Trapped - TF

I watched from the window as a boy stared at his phone waiting patiently for a text he would never receive. I sighed. He was adorable and too good for himself.

Jim - my boyfriend - never took his eyes off of his phone. He had been away when I died from a stupid drug overdose, I regret taking those things.... And now that he is back, everyone is too afraid to tell him. I almost want to give him a hug, but I don't want him to think he's being haunted.

The bell rang and I watched as the students piled into the classroom and took their seats. All the seats were filled, but mine. I miss my desk, back of the class and next to the window. No one dared sit in it, as someone spread a rumour that the next one to sit there would suffer the same fate as me. Six feet under without a high school diploma. I sighed. What a bunch of bologna....

I walked into the classroom just as the teacher did, she walked right through me and sat at her desk. Typical, she walked all over me when I was alive, why should it change now that I'm dead? I shook my head and smirked. Time to have some fun.

Jim was glued to his phone and wouldn't notice any of what I was about to do. As the teacher began to speak, I tugged on one of the girl's hair. This resulted in her turning around and smacking the guy behind her in the face. I laughed as this erupted into a mini brawl in the back of the classroom.

As the teacher walked over to settle the mess I created, I slipped into her desk and pulled out the set of good chalk that she never let us use.

"Perfect." I smirked as I pressed the new unused chalk against the blackboard. It flowed beautifully and melted like the icy square chocolates in my hand. I stood back a bit to admire my work.

"Silence." My creation spoke like the word it made.

A gasp escaped from a students mouth as she noticed my work, soon the others followed suit.

"Settle down students. It's probably just a prank from one of the other classes." The teacher tried to calm my chaos. Typical teacher action.

"Fudge this." I stormed out of the room, the door slamming behind me. The sad thing about being dead is that no one ever notices you.

I stormed into the library and walked over to the loud section. Letting out a loud growl, I knocked some books off the table.

"Hey!" Someone across the table spoke, they were wearing the bluetooth style of headphones.

"Hey..." I replied, surprised that someone could hear me.

"Hey Will, I can't make it to the movies tonight. I have a lot of homework to do." They continued.

"Oh. You're not talking to me...." I sighed and walked away, knocking a book off the shelf as I passed by it.

"Aren't you gonna pick that up?" A voice made me stop in my tracks.

"Are you talking to me?" I turned to the face of the voice.

"Yeah. Who else would I be talking to?" A long, stalky, typical teenage boy placed his hand upon his hip and leaned on that side.

"Well sorry to break it to you, but I'm dead." I replied. "So unless you want to be caught talking to yourself. I suggest you skiddadle." I flicked my hands at him in the "go away" motion.

"That makes sense. I am a medium after all." He nodded slightly, "but alright, go have fun ghosting little Jimmy all by yourself." He smirked slightly before walking right through me.

"Hey! Just because I'm a ghost doesn't mean you can just walk through me!" I hissed at him. "And it's not like I can just talk to him like I talk to you." I ran up next to him. "Or can I?"

He stopped walking and turned to give me a strange look.

"What? Don't give me that look." I rolled my eyes. "Pull our your phone, you're going to text Jim and tell him I moved away."

"Really? I wonder how that couldn't possibly ever go wrong." He shook his head.

"Just do it." I sighed.

"Fine." He pulled out his phone and punched in Jim's number. "What do you want me to say?"

"Sorry, but we had to move away unexpectedly. I'm going to have to break up with you. Please move on from me quickly. I don't want you to grieve. Love, Alex." I watched as he typed every word with precision.

"Sent." He tapped the arrow. "Anything else?"

"Nope." I smiled before noticing a bright light in the distance. "What's that?" I pointed to it, my eyes wide at its beauty.

"It's the light, it means you're ready to move on. Apparently."

"Apparently? You're a medium! Aren't you supposed to know how all this works?" I placed my hands onto my hips.

"I'm still learning, I am in nineth grade after all. Just step into the light and magic should happen." He brought his hands up and did those stupid jazz hands. I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever." I walked towards the light and stuck my hand into it. A piercing feeling shot through me and I winced. "Urgh... are you sure this is right? It doesn't feel right."

I watched in horror as dark shadows began to engulf me. I tried to scream but nothing came out. I turned back to the boy to see a deviously dark grin growing upon his face.

"I've been waiting so long for this moment." His voice was deeper and rasher than before.

"Wh-what's happening?" I clawed at the shadows, struggling to get free.

"I'm taking your spirit and transforming you into a shadow." He laughed darkly.

"A shadow?" I gasped.

"A paranormal being trapped in the middle life. They're not alive, but they're not dead either. They're trapped." He laughed as the shadows completely engulfed me.

His laughter was the only thing I could hear as I watched the last of the light fade away behind the darkness of the shadows.
