CHAPTER 7

"We are proud of you, Ashkit,"a soothing voice was what awoke Ashkit from her slumber.
"Thank you, One-eye,"
One-eye dipped his head,"I believe you're ready to meet the others,"
Ashkit jerked up,"There are more of you mouse-brains?"
"Yes. Now come along,"One-eye padded through an enormous crowd through to where two cat were sitting in isolation. There was a white she-cat and a white tom with brown and ginger patches. Her eyes locked into the tom's. The air seemed to crackle between them, and Ashkit struggled to catch her breath. Those bright, brillant amber eyes made her gasp; there was hidden love and pain behind them, as if in life, this cat had suffered more pain than imaginable.
"I'm Violetslash,"the she-cat meowed, oblivious to the love from her companions. After a few moments of silence, Violetslash nudged the tom.
"H-h-hi...I'm Hick-Hickorypelt,"he stuttered.
"Nice to meet you, Hick-Hickorypelt," Ashkit purred. One-eye rolled his one eye.
"We'll start training when you start your apprentiship,"Violetslash meowed.
"So, tomorrow night?"
"Yes,"Violetslash vowed,"Tomorrow night,"

"Redleg, you were an excellent mentor to Fernjaw and I trust you to pass that down to Ashpaw,"Sharpstar meowed.
Ashpaw forced herself to touch the gentle tom's nose.
"I'll mentor you well!"Redleg purred, loudly and enthusiastically.
"Thnk you,"she had to say that to halt the words: You'd better.
As the meeting broke up, Redleg meowed,"You wanna go for a tour of the territory? Let's go for a tour of the territory!"
Calm down.
It took a while for them to make it half way to the carronplace; Redleg was stopping at what felt like every tree to explain every detail about it. Ashpaw rolled her eyes. Redleg, you are so weak and stupid.
When they reached her halfway point of the carronplace, the pair sped up. Thank you.
Near the thunderpath, Ashpaw could taste it and ThunderClan's stenches. At the edge, a monster wailed by with flashing red and blue lights. It summondeda storm of dust. Redleg let out a frightened yowl and lept back. Ashpaw sat with her tail curled around her paws. She didn't flinch.
You call yourself a mentor?
"Wh-what's beyond the thunderpath?"Redleg stammered.
"ThunderClan,"she replied without smelling the air.
"Well done!"her mentor exclaimed, "How'd you know?" She shot him a cold glare. They kept on walking for a bit until Redleg said,"You must be tired; let's get back!"
Ashpaw was not tired. Her mentor's whiskers quivered, suggesting he was tired.

After training in The Place Of No Stars all night, Ashpaw woke up at dawn. There was no-one but Snowwater in the clearing, but an overexcited squeal broke the welcoming silence. Braidkit launched himself out of the nursery, Bigkit following behind him cautiously. Treedot let out a moan when he saw what had made the noise and stormed into his den. Pinktongue chased after them, panting from her extra weight. Just then, a cry brought most of the cats into the clearing.
"Eagle!"Brightpaw screeched. Instantly, every cat dived for cover. Brightpaw and Ashpaw stayed put in, staring at something. Brightpaw's fur bristled in terror and shock whilst she sat, grooming her whiskers. Brightpaw dived for Braidkit, who stood rigid in the middle of the camp, frozen in searing fear.
"Get out of the way!"Brightpaw screamed, pushing Braidkit aside.  The eagle let out a satasfied squawk as it made off with the older apprentice.
"Help!"Brightpaw wailed, then broke into a yowl.
"Brightpaw!"Crystalfur shrieked. Screwing up his face, he lept for the eagle's talons, struggling to free Brightpaw. It was too late. The eagle was already soaring far above their heads. Brightpaw's cry was cut short. Ashpaw smiled as she watched the scene, amusement bubbling up inside her. After a few moments of silence, Sharpstar meowed, "Per-perhaps it dropped her,"
"Yeah, Geckowish, Lavapaw, go look,"Snowwater ordered. The search was obviously hopeless.
"Come on, Ashpaw,"Redleg sighed, "We're going hunting,"
