"I'll get it," Stanley yelled, excitedly, as the doorbell rang.
Cliff and Gwen got up from the couch, as they heard him chatting with Arnold.
Gwen went straight to Arnold, as soon as he walked into the living room.
"Arnie."
She hugged him tight.
"It is so good to see you and wow ..."
She held his hands and stepped back to look at him.
"You look great. All tanned up and looks like a little weight gone as well."
Arnold smiled.
"Over twenty pounds."
A woman and child came into the living room with Stanley.
"And this beautiful woman must be your lovely wife, Teresa."
Teresa blushed slightly.
"Thank you so much Gwen. It is so wonderful to finally meet you."
The two women embraced.
"As it is you, Teresa.
Arnold just went on and on about you, the last time we were together."
Gwen crouched down.
"And who is this beautiful young lady?"
Dani blushed slightly and held to her mother's hand.
"I'm Dani," she whispered.
Gwen looked up at Teresa.
"She is beautiful."
"You have two children," Teresa half stated.
Gwen shook her head.
"No. We have three."
"Really?" Arnold wondered.
A young girl walked into the room.
She walked to Dani and stood in front of her.
"My name is Lenny."
Gwen put her hands on her daughter's shoulders.
"Her name is Lenora, but she prefers Lenny."
"Would you like to come to my room and play video games?"
Dani looked up at her mother.
"May I?"
"Of course."
Her mother kissed her on the cheek.
"You and Lenny go and have some fun."
"I don't remember her from the first time I was here," Arnold half questioned.
"Oh she was next door that night. We don't have her here when we entertain clients.
She is a bit young for such things."
Cliff joined the others with a tray filled with glasses of wine.
"A toast to a new friendship."
Stanley took the tray when the four adults had their wine.
"I am going to go to my room for an hour or so. I have a math test tomorrow and you know how much I love math."
"Of course," Gwen smiled.
"He is such a studious one," she added.
"So where is Peaches?" Arnold inquired.
"Oh, she and Nick are on their way home.
They went to the beach for the morning."
"So they are still together?"
Gwen nodded.
"Oh yes. They are actually married now."
"What?"
Arnold almost spit out his wine.
"Well they are so much in love and Peaches really wants to keep him, so we said, why not."
Cliff walked to the bar and opened another bottle of wine.
"May as well make their mistakes now."
"But isn't Peaches like sixteen or seventeen?"
"Just a number, Arnie. She is a very mature young woman."
Teresa was looking around the living room.
"You have such a beautiful house."
She pointed at an armchair.
"I just love that chair. It looks like real suede."
"It is," Gwen chirped happily.
"Stanley had a little accident in the chair and we had to get it reupholstered, but they did a wonderful job."
"They did," Teresa commented, rubbing her hand over the fabric.
"Its beautiful."
"Hey Arnie."
Arnold turned to see Peaches and Nick walk into the room.
He and Peaches hugged.
Arnold introduced her to Teresa.
"She is a looker, Arnie."
Peaches hugged her.
"So nice to meet you."
"I hear you got married," Arnold chirped.
Peaches kissed Nick.
"Yea. Me and Nick are husband and wife and we are so happy, aren't we, sweetie."
Nick kissed her back.
"Always, baby."
He patted Peaches' tummy.
"And we have a little one baking in the oven."
"Well congratulations," Teresa smiled.
She looked at Gwen.
"A grandmother?"
Gwen smiled from ear to ear.
"I can't wait. Will be so nice to have a little one scurrying around here."
"And speaking of baking in the oven.
What is that absolutely delicious smell?"
Teresa sniffed the air.
Cliff put his arm around Gwen's shoulder.
"The little lady here is an amazing cook."
"It is so delightful.
I have never smelled anything like it."
"Just a little something I threw together," Gwen smiled.
"Really, mommy?"
Peaches looked at Teresa.
"She has been at it all day. She was so excited that you and Arnie were coming to dinner, finally."
"Well, I am sure we would have gotten together earlier," Cliff added.
"But when the kids said they wanted to get married, we decided to take them to the Bahamas to get married on a beach."
"Awwww," Teresa sighed.
"So romantic."
Gwen took Teresa's hand.
"Come let me take you on a tour."
It was an hour or so later that the two families sat at the table for dinner.
After a toast, all dug in.
"Oh my God," Teresa exclaimed.
"This tastes even better than it smells."
Arnold agreed.
"It is wonderful Gwen. Thank you so much."
"My pleasure," Gwen smiled.
"I was afraid you might not like my special recipe."
"Are you kidding," Teresa commented.
"It is amazing. So tender and such an exotic taste."
She chewed on another piece and washed it down with a glass of wine.
"I just can't place what kind of meat it is."
Gwen smiled, but said nothing.
"Oh no," Teresa sighed.
"You're not one of those women who keep the family recipes hidden, are you?"
"Well."
"Noooo," Teresa pretended to pout.
"You have to tell me."
Gwen continued to eat.
"Maybe one day."
"At least tell me what kind of meat it is?"
Gwen looked at her husband and smiled.
"Let's just say it was something one of our clients had on him."
Teresa let out a long sigh.
"Fine. I will wait, but you must promise to tell me one day."
Gwen smiled.
"I promise."
A little later, Gwen and Cliff took the dirty dishes from the table and returned with desert bowls.
In the bowls was a special warm meat pudding, with raisins.
Once again, when Teresa tasted it, she almost purred.
"This is so good.
I guess no telling me this either."
Again Gwen smiled.
"An old family recipe.
My mother called it ...
brain food."
