ten: pet my ass

Detention had finally ended, but the air was still thick between the two. They walked together to the school entrance. To make the silence less awkward, Jeongguk asked the older if he wanted to join him and the boys for a little roasting party.

"A roasting party? Like, do y'all just roast each other? Your mama jokes?" Taehyung had questioned.

Jeongguk did his best not to slap the boy. "No you idiot, like campfire and shit."

"I know, I know. I was just trying to make you laugh. Gosh, why are you so cold?"

"Whatever," Jeongguk muttered harshly, and began taking the lead to wherever they were going. The walk wasn't long. They had to go through a weird trail before getting into an old rusted railway track. Just a little farther up is where the meeting spot should be. Taehyung has been here before, heck he's the one even found this quiet gem.

"You don't think guys'll be pissed you're bringing me along?" the brunet questioned.

"More than pissed, they'll be fuming, but it's all just pretend. They miss you."

"They miss me?"

"Yeah. Why else do you think I'm bringing you?"

"Hmm, Jeon Jeongguk actually has a heart, huh? And here I thought you were ice cold, seems like there's hope for you after all."

"Do you ever shut up?"

"No, not really."

Jeongguk only rolled his eyes and walked some more. Eventually, they reached the site where the boys were walking around, setting things up.

"Yo," the red-head greeted, catching all their attentions.

Smiles from all of their faces faded as they saw who had joined them. Namsoon scowled. "What's he doing here?"

"Yeah, Jeon, why are you friends with traitors?" Minhae said, lips forming a frown.

"Yah! Jung Minhae! When did you learn to talk?" Taehyung spoke up as he smiled.

Minhae was taken aback by how casual he sounded. He also didn't expect Taehyung to actually approach him.

"Have you gotten taller? How come I've never noticed. Oh my, just a few more years and you'll be as tall as me!"

The boy wasn't quite used to such a bubbly Taehyung. Sure he was a jokester, but never this cheerful.

"Uh, yeah. Over the summer," he answered quietly. The boys watched as Taehyung ruffled the younger's hair.

"You still haven't answered our question," Minki disrupted them.

"Chill guys, I'm just trying to remind him on what he's missing out," Jeongguk cut in.

"Pft. Like he misses this, he's having the time of his life with his new friends. Taehyung, just leave."

Taehyung pouted. "Oh c'mon, I'm the one that even found this place, I have as much rights to be here as y'all!"

"Then we'll just leave."

"Guys," Jeongguk said, although it sounded more like a warning. "Just ignore that he's here."

The boys looked at one another before sighing and continuing on with whatever they were doing before the two had entered into the scene.

"Where's the marshmallows?" the youngest of them all questioned.

"Minki was supposed to bring it."

Minki quickly shook his head. "No I brought it last week. Wasn't it Saejoon?."

"What? No! I'm next week. Jensoo was supposed to bring it!" Saejoon yelled.

"Me? Didn't we decide Jeongguk was bringing it?"

"You fucktard, you need to get your ears checked. We said Jensoo, not Jeongguk."

The guys all began yelling and Jensoo for forgetting the most important thing.

"Okay, let's pack up," Namsoon began, and the boys followed.

"Wait, what, why?" one of the newest additions asked.

"Oh right, you don't know. Rule number one, no fucking marshmallows, no fu—" Namsoon stopped as he realized who was there.

Taehyung smiled, remembering the dumb rules he made up when he first introduced the place to the rest of the gang. "—no fucking campfire," he finished off, a chuckle passing his lips. "You all still remember I see."

"How can we forget?" Saejoon said, eyes not being able to meet anything but the ground.

Taehyung frowned, a sigh escaping his lips. "Look, guys, I know it was a dick move for me to leave the group like that, but you have to listen that whatever the fuck we were doing, and what you're all still doing is wrong. I didn't want to vandalize schools anymore, crash cars, steal, waste money, fucking snort random shit. It may have been fun but one day all that guilt will hit. I don't want you guys to keep building up onto that."

Everyone stood still, no one knowing what to say. Jeongguk wasn't quite surprised, he watched he boys crumple down in front of him with an amused smile. He was astonished to see the power Taehyung truly held.

"Guys?" the brunet called out.

The awkward silence began to get way too uncomfortable for their own good. "Uhm, I'll go buy some marshmallows," Jensoo spoke first. It was as if he gave oxygen to all the boys as they were finally able to move and continue on with what each was to do.

"Get some fire wood with me," Jeongguk said to the depressed boy.

Taehyung looked up with big eyes, upset none of the boys even spared a glance at him. He kind of hoped someone would give him a look of reassurance, that he wasn't hated by everyone, and the one nearest to him was Jeongguk, who as usual, emotionless.

"Sure."

The two walked deeper into the trees, looking for any fallen branches silently.

"Why do you even bother?" Jeongguk asked.

"What d'you mean?"

"Why are you trying to change us, what good does it do to you?"

"Those guys. They were my friends, my best friends. I care about them, more than they think they I do. I need to end what I started. And you, hate to admit it Jeon but I'm developing a soft spot for you. "

"Soft spot, my ass," Jeongguk mumbled under his breath, words barely going heard.

Taehyung whipped his head to look at the younger, choking on his own spit, eyes wide. "Did you just ask me to pet your ass?" He genuinely didn't hear.

"The fuck? No I didn't. Why would I even ask that?"

"I don't know, maybe you're trying to seduce me for your take over the world plan."

"Seduce you? Bitch please. And I wouldn't seduce any one with pet my ass."

"Well Jeon, hate to tell you but your ass is probably the only way you'll get anyone," Taehyung said with a shrug, returning his concentration to the sticks.

"Oh really?" It almost felt like a challenge to the fiery red-head. In a quick second, he dropped the collected items and swiftly pinned Taehyung to the nearest tree, holding him in a strong hold. Saying Taehyung was shocked would be an understatement. He didn't even have enough time to think what to do as Jeongguk leaned in close. Lips were inches apart, and the younger tilted his head so he could get closer with out actually making contact. "Fallen for me yet, Softie?"

Taehyung was silent. Dead silent. He couldn't even breathe, scared he would move. The brunet's eyes went down the boy's lips. Just one more millimeter closer and they'd be connected.

Judging by the way Taehyung was frozen, it didn't look like he was about too peep out another word for a while.

"Jesus fucking Christ, Softie, I was just messing with you," Jeongguk said, as he pulled away. He turned his back and began collecting the pieces of wood he had dropped.

Suddenly, the red-head was tackled down to the ground. Both wrists were held tightly, feet trapped between the older's knees.

Taehyung went down low and close, just like how Jeongguk had done it. He whispered, "You think you're the only one that can seduce people? Think again, sweetheart." The brined went closer and closer, and that's when Jeongguk began to panic.

"S-Stop being gay!" Jeongguk were the first words that he could make out, but another second and their lips would've made contact seeing from the pace Taehyung was going. Those few words were all it took for Taehyung to spring off. Although, he didn't look embarrassed or flustered, but pissed. Very pissed. All the older wanted was his turn at messing with the boy and to see him flustered up again, he didn't have any other intentions.

They collected more wood for the fire and made there way back to the site. Taehyung had kept silent the entire time, scaring Jeongguk a little as he was usually obnoxiously loud. They dropped all the sticks into the pit, and took a seat, Jeongguk even going out of his way to sit on the same log as the older.

"We got the marshmallows!" Saejoon yelled, everyone cheering in response. They soon started the fire, distributed sandwiches and skewers to roast any meat or marshmallows.

After a while of eating and drinking, Taehyung had long forgotten his anger on the red-head for his unnecessary remarks. He wasn't the only one who set aside such issues. It seemed that the boys had started treating Taehyung like before, talking and laughing with him more casually.

"V-hyung! You remember that one song we'd always sing?" Minhae yelled, slightly tipsy from the beer they had sneaked out.

The brunet gasped. "I told you I don't go by V anymore! And how could I forget?"

The newbies, including Jeongguk, were quite confused on what the hell was going on, but the others began getting prepared by clearing their throat, which only added on to the confusion.

"Baby shark," Taehyung started quite loudly, and that's all it took for the rest to join and clap along. Even those who had no idea this was a tradition joined in. Jeongguk rubbed and drowned his face in his hands. "I'm friends with a bunch of airheads," he groaned.

"C'mon Gguk, sing along!" Taehyung nudged him, earning a glare from the red-head. "Woah, okay, okay," the older quickly backed off, but it didn't stop him from screaming the lyrics even louder while facing Jeongguk. The younger couldn't help but break out into smiles and laughs.

"Y'all look so dumb," Jeongguk tried talking over the singing. This only gave the boys more motivation to sing as Jeongguk laughed louder and louder at all the voice cracks and slurred lyrics. They've never seen the boy this joyful before. It was new, and it was all because of Taehyung.
