jealousy

a/n: this flashback might depict Jordan as a "bad guy." But I swear it's not Jordan slander. I just want to showcase their relationship and how bad things were between them.

Flashback: 6-ish Months Ago-

"Who the hell is that guy, Evelyn? I'm not gonna ask again!"

Evelyn threw her head back in annoyance. She and Jordan had been arguing nonstop for the past couple of weeks and it was getting exhausting. He was constantly jealous about any guy that went near her and that wasn't a part of their "inner circle." Their arguing got so bad that even their friends were annoyed.

"Jordan, can we not do this here?" she hissed, snatching her phone back from his hand. "I think our friends are sick of listening to you run your mouth."

Layla, Asher, and JJ stared across the pool table in the cafe at the couple wide-eyed. They were just there to just hang out but Jordan had seen his girlfriend's phone vibrating uncontrollably and took it from her back pocket. The text messages from an unknown number popping up on her phone and making him upset.

"Run my mouth?" he scoffed. "You're the one not being honest. You're probably cheating on me."

She responded sarcastically. "Oh, I'd be so lucky."

"What the hell's that supposed to mean?" he spat, angrily.

"It means that I'm so sick of you," she groaned. "Honestly we should just br—"

"Guys!" Layla intervened. "We can all hear you...Um, I think I speak for all of us when I say please go outside. Or stop arguing."

"See?" Evelyn scoffed, bumping her shoulder against Jordan's as she walked away. "Told you they were sick of you!"

"Me?" he groaned. "You're the one receiving messages from some guy."

She crossed her arms across her chest and tapped her foot as they stood outside of the cafe. "And what makes you think the messages were from a guy? Hmm?"

"I don't know," he scoffed. "Your only friends are Layla and my sister. Layla is literally here with us and my sister is at home. Plus, the number isn't saved. You're obviously hiding something. That's like cheater 101."

"Did you even read the messages, Jordan?" she asked.

He shook his head. "No."

She pulled her phone out, unlocking it, and handing it over to her boyfriend. "Do you think I'm cheating now?"

Jordan felt stupid as he read the text messages from a random classmate from her fourth period, reminding her to turn in her share of the project they were working on.

"Evelyn, I'm so sorry," he sighed.

"Yeah," she scoffed. "You should be. I'm gonna walk home because I don't think I can deal with being in a car with you or I'll literally jump out while it's moving."

Jordan stood speechless watching as his girlfriend had once again walked away from him. Regret flashing through him, knowing that he was so quick to blame her and not even bother to hear her out first.

end of flashback-

Another Friday night another football game. Evelyn, Olivia, and Layla had all sat on the bleachers and watched as the Beverly Eagles won yet another football game. Meaning they'd be playing in the State Championships against South Crenshaw.

"Hey, come with me to talk to Asher? I want to congratulate him," Liv said, grabbing her friend's hand.

"Actually, I have to talk to your brother but, I'll meet you at my car. I have to give him his stuff back," Evelyn told her running off to her car where Jordan was waiting for her.

Jordan let out an exasperated sigh, pushing his weight off of her car. "You've been avoiding me."

"No, you've been a hard guy to track down," she corrected, opening her trunk. "Um, so, this is just a bunch of your stuff that you left at my house or that you've given to me."

"Evelyn...what is this? I thought we were getting back together," he sighed. "I don't want this stuff back. Just take more time, please?"

"Jordan what the hell am I supposed to do with your size 12 shoes? Its not like I can wear them!" she groaned. "And I've taken enough time...I don't think us getting back together is a good idea."

"According to who? Your brother or you?" he questioned.

"Don't bring my brother into this," she said. "I can't be with someone I don't trust. I'm sorry."

"Keep the stuff. I'll do whatever I have to do to prove that I'm ready to be with you," Jordan told her, shutting her trunk closed and walking away.

Liv noticed her brother finally walk away and quickly approached her friend. "That didn't look too good."

"He clearly doesn't understand what, I don't think us getting back together is a good idea, means," she scoffed.

"It's all the hits to the head," Liv giggled, tapping her head. "So, I was talking to Asher and I noticed his dad was...drunk. Seemed pretty weird. Should I ask him about it?"

"Why the hell are you so obsessed with Asher, lately?" Evelyn snapped. "Don't you have a boyfriend? Chris Jackson, goes to South Crenshaw? Remember him?"

"I'm not obsessed with him," Liv said, getting defensive. "And I know that I have a boyfriend."

"Sure," she ridiculed, lifting her eyebrows up. "If I was Chris I'd hate if my girlfriend was spending all her time obsessing over a guy she had sex with."

Liv was caught by surprise at the sudden hostility from her friend. "You know what, Evelyn? I think I'll catch a ride back with Jordan. I don't know why your mood just did a full 180 but I'll give you some space. Come talk to me when you're ready to be my friend."

Evelyn sighed, instantly regretting the words that had come out of her mouth. But it was too late to call Liv back since she had already caught up with her brother.

"Surprised you didn't show up at the cafe today," Enrique said, walking into his sister's room the following day after the football game. "All your friends were there."

"All my friends?" she scoffed. "You mean my ex-boyfriend and his twin sister who's probably super upset with me?"

"Why is Liv upset with you?" he asked.

She shrugged. "Because I'm a bitch. A real bitch."

He nodded in agreement. "True. But...elaborate."

"I kind of went off on her last night," she sighed fiddling with her comforter. "She tried to talk to me about something having to do with Asher and I just completely shut her down and made a snarky comment about how if I was Chris I wouldn't want my girlfriend spending time with a guy I hooked up with. I was just upset about Jordan."

"Upset about Jordan?" he asked. "Or upset about her spending time with Asher?"

"What? I would never be upset about them spending time together," she scoffed.

"Alejandro likes to sleep in my room sometimes and he kind of spilled that Asher was spending the night. So, I checked your room because Asher wasn't in the guest room and I found him in your bed," Enrique pointed out. "You two were basically spooning. If you guys didn't look so peaceful I would've made him leave."

"It was completely innocent. We fell asleep and it was just an instinct. That's all," she shrugged, avoiding eye contact with him. "I don't like Asher and he doesn't like me. But, I was upset because I tried to end things with Jordan for good and he said no."

He raised his eyebrow in response. "Do I need to have a chat with Jordan?"

"No...Maybe, I should give him another chance," she said, looking down at her manicured nails.

"Don't be an idiot, Evelyn," he scoffed. "You obviously don't want to get back together with him."

She sighed dramatically, falling back into her fluffy array of pillows. "Yeah, I know."

"Well, if you were at the cafe you'd know there's a party tonight at—"

"Chris's house," she cut him off, pulling her phone out. "Yeah, I know. I got a super funny text from him saying, hey miss Beverly Hills it's the guy who told you to shut your mouth at Spencer's cookout a while back. I'm having a party at my crib tonight. You're invited."

Her brother's face scrunched up in confusion. "He said what to you?"

"Not important," she giggled. "Now, get out. I have an outfit to pick out for tonight."

Enrique pointed a finger at her. "Dress like you have parents who love you. Got it?"

"Go away!" she yelled.

As Evelyn sifted through her closet she was indecisive as to what to wear for the party. She didn't really know what to wear for a house party in Crenshaw but, she decided on dressing as she normally would to any party. She settled on a white mini skirt paired with a dark blue top with a deep v that showed off her cleavage and part of her midriff and opted for a pair of sneakers rather than a pair of heels.

Her brother scrunched his face up at her outfit. "Gross."

"Back at you," she mumbled, throwing his keys at him. "Drive."

"No, why do I have to be DD?" he whined.

"Because I deserve to have some fun tonight," she replied, getting into the passenger seat of his convertible. "I won't get too drunk. Don't worry."

The two pulled up to a small one story house in Crenshaw and immediately heard the sound of the beat pulsing through the ground as they walked up to the door. Evelyn immediately opened the door and walked out to the back and went straight for the drinks.

"Hey," Jordan greeted, watching Evelyn sip her beer.

"Hey," she smiled, roaming her eyes over his figure. "You look good."

"So do you," he told her. "I mean, you always do..."

Evelyn took a step closer to her ex-boyfriend as they pretty much stood face to face and craned her neck up to look at him. "Are you okay? You seem off."

"You've always been able to read me like a book, Evie," he sighed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and sweetly stroking his thumb on her face.

"Jordan," she mumbled, pushing his hand away. "I can't go there with you again. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Look, whatever you're going through you'll get through it. I should go somewhere else."

"Evelyn!" Jordan called after her, watching as she walked away from him.

Ignoring his calls, she quickly found Layla inside of the house and made her way over to her. "Hey, Layla."

"Hey, Evie," Layla said, giving her a hug. "Have you spoken to Liv?"

She shook her head no. "We're not really speaking at the moment. Why?"

"The Baker twins are kind of going through a lot right now," Layla sighed. "I shouldn't be telling you this but, Jordan probably needs you. Uh, Mr. Baker had an affair with Spencer's mom a couple of years back and they literally found out like, right before they came here."

"Oh, no," Evelyn mumbled. "I completely ignored Jordan out there. He seemed off and I walked away because I thought we were getting too close. I feel terrible. I should check on him."

"I'll walk with you out there. I think Spencer's out there, too," Layla told her.

As the two girls walked out to the backyard they watched as Jordan was engaging in a fight with Cam. The other guys there quickly ran over to pull them off of each other resulting in Chris kicking the Beverly residents out of his party.

"I'll see you later," Evelyn told Layla. "Unless you need me?"

"No, no, you should go after him...both of them," Layla told her.

Giving her one last hug, Evelyn quickly ran after Jordan and Liv. "Jordan! Wait, please!"

"No, Evelyn. I don't want to hear some stupid ass lecture from my ex-girlfriend," Jordan snapped.

"Look, Layla told me what happened with your dad and Spencer's mom," she said. "I know it wasn't her place. But, she thought I should know and I'm sorry."

"Are you done? Great," Jordan seethed, glaring down at her. "You can leave now."

"Jordan!" Liv piped up, hitting her brother on his arm.

"No, it's fine," Evelyn sighed. "I'll leave."
