Lanta sat in her ugly dress. Her snow leopard, Storm, was by her side. She was different to her sisters. For a start she didn't like anything they did and more, she had called a snow leopard. Both her older sisters had called big cats too, but they'd both called ones from Zhong. Keesha had called a tiger like Lishay, the Greencloak that had passed through her home in the jungles of Zhong just before she summoned Storm, and Kanta had called a Zhongese mountain cat which looked a lot like a small leopard. What's more, she hated the high status of her family. She looked down at Storm and the cat looked up with understanding. It was time to take her own path.

 That night, Lanta and Storm quietly crept from their room, past Keesha's room and Kanta's room on the opposite side of the hall. Then as she approached the door she heard a voice. 

"Where are you going, sister?" She looked around and saw Klant, her younger sister. She looked her sister in the eye. 

"Promise you won't tell" she asked. Klant nodded. "I'm going away. Far away." 

"How far?" 

"I'm going to Greenhaven" she replied. Her little sister looked shocked. 

"But father said!" 

"I don't care what father said. The Greencloaks will have more use from me than you ever did!" She realised she was shouting. Then came the footsteps of her mother, father, brother and sisters. "She's going to Greenhaven!" yelled Klant. Lanta heard the others gasp but she was already out the door and running.
