*Sam POV*

I and Weiss walk through the military base and I carry a luggage bag with Maria inside, while Cordovin and her guards escort us through the facility, along with Saphron and Adrian

Cordovin: "I was relieved to hear that you came to your senses Miss Schnee. Many of us were heartbroken when we heard that you would be attending... Beacon Academy. Knowing that you'll be returning to Atlas just warms my old heart" I try my best not to puke at her words

Weiss: "It was time for me to return home and connect back with my roots. I am also grateful that you're allowing my bodyguard to return with me. I don't know what I'd do without him"

Cordovin: "Oh, can't wait to see you walk in your sister's footsteps" Weiss smiles nervously

Weiss: "Absolutely. Luckily, Sam and my sister already know each other, so I'm sure they'll want some time to catch up as well"

Cordovin: "Well, just in case, I'm sending two of my best guards to personally escort you home... You can tell Ironwood about that part" she winks before walking off

Guard#1: "Shall I assist Miss Schnee with her bag?":

Weiss: "Oh no. Sam can handle it, it's what I pay him for" I scowl and I see Weiss mouths 'I'm sorry' to me

Guard#2: "Very well. Then we shall escort you onto the ship" I look to Saphron and wink. She later looks to Adrian

Saphron: "Okay, just like we practiced" she whispers and Adrian nods before letting out an extremely loud cry across the base "Oh no, he's crying. I think he's going to miss you two so much. You should get going before he gets worse"

'How can this kid be Jaune's nephew... He is much clever than his uncle'

Guards: "A crying child! We must console it!" Guards left us alone and we used the occasion to sneak inside the ship

Weiss: "That was too close"

Sam: "Yeah. Somehow we managed to get onto the ship, with our heavy cargo" then we hear Ruby via our comms

Ruby: "Is everything okay?"

Weiss: "Yes"

Maria: "Heavy?! It's all muscle! I will show you a thing or two about heavy" she says from inside the bag

Sam: "Maria, be quiet or they'll find out"

*(Y/N) POV*

We are on the cliffs outside the city, Blake and Yang are taking out the tower. After checking with Weiss and Sam, Ruby turns to us

Ruby: "Alright, we'll keep an eye on our scrolls. Once we see that Weiss and Sam are out of range of the comm tower, that will also mean they'll be out of radar range as well"

(Y/N): "That's when Blake and Yang will handle the tower"

Yang: "We're clear on our end. I almost got Blake to drop off" she calls in via comms

Terra: "Okay, one, the radar box is separate from the rest of the comms equipment, so if you disconnect it properly, it won't take out the comms for the rest of the city. Two... this conversation never happened"

Blake: "Don't worry, this isn't the first time I've disabled Atlas security"

Terra: "Never. Happened"

(Y/N): "Would you rather I send Mako there? Because he would just smash the whole thing down"

Mako: "Hey!" we stare at him "Okay, okay. I would"

I turn to Ryze as he has a nervous look on his face. I sigh

(Y/N): "Go there Matoi. Don't keep your fiance waiting" he smiles, salutes and takes flight towards Blake and Yang

Mako: "Boss, you sure we won't need Ryze here?"

(Y/N): "We will be fine. He is worried about Yang. Taurus is still somewhere around, and if they meet, Ryze would kick his ass"

Mako: "What if not?"

(Y/N): "He will, either with his own strength or with powers of Winter's Guardian. They usually activate when you're stressed. That's how I and Sam get ours" I take Mortem out and turn it into scythe "I just hope this time it won't be needed"

Ruby gets near me

Ruby: "It will be alright Cookie. We will get to Atlas. One way or another" I smile

(Y/N): "Always an optimist, right, Petals?" she nods

Ruby: "Always!" she then looks at Qrow, who is leaning against a tree, looking a little worried "It's gonna work"

*Sam POV*

Our airship got in the air. Weiss is checking her scroll as we wait when we get out of range. Soon we are and I nod to Weiss before standing up and moving to the pilots

Pilot: "Mr. Kiryuin, what are you-"

Sam: "Sorry, guys" I smirk before beating the crap out of both of them. Later I toss them out of the ship, after giving them one parachute. "Oum! That felt so good to do that. I now know why Ryze likes being a little rebellious. It's fun to kick authorities!" Maria and Weiss take the pilot seats

Weiss: "You're sure you know how to fly this thing?"

Maria: "Young lady, I was the Grimm Reaper, remember? And my daughter is one of the Atlas' smartest. I can pilot anything" she straps herself in

Sam: "What about your eyes? I don't see a guide for colorblind on controls" Maria laughs a bit before pulling a small device and plugging it in her eyes "Okay, I didn't saw that coming"

Maria: "Pros of Elizabeth designing those ships"

Weiss: "I thought your eyes were in desperate need of repair!"

Maria: "Bup! Bup! Bup!"

Weiss: "But!"

Maria: "Bup!"

Sam: "I see now from where (Y/N) got his childish behavior..."

Maria: "Oh be quiet. If I were you, I would buckle up in case things get a little exciting" Weiss buckle her seat belt while I hold tightly to their seats

*(Y/N) POV*

Me and Ruby check our scrolls to see Weiss and Sam's scroll signal dropped to zero

Ruby: "Alright, guys, time for the next step in the plan. Blake, everything good on your end?" she gets no reply "Blake?... Yang, is everything okay with you guys?"

Yang: "I'm... not sure"

(Y/N): "Dammit. Ryze, do you copy?"

Ryze: "Yeah, something happened?"

(Y/N): "Weiss and Sam are out of the radar, but we're getting no info from Blake. You see anything amiss?"

Ryze: "No. But I sense something is wrong... I'm running to them now. I will report if something happens"

(Y/N): "Alright then"

*Sam POV*

Our flight is going smoothly, until

???: "Manta 5-1, this is Argus base. We see that you have changed course and are circling back. What's your status? Over"

Weiss: "Why can they see us?" she whispers

Sam: "If they realize what we're doing, then we're officially screwed" I whisper

Maria: "Somebody must've screwed up with the rest of the plan. Don't worry, I've worked with Atlas forces before. I know their military jargon," Maria whispers and then opens the comm channel. "Argus base, this is Manta 5-1, feel free to gaff off. Though we were going to scrub due to FOD, back we're back up and green across the board. Over"

Sam: "If that just worked, I will eat my blazer"

Maria: "Then that's the bet"

Base: "Manta 5-1, return to base immediately or you will be treated as hostile. Over" we get shocked

Sam: "Crap..."

Weiss: "I thought you said you knew their jargon. Why couldn't you do it, Sam?"

Sam: "I don't know military talk"

Base: "The jargon was fine, but our pilots aren't elderly women"

Maria: "Oops, got me there. Looks like you are to keep your blazer, Samuel. I can't believe you kids let me fly this thing? I thought my mind was the only one that was going" We scowl at her

Cordovin: "CALAVERA! I recognize your voice from a hundred miles away. What are you and those insolent children up to?! You thought you could trick me, undermine MY authority, and get away with it?! If you don't return my ship this INSTANT, I will make an example out of you. I will show you the true might of Atlas!" Maria takes out... a pack of cashews and starts to eat them "What the-"

Maria: "You hear that, Cordo?... That's the sound of me not caring!" she eats the cashews, making obnoxious chewing sounds on the radio before she starts laughing like a mad woman

Weiss: "I can't believe you're (Y/N)'s teacher!" she then contacts Ruby "Ruby, we've got a problem. Cordovin is on to us, and Maria isn't helping! Why is the radar still up? (Y/N)! Tell your grandma something!"

*(Y/N) POV*

Upon hearing this I facepalm

(Y/N): "Goddammit... You just had to tick her off, don't you, grandma!"

Ruby: "We don't know. Blake isn't responding. Yang, what's going on over there?"

Oscar: "What do we do?"

Yang: "I don't know... But, I'm going to find out. Keep the ship in the air and board it when you can. I'll call you when I find Blake" I call Ryze

(Y/N): "Ryze, you have to get to the tower as soon as possible. If any Atlesian soldiers get on your way, you have permission to take them down. Just don't go too crazy"

Ryze: "Roger that"

Nora: "Maybe we should fly over to help Yang and Blake first?"

Qrow: "Dammit! Cordo's gonna scramble her fighters. We've got 90 seconds at best before they're in the air and then they'll be all over Weiss, Sam, and Maria. They'll be surrounded. Crap... This is all my fault"

Jaune: "What are you talking about? Your semblance?"

Mako: "I don't think even your semblance could've done something like this"

Qrow: "Don't you see? Every choice I've ever made has led me here, and I've dragged you along with me. Oz, myself, the others... We're responsible for the mess the world's in now. I shouldn't have come, shouldn't have let any of you come... What was I thinking?!" I went to him... and punch him in the face, knocking him into the tree

(Y/N): "Oh boohoo. Qrow, listen, we're not dead yet, and we're not done yet either. We've had to improvise on plans before, and we'll just have to do that now as well. We're not giving up. As for you about dragging us with you. You didn't force us, we get here on our own free will. Even If you hadn't brought us here, we would make our way here ourselves anyway. This operation is not over yet" Ruby walks to us

Ruby: "(Y/N) is right. We would've come whether or not you'd let us, so stop talking like we're your responsibility! We're not! But we could still use Qrow Branwen on our side" Qrow look between me and Ruby and then sighs

Qrow: "Since when did you kids grow up so fast?" Ruby smiles

Ruby: "I had a lot of good role models"

(Y/N): "And I didn't come this far by giving up. My father would never give up when things go bad, and so do I" Then our comms comes to life and we hear Weiss

Weiss: "Guys... She's not sending fighters" we get confused

Mako: "What is she sending?"

Sam: "Something much, MUCH, worse"

We look towards the military base in the distance. The wall built into the large rock at the back of the base suddenly opens up, and the rock fall apart. Emerging from within is an incredibly large mech, with large, lumbering arms and legs, a wide torso with the cockpit inside the main body, and lacking a distinctive head on top. Replacing the right hand is a large cannon We then get to know Cordovin is piloting that thing

Cordovin: "Clearly the people have forgotten that they live in peace thanks to the awesome might of Atlas!"

Sam: "You gotta be kidding me. How long have they been hiding that humongous thing?!"

Cordovin: "Allow me to remind you of your place"

The mech raises its arm cannon, sections of it spinning before one piece pushes into the cannon itself and then it charges up its attack. It aims at Weiss and Sam's airship before firing off a powerful electric shot that just grazes them.

*Sam POV*

The shot shorts out the controls for a second

Sam: "Maria, you okay?" she gets her eyes back under control

Maria: "I am, but that she-devil has officially lost her mind!" she flies away

Cordovin: "And that was just a warning shot, Calavera. All Atlas personnel stand by and watch as your leader maintains the order of this city and shows these criminals who's in charge"

*(Y/N) POV*

We see the airship fly by, with Cordovin's mech hot on their heels

Mako: "That's... a big robot"

(Y/N): "How the hell... Mom, what in the world did you create..."

Cordovin: " It's time you asked yourselves, children... Do you truly wish to defy me?" Ruby contacts Weiss

Ruby: "Weiss, I need you guys to hurry back here. We'll need you and Sam on the ground if we're going to stop this thing" I call Ryze

(Y/N): "Ryze, anything new?"

Ryze: "Nothing. I'm almost at the tower and I can't get in contact with Blak-" Then I hear him growl "It's him"

*Ryze POV*

After the call I noticed this motherfucker in the corner of my eye. Adam Taurus.

'I got you now, Taurus...'

*(Y/N) POV*

We look at the scene before us. Weiss and Sam's airship fly by as Cordovin in her giant mech follow them along the coast

Sam: "Ruby, please tell me you're joking. You want to fight that giant?"

Ruby: "Hey, we've fought and beaten giant monsters before. This is just a little old lady"

Mako: "Yeah, little old lady with a giant robot. Robot that could evaporate us in a second"

(Y/N): "There has to be some weak points in this thing. We need to find them and deal with Cordovin, otherwise we'll never get to Atlas" I get Mortem out in its scythe mode "Besides, I have a bone to pick with her after yesterday. No one will tell me if I'm allowed to go back home or not"

Cordovin: "You little spider-roaches thought you could creep your way to Atlas?! Well, let's see how your resolve holds out against the might of the Atlesian Military!"

Robot takes aim with its cannon, a portion of it coming out to show missile launchers, and fires one missile at the airship. However, the missile gets shot down, much to her surprise, by Ruby and her sniper-scythe. Cordovin growls in anger and changes tactics, charging up her cannon and aiming it at us. Airship gets near us, and out hops Weiss and Sam

(Y/N): "Mako!"

Mako: "Right away!" He put his hand to the ground, creating a steel barrier. Weiss uses her rapier to create two additional layers of rock and ice to block the attack

Oscar: "That was close"

(Y/N): "We're stuck. We need to take her mech down, without it destroying our ride"

Jaune: "Then let's keep her focus on several targets instead of one"

Nora: "You mean us, don't you"

Jaune: "Look at that thing. It's not designed for dealing with small enemies. It was probably made to deal with giant Grimm that come in from deep waters. We can turn our size into an advantage. We just have to be smart about it"

Mako: "Good plan to me" Ruby contacts grandma

Ruby: "Maria, can you keep the ship out of harm's way?"

Maria: "They can take my driver's license, but I won't let them take this ship!"

Ren: "Very reassuring"

Oscar: "I'll be more useful if I go with her. From up high, I can try to spot a weakness"

Qrow: "Well, he's not the only one who can grab a bird's eye view" he smiles

(Y/N): "Us three can do some damage, but we need to get close"

Mako: "I think I have an idea..."

Sam: "The rest of you should focus on long-range fire from here, keep her from focusing on any of you guys for too long" Weiss looks to Ruby

Weiss: "You said you needed me on the ground?"

Ruby: "Not... exactly" she nervously smiles

We scatter. Team JNR going one way, the rest going another in the airship, and Ruby flies straight up with Qrow in his crow form, firing off a shot that hits the glass of her cockpit. Cordovin growls and fires off a swarm of missiles at Ruby. Ruby uses her semblance to hop from missile to missile before dropping to the water, where Weiss creates a large ice ramp, followed by several ice pads across the water towards the robot. Cordvin turns her attention towards them, but that leaves her exposed when I fly in, using my semblance as a rocket engine to a metal platform Mako created. They jump off, Sam lands on top, while Mako enveloped his fist in steel and smashes it into the rear left knee of the robot, causing it to buckle a bit. I later throw the metal platform into its chest, making it stumble back a little more before I land next to Sam. I nod to him as I stab Mortem's scythe blade into the armor and slide down until it stops above the glass of the cockpit. Cordovin looks at me and I smirk at her. She tries to grab me with her machine's left hand, but I jump back up to avoid it. I later jump onto the left arm, set Mortem on fire and swing at its exposed joints, but mech's shields keep it safe from my attacks

(Y/N): "Dammit..."

Then a few grenades hit mech's body

Jaune: "Hey! Over here!"

Cordovin: "What?!" she looks to where Ren, Jaune and Nora are, as they run and later hide behind some rocks. Nora then fires some more grenades, but mech raises her hand and activates a shield to block the attack. Cordovin laughs

Cordovin: "Surely you knew Atlas was the father of hard-light Dust, or do lesser kingdoms simply lack proper education?" she raises her canon

It charges up and fires some earth shots at the cliffs, causing rock spikes to shoot up whenever they hit. The group on the ground retreat from the attack and take cover

Jaune: "Cordo just activated shields!"

Oscar: "Yeah, I saw that. We need to find whatever's powering those shields and take it out"

(Y/N): "Petals! Remember our favorite video game? Where do they usually put a weak spot of the giant boss? On its back!" I slash at its arm

Sam: "The problem is, this is not a video game!" he get some vines to get near mech legs and slash at them with his sword

Ruby: "Well, maybe (Y/N) got a- look out!" She and Weiss move before Cordovin can crush them under her mech's giant foot

I use my semblance to get into the air, and I'm soon joined by Qrow. We fly in from the rear and Sam sends some bushes to distract Cordovin while we ready our scythes. We jump, spinning our scythes around and then fall down, stabbing our scythe blades into the back of the cockpit as the impact shakes it

Cordovin: "Ah! What was that?!"

Me and Qrow jump up, as we land on top of the back of the machine.

(Y/N): "It doesn't matter if she has a shield. It can't protect her from up close and personal attacks" We dig our blades into armor before Qrow turns his scythe back into its blade form

Qrow: "Up close and personal, huh. Then we'll just have to keep at it until we can take down its shields" we start firing away

However, before we could do any serious damage, the mech reaches around to grab us again, forcing Qrow to turn into his bird form and me to get into the air with my fire

Ren: That's easier said than done!"

Ruby: "Mako, can't you somehow immobilize its legs?"

Mako: "I can't. It's too big for my semblance"

Ruby: "Weiss!"

Weiss: "On it!" she stabs her rapier into the water, sending out a surge of ice spikes that collide with the mech's right leg, staggering it off balance. Later it aims at Ruby, Weiss and Mako

Oscar: "Guys, move!"

Cordovin fires at them, creating a massive explosion of water. However Weiss' Queen Lancer summon allows them to emerge from the water unscathed. Cordovin growls as she tries to follow them, but Mako jumps into the air

Mako: "Coming through!" he smashes his mace onto the body of the mech, causing the machine to crash against the cliffs with a big dent in its side.

Ruby is next to leap off, using Crescent Rose to propel herself onto Cordovin's mech, embedding the scythe's blade into it. The force of the strike knocks the mech into the cliff side again, making Cordovin let out an enraged scream

Jaune: "Go!"

Team JNR rushes the machine as Cordovin screams. Ren runs along the left arm of the mech, stabbing his pistols' blades into the armor to hang on. Jaune uses the two handler form of his sword to slash at the mech's hip joint, while Nora uses her hammer to smash at the arm cannon. Mako somehow gets near them and tries to use his semblance in order to keep the mech in one place. It's unsuccessful as Cordovin's robot stands up, making Ruby slide down into Cordovin's view on the windshield. Ruby hangs on to Crescent Rose as she nervously smiles and waves at her

Cordovin: "Get off me!" she tries to grab Ruby, as she lets go and uses her Semblance to fly downwards. Luckily Weiss flies by on her summon and catches Ruby as I fly next to them

Ruby: "Heh"

Weiss: "What if I hadn't caught you"

(Y/N): "Then I would. Ryze is not the only one who can fly" I grin and Ruby grins too. Weiss groans as we fly around the mech, with me and Ruby firing shots at it. Qrow and Ren take care of the shield generator in the meanwhile, allowing our ground forces to finally do some damage to the mech

Nora: "You get back here with MY MAN!" Ruby and Weiss fly to the back of the machine, taking Qrow and Ren away. I grab Sam before using my fire to boost us to the cliffs, with Sam making a net from vines, grass and bushes to catch us

(Y/N): "I need to work on landing strategy. Thanks Sam, we would end up like a pancake if not for that net"

Sam: "Anytime" We change our weapons into gun modes and start firing at the mech too

Cordovin: "I've had enough of you ingrates!" she swings her left hand around at Nora and Mako. Jaune races to them and uses his shield and aura to protect them, but the impact sends them all flying into some rocks. Later Cordovin fires her cannon at Weiss' summon, sending all but Ruby crashing onto the cliffs

(Y/N): "Ruby!" I run towards the edge of the cliff to see her hanging on her scythe

Cordovin: "This is what happens when you think you know better than those rightfully in charge"

She points her cannon at Ruby, but before she could fire, our airship comes around and fires a missile at Cordovin's robot. Only for the mech to catch it in its left hand

Cordovin: "Calavera!" she turns her attention to the airship, only to later throw the missile back to the sender. It explodes in front of the airship, causing it to lose control

*Ryze POV*

I keep running through the forest

Ryze: "Where the fuck are they?!" I look around but see no sign of Yang or Blake. Then I hear the crash "Yang!" I decided stealth is no longer an option and use my Semblance to get near them as fast as possible.

Blake: "YANG!" I hear Blake shouts, as I push myself to get there faster

Ryze: "Come on... I won't be too late for the second time!"

I get near them and I notice Taurus was about to unsheathe his blade as Blake and Yang hold hands. I land between them and Adam, creating a massive wave of wind

Ryze: "I told you, I will get to you, Taurus..." I turn to girls "Sorry I'm a little late. Stay out of this, I'll finish what I started at Haven"

Adam: "Filthy human"

Blake: "Ryze, he-"

Ryze: "I know, Blake. He's strong..." I stare Adam down as white mist gets around my eyes "But I'm stronger... Let's dance motherfucker!"

A/N: And we end with a cliffhanger. Will Ryze kill Adam? Or maybe it will be a draw with both warriors ending dead...? Wait and see in the next chapter of Continuing the Legacy!
