Gray's POV:

Today was the first official day of the Grand Magic Games. The rest of Fairy Tail Team A and I all got up bright and early to get to the Domus Flau Coliseum. We were all wearing purple clothes with the guild mark on our chest. Luckily the clothes were to our style, so it was't exactly like a uniform, just something to mark us as a team.

When we got to the coliseum, we went straight to the room we were told to wait in. We could hear all the excitement from people in the crowd, which was still growing. We had roughly 30 minutes before the teams were introduced, so the five of us talked to pass the time. One of these conversations included a mental conversation with my dragon. 'Flame-for-brains.' 'Yes Ice Princess?' 'How much do you want to show off during the games?' 'I dunno... at least Laxus' level... maybe closer to Gildarts.' 'We'll start with just under Gildarts then.' I saw Natsu give a small nod.

Someone came and told us to get lined up and ready to enter the coliseum. Every team was lined up at a different entrance, ensuring that the teams stayed a surprise until the last possible second. We could hear the announcers start talking. "Hello everyone and welcome to this year's Grand Magic Games! I'm Chapati and I'll be your play-by-play announcer! Next to me we have former council member Mr. Yajima here to commentate. It's great to have you with us Mr. Yajima!" A second voice answered, "It's great to be here." The first voice, known as Chapati, continued on. "Here as our special guest we have a member of Blue Pegasus and current holder of the 'Miss Fiore title, Miss Jenny Realight!" A girl's voice said, "Blue Pegasus is bringing on the gold this year!" I heard Natsu mumble a 'yeah right' under his breath. A small chuckle slipped passed my lips.

"I know you're all anxious to see the teams so lets get started! In eighth place the rowdy group of hell hounds, Quatro Cerberus!" The team walked out with the guy in the middle yelling 'Let's get wild' as the crowd went wild. Every member of their team looked a little crazy in my opinion.

"In seventh place, a guild filled with the fairer sex, the damsels of the great blue sea Mermaid Heal!" As he was introducing them, a blue light swirled in front of them, only to break away when their name was finally called.

"In sixth place, the glimmer in the dark, Blue Pegasus!" Ichiya was in the front kneeling with his 'followers' and a blue rabbit behind him. I could have sworn I saw Erza shudder when she saw the small man. Jenny could be heard encouraging her guild members over the mics.

"In fifth place, the goddess of love, the sacred destroyer, Lamia Scale!" Smoke bombs covered the area as they walked out. The smoke cleared just as they made it out of the tunnel. Their guild master was shouting about how they should have come in first. A girl with pink hair apologized as she walked out.

"Now to introduce our fourth place contestants. Swooping in from a midnight dreary, this dark bunch is making their debut in this year's Grand Magic Games. Give it up for Raven Tail." Black mist a feathers covered the team until they walked out. "What the heck are they doing here?" yelled Natsu. Raven Tail is a dark guild, they shouldn't even be here. I could here Gramps yelling about them being a dark guild. The announcers explained how they became a light guild, so were therefore able to enter the games.

"On to our third place contestants!" A familiar symbol appeared made out of lightning before bursting. "The guild that was number one 3 years ago, Fairy Tail Team B!" There were cheers from the crowd, but there were a few people booing as well. You could still here Fairy Tail over everything though. I sighed as I heard Lyon comment about Juvia. No one seemed to pay attention to the 'Team B' part.

"Let's move right along to the team in second place." We began our walk out, but deciding not to be shown up, Natsu and I put on a little show. "Its- what a surprise! This year's games just got a whole lot more interesting!" Natsu made an arc of flames on the ground while I made our guild symbol made of ice. "Our second place winners are none other than Fairy Tail Team A!" The ice busted apart and the fire was blown away as we walked out. The crowd's reaction to us coming out was about the same as the other Fairy Tail team, but there were many surprised faces too, including everyone form our guild, but for a different reason. 

The other teams, besides Fairy Tail Team B, looked at us in shock. Ichiya was the first to say something, "I didn't expect them to have two teams in." "Of course they would have two teams. I wouldn't expect anything less," commented Hibiki. Rocker started shouting, "How come they have two teams? Are they giving them a handicap because they suck?" Chapati and Mr. Yajima explained the new rule about the number of teams a guild could have. Everyone stopped with the questions after that.

As for why the guild was shocked, our first guild master, Mavis Vermillion, was sitting on the edge of our guild balcony wall. She was cheering for both of our guild teams. I could hear,  and I figured Natsu could too, Gramps asking Mavis why she was hear. She responded saying that she was hear to cheer the guild on. When asked why we had two teams, Gramps got on his knees and was begging the first master to accept that he entered two teams for the guild. She asked if our teams were strong, which was answered with a very loud 'yes' from the guild. After hearing that she got really happy and was totally fine with there being two teams, saying how we were 'sure to win the title of number one in Fiore'.

"And now, it's time to announce the team the came in first for the preliminary round!" The crowd began screaming and cheering. "That's right, you know em, you love em, now stand on your feet and cheer for the most powerful guild in all of Fiore! The one and only, Sabertooth!"

The crowd went absolutely crazy when the team walked out. Sting had both his hands in the air and was yelling, while Rogue calmly walked into the arena like a normal wizard. I didn't know the rest of the team, but they all walked in much calmer than Sting. 

"Can't wait to bring them down," muttered Natsu. The rest of the team and I gave unconscious nods a his statement. Sting started taunting him. "Why so serious? It's just a game." Gajeel and Rogue said a few words to each other. Well, one sentence really. "At least we know who our main competition is," I commented.

I could faintly hear a small cheer for Sting and Rogue and saw it was from their exceeds. When Happy and Lily saw this, Happy wasn't, well, happy, so he gave a cheer for Natsu. "Natsu, Natsu, he's our man! Burnin butts across the land!" Natsu gave the blue exceed's cheer a small chuckle.

"All in all I'd say we have a very impressive group of wizards here. Any comments about the line up Mr. Yajima?" said Chapati. "Yeah... Mermaid Heel makes me pine for my youth," stated the ex-council member with a sad tone in his voice.

Chapati went on to say it was time to announce the schedule. The ground began shaking and a giant stone board lifted up out of the ground. On it, Day 1 through Day 7 were listed on the board. Days 5 - 7 all had question marks next to them. Days 4 had question marks and '+ tag battle' next to it. Days 2 and 3 had question marks and '+ battle' next to them. Finally, Day 1 had 'Hidden + battle' next to it.

"There's going to be a lot of action in the next few days," I commented while looking up at the board. Natsu had a huge grin on his face. "Now we're talking!" you could hear the excitement in his voice. Chapati began explaining that every day would being with a contest, which would be followed up by a battle. For the contests, teams would be ranked 1 - 8 and awarded points accordingly. Teams would be able to select who competes in these challenges. The battles will be one on one until day 4, in which it would be two on two. It was also said that the match ups will be exciting for the fans seeing as the made them.

"Very interesting," said Erza. "Sounds like the people pick who fights who," I said. "So if you don't watch how much magic you use, you could be thrown into a battle right after," said Lucy with a very small amount of worry in her voice.

"Now, lets get things started! Our first challenge is Hidden," said Chapati. The crowd was confused, seeing as they didn't know what the game was. "The rules of the game will be announced once the teams have chosen a member to participate." The teams began talking. As teams selected the person to compete, Chapati started announcing their names.

"Our first challenger has stepped forward! Representing Quatro Cerberus is Yeager!"

"From Mermaid Heel, we have Beth Vanderwood!"

"From Raven Tail, Nalpudding!"

"Blue Pegasus sends out Eve Tilm!"

"Keep your eyes open folks! From Sabertooth, the man who sings to the red moon, Rufus Lore!"

The crowd was loud when the other competitors were loud, but when Rufus was announced they went crazy! Natsu was looking around the stadium. "They're going nuts for the pretty boy? I don't get it."

"From Lamia Scale, Lyon Vastia!"

Upon hearing that Lyon was competing, I decided to go for our team. Mainly because I'd have the chance to beat Lyons ass into next week!

"From Fairy Tail Team A, Gray Fullbuster!

And of course upon hearing that I'd compete, my stalker joined in as well.

"Finally, from Fairy Tail Team B, Juvia Lockser!"

Once the competitors were announced, the rest of the teams went up to their specific balcony. "Just because we are meant to be together doesn't mean I will let you win," said Juvia. 'Fan girl alert' "yeah. I intend to win," I answered. Lyon started spouting off nonsense about winning Juvia. "Before we begin, their's something I need to know," I started while walking to the guy with a pumpkin head, "what are you?" "I'm a pumpkin!" he exclaimed. I didn't believe him.

The guy from Raven Tail, Nalpudding I think, started saying something about an unfair advantage for Fairy Tail, but I ignored him. I also ignored Rufus' "advice and other things". 

The eight of us and the pumpkin guy were surrounded by a town that appeared out of nowhere. The stadium, along with us, were amazed. The other competitors disappeared from sight, it was just me. The announcer went on to explain things. "Everyone in the stands get to watch the event on the lacrimatrons, something the competitors wish they had. Now, let's explain the game. Everyone is hiding and seeking at the same time. You have to find your opponents, then land an attack on them! You get one point for landing an attack, and lose one if you get attacked." 'Sounds easy enough' I thought. The announcer continued," But that's not all. There are fakes inside the town as well. If you hit a fake, you lose a point. When you get attacked, you not only lose a point, but get transported to another part of the town and given a 10 second penalty." As he said this, hundreds upon hundreds of fakes appeared. "You have 30 minutes!"

The gong sounded and we were off. I started making my way through the crowd of fakes, being careful not to touch one. Within a few seconds, Juvia had lost a point because she hugged on of my fakes. I Kept moving through the crowd, thinking of a way to get everyone at once. 

The guy from Raven Tail came up behind me. "You don't have a chance if you can't figure this out," he taunted. 'Something didn't smell right about this,,, smell... that's it!' I didn't answer him. Instead, I smelled at air around us. The one talking didn't smell like him,  but the real him was close. So I did the only logical thing, I jumped over the one talking and hit the real one as he came up behind the fake. "Ice Make: Hammer!" I yelled. It hit the real Nalpudding on the head. He gave me a look of confusion before disappearing. "Gray from Fairy Tail Team A has earned himself one pint! While Nalpudding from Raven Tail has just lost one!" exclaimed the announcer. 

I ran through the crowd, smelling everything as I went, trying to find the other competitors by scent. People were gaining points and losing points as I ran. I don't know how many times Nalpudding tried to hit me, but he was seriously pissing me off. I eventually went to the roof of one of the buildings. I could smell everyone from here, meaning I could attack when I wanted to. I saw Rufus on top of another one close by, so I hid as best I could on the roof. 

Eventually, the temperature dropped and it started to snow. It was a smart moved, it would show everyone's breath but mine and Lyon's. Eve found a few people whose breath he could see, attacked, and got three points, but Lyon came up from behind him and attacked.

Rufus and I were currently in the bottom two spots. Come to think of it, he hasn't been seen by anyone else so far. The announcers made everyone look towards him though.

He was standing on the point of a building, arms behind is back. He started talking about remembering our breathing, heartbeat, footsteps, and magic. The a magic circle apeared behind him. The sky got darker and the real competitors shone with a yellowish light.  "Memory Make: Night of Shooting Stars!" He threw his hands up as seven beams of yellow light sprang forth.

Everyone was hit except Nalpudding, who dodged last second, and me. I used a shield to stop myself from  being hit. Rufus had gotten five points with one attack and was currently in the lead. Nalpudding went to attack Rufus, attacked his memory of being there, and was attacked by the actual Rufus, who in turn got another point. 

I knew time was almost up, so I made my move. I moved out from where I was 'hiding' from Rufus. The announcer said something about me coming out, but I played him no mind.  I found everyone by smell before yelling, "Ice Make: Super Freeze Arrows!" I made a bow with my ice, and shot an ice arrow at everyone. They didn't see it coming. The gong rang right after. "Gray has just hit everyone at the very end, giving himself seven more points, making his total eight!" 

The town disappeared along with the fakes and the real people were all that was left in the stadium. "Lets take a look at the score board!" yelled Chapati. The score board was shown on the lacrimatrons. It showed  their current rankings, the name of everyone's guild, their guild symbol,  and how many points they won for their team. 

I had come in first, winning Fairy Tail Team A 10 points. Rufus won second, so Sabertooth was behind by two points. Everyone else fell in behind us, Fairy Tail Team B coming in last. 

I heard the guild masters and team mates of other guilds yelling at the ones who competed, be it goo or bad things. 

I could mainly hear my team and the guild cheering for me. It felt nice. I looked over at our team's balcony and saw Natsu giving me one of his huge grins. The other competitors and I moved to our respective balconies. When i got up to mine, Natsu gave me a high five before roping me into a hug, which I gladly returned. The rest of the team congratulated me, which sadly included getting my head hit against Erza's armor when I was pulled into a hug.

"Fairy Tail Team A is currently in the lead with 10 points! Is this proof that Fairy Tail could regain its former title of number one?" yelled Chapati. 

I could hear people in the stands saying some rather mean things about Juvia and the guild. Natsu and I were getting a little ticked off by that. We aren't huge fans of her's, but she's family, and we don't take lightly to having our family insulted. The people also said I played dirty by finding where people appeared after Rufus hit them and took the points from that. There were a few more things said to try and say what I did was unfair, but I didn't care. But judging by the almost unnoticeable change in temperature, which only and Erza and I noticed, Natsu did. I could tell he was about to yell at them, but I stopped him from doing so. 

"It's fine Natsu. Let them say what the want," I said as I put my hand on him shoulder. "No it's not Gray! I'm not going to just stand here and let them say things like that about you!" he yeled back. I sighed. "I would want to do the same for you Natsu, but we can't do anything about it. Lets just get ready for the fights." He eventually calmed down and the temperature went back down. 

Chapati explained how the fights would work. The people chose the match ups. It was team A against team B, team C against team D, and so forth. The winning team got 10 points and the losing team got 0. If there was a tie, then each team got 5 points. "The first fight in this year's Grand Magic Games, will be between Fairy Tail's Lucy Heartfilla and Raven Tail's Flare Corona!" Flare, in my honest opinion, was kinda creepy. 

The two females made their way to the field. The time was sent for 30 minutes, and the gong was hit. Lucy started by opening Scorpio's and Taurus's gates. Flame attacked with her hair, which essentially caught fire. Lucy closed their gates after their attack and the two girls went back to watching each other. 

As the fight continued, Lucy opened Cancer's gate and had him cut Flare's hair. Flare grabbed Lucy with her hair and flung her around. Eventually, Lucy grabbed onto Flare's ankle with her Fleuve d'etoiles. Both were spinning through he air due to their attachment to each other. 

Lucy ended up taking her boots off since they were toast, but luckily her feet weren't terribly burned yet. Flare's hair went underground and didn't come up. Lucy tried to yell something, but she only got out part of it before it was muffled by Flare's hair. I barely caught it, but Natsu seemed to have heard the whole thing because he ran off towards our guild's balcony. 

During that time, Flare was beating Lucy black and blue, covering her in burns. She held Lucy by her wrists, ankles, and waist. Lucy didn't struggle throughout any of it. She had shaped her hair into the Raven Tail symbol and was about to put it on Lucy's Fairy Tail mark, but Natsu's yell stopped her. Natsu burned a piece of Flare's hair that was near Asuka, giving Lucy the ability to fight back without harm coming to the child. Natsu had come back to the team balcony while Lucy summoned Gemini, who looked like Lucy, and was wrapped in a bath towel. 

The two began chanting, and Flare simply watched. Eventually the chanting was coming to an end, and the two yelled, "Urano Metria!" There was a bright flash of light and a good deal of magic being emitted. The attack ended, but Flare was fine, Gemini was gone, and  Lucy was exhausted. Lucy fell to the ground unconscious. 

"The spell vanished!" exclaimed Erza. "There's something fishy going on here, and it's not manly!" said Elfman. The announcer said, "Well I was expecting more, but her spell was a complete dud!" He then went on to ask Mr. Yajima what he thought, but immediately took back the question after seeing the very dark  look on the old man's face.

Sadly, Flare was announced the winner, putting them in first place currently. That wasn't going to last though, because other teams still had to fight, and Fairy Tail was going to hold the number one spot at the end of day 5.

The next fight was Blue Pegasus vs Mermaid Heel. The winner was Blue Pegasus. Next was Quatro Cerberus vs Sabertooth. From Sabertooth, a tall, very muscular Man named Orga fought. Orga beat the guy with a lighting god slayer attack. After winning, he took the mic and sung a song. Can I just say, he's not the best at singing. 

Next was Gildarts vs Jura. Natsu and I never looked away from this fight. We knew that if we did, we might just miss something amazing. Both were letting off large waves of magic pressure, both knowing that this fight would be a great one. Jura had the first attack, but Gildarts destroyed it with his crash magic. The fight when on like that for a while. Jura landed a few hits on Gildarts and Gildarts got a few on the wizard saint. Time was running out and maybe 30 seconds before the gong was hit, the winner made their final attack and the other fell down. 

When the gong rang, the crowd went wild. "And the winner for this exciting match is Jura, giving Lamia Scale 10 points," We were upset Gildarts didn't tie with or beat him, but he was close. And Jura is the fifth Wizard Saint. So being able to fight pretty much on par with him was a feat in itself. Besides, he had Gildarts backed into a corner, literally and somewhat figuratively. 

Day one was brought to a close after the last fight. 

The final scores for the day were:

Sabertooth - 18

Raven Tail - 16

Lamia Scale - 14

Blue Pegasus - 13

Fairy Tail Team A - 10

Mermaid Heel - 2

Quarto Cerberus - 1

Fairy Tail Team B - 0

Of course, Sabertooth just had to come in first on day one! 

Since day one was over, everyone left the Domus Flau. Since Fairy Tail has two teams, Gramps reserved the Bar Sun for Fairy tail members only. By the time everyone that came with us to the capital was in the bar, minus Lucy because she was in the infirmary, we had practically made the place into a substitute guild hall. Most of us got drunk, Erza was eating strawberry cake like there was no tomorrow, and there was at least one mini brawl going on at one point or another. Both teams were about to leave when Gramps called us over. 

"What's up Gramps?" questioned Natsu while we were walking over. He had told us congratulations for making it through the preliminaries. He also congratulated me on my win and Gildarts for being so close to tying with or beating Jura. After he mentioned Gildarts just barely losing to Jura, I could practically see the gears turning in Gajeel's head, and I wasn't the only one either. Natsu, Gramps, and Gildarts had seemingly noticed too. He was most likely going to say what was on his mind, but Gramps stopped him before he could even start. 

"Seeing how both teams made it, how about we spice up the games?" We all nodded, wanting to hear his idea. "Which ever team has the most points gets to boss the other team around for 48 hours." We were all staring at him, our faces showing various amounts of disbelief. We all agreed to it as soon as we were back to our senses. 

After we made the agreement, we went off to our respective team inns after saying goodbye to everyone else. As soon as we got to our room, Natsu got in the bed and was already half asleep by the time I got in with him.

Sorry for the serious lack of updating, but I had summer projects from school and I just started at a new school. Everything has just been crazy the past few months.

But here I am giving you guys a new chapter! 

I hoped you like the chapter (even though the end was crap) and are enjoying the book so far.
