thirty five
Months passed whilst recovering.
From learning to walk again, to letting the wounds heal. It all took time.
Yet Nila didn't mind.
Sure she had missed a lot of uni and would probably have to re do the year, but it brought her closer to her family and it made her realise that she made some stupid decisions.
"I mean, who'd have though you of all people would try to get married at 20?" Saba laughed, whilst braiding Nila's hair.
Her cousin must have really pitied her considering the way she looked after her and did jobs Saba believed were for day labourers.
"You girls ready to go?" Bilal asked, popping his head in through the door.
"Just a minute." Saba said.
She secured the tight braid in a band and came to stand in front of Nila to admire her work.
"Oh, Amjad called Bilal yesterday." Saba said suddenly.
Nila's eyes shot up. "Why?"
"He wanted his ring back, and was so rude about it as well."
"He can have it." Nila said, grabbing her crutches. "As if I want to keep anything from that bastard."
She wanted to do nothing with her ex fianceé, but she wished she could've thanked his younger brother, yet no one knew where he'd gone.
Why Mikhail had come to the hospital she did not know, but he deserved a thanks for being better than the rest of his family.
