll have to choose, my friend.

Once again Jade looked at Ryan and Roger and sighed. The truth was that his heart was still racing for them.

About four o'clock in the afternoon, everyone sang Jade's congratulations and she cut the cake, giving the first piece to her parents and brother, and then served cake and sweets to the guests. At five o'clock in the afternoon, the band Smile climbed the small stage and performed for all and were applauded. Roger, Brian and Tim played some of their songs and songs from The Beatles, The Who, Elvis Presley, The Animals, and others. The band performed for an hour and fifteen minutes.

"Thank you all, it was a pleasure to play on Jade's sixteenth birthday, again, congratulations, Jade," Tim said into the microphone.

Roger standing behind the battery looked at Jade and smiled at her affectionately, and Jade smiled back.

After the boys finished performing, Tim, Brian and Roger dismantled the instruments and put them in the blond drummer's car. After the band's presentation, Jade hugged the guys very happy.

- You guys are very talented, congratulations, I just loved the band performance, like all my friends - Smiled the birthday girl.

"We were so happy that you loved the band's performance, Jade," Brian smiled beautifully, hugging her.

"We're happy to show up for your birthday," Tim smiled.

"Again, congratulations, Jade." Roger smiled as he pulled her by the arm.

- Where are you taking me? She asked smiling and Roger led her into the parking lot and opened the door of her car and handed her her gift.

"This is your birthday present, I hope you like it," said the smiling blond looking at Jade.

Jade opened the big package and saw that it was The Who's new album called Tommy.

"Rog, I loved the present." Jade smiled at the blonde and hugged him tightly. "Thank you for the beautiful gift.

"No need to thank Jade, again happy birthday, Princess." Roger smiled at her.

At that moment Ryan approaches the two smiling.

"So, Rog, have you delivered your gift to Jade?" - Ryan said smiling.

"Yes, I did," Roger smiled.

Ryan approaches Jade and hands her his gift, which was a silver chain with the hippie symbol.

"I also loved your present, Ryan," Jade smiled at Ryan.

The three of them entered the pub again and began to dance with the others.

Ryan danced Jade's song My Generation from The Who and Roger danced Jade to Revolution with The Beatles.

After dancing with Jade, Roger was so happy that he approached Brian and told his friend,

"I trust you, Bri, then, please do not tell anyone what I'll tell you, at least not now."

"You can talk to my friend, you can trust me," Brian smiled.

"I'm in love with Jade, I'm liking her like I've never liked another girl," Roger said.

"Wow," Brian smiled. "Congratulations, my brother, I hope this sentiment is matched.

"Thank you Bri," Roger said. "That's what I want to see if I'll be matched if Jade feels the same way. I'll tell Ryan tonight about my feeling with Jade.

"I'm sure Ryan will support you, my friend," Brian smiled.

The party lasted until seven at night and the boys stayed until the end.

Later that evening, when Roger, Les and Ryan were already at the apartment, they were joking about Jade's birthday, which was very good.

Before Ryan slept, he went to Roger's bedroom.

"Can we talk, my brother?" Ryan asked.

"Yes, we can," Roger said, smiling. "I want to talk to you, too.

"Great, my brother," Ryan smiled. "I want to tell you something very important.

- Oh really? So come on, my friend, now I'm curious - Roger said smiling - You can trust me.

"Rog, I'm in love, but I still do not know if I'll be matched, only time will tell," Ryan said smiling.

"And who are you in love with?" Roger asked suspiciously looking at his friend.

"I'm in love with Jade," Ryan said enthusiastically.

Roger was surprised by the news and did not respond. Ryan realized that his friend was silent.

"Did you hear what I said, Rog?" I'm in love with Jade. Are not you happy for me? Ryan asked looking at his best friend.

"That's not it, Ryan," Roger said looking at him, trying to disguise his disappointment. "I'm just surprised, because Jade is still under eighteen. You have to analyze if she feels the same for you and if by chance the feeling is reciprocal, you should talk to Jade's parents and our friend Marcos. I do not know how he will react to this news.

"I know that, Rog, but if Jade was in love with me, I would do anything, face anyone, to stay with her." Ryan smiled at his friend.

"I hope Jade feels the same way about you, Ryan," Roger said, smiling a little, but sadly.

"Thank you, Rog, I'll need your support," Ryan said, hugging his friend, and Roger closed his eyes to keep from crying. "What did you have to talk to me?"

"I honestly forgot, Ryan," Roger said, changing the subject. "I forgot what I would tell you, if I remind you, I'll let you know."

"Okay Rog," Ryan smiled.

Roger was devastated by the news, as he is also in love with Jade, but, Roger considers Ryan as a brother, the two are childhood friends and he will hide as much as he feels for Jade, so as not to hurt his childhood friend.

During the night Roger could not sleep thinking about Jade and Ryan and how things would be going forward.
