It was a regular day at Platico. It was slow since barely any people are willing to walk into the coffee shop at 6AM. So Perry didn't have any work since he and his co-worker Peter have done everything to open up, Glen and Mary were pretty good at closing. Peter is at the window, which he refuses Perry helps him with making the drinks.

Perry was messing with a straw until he hears the bell on the door ring and smiles and gives the man a wave. 'Welcome.' he knew most costumers can't understand him, but it's nice to try right?

"Oh, oh is he deaf? Oh man I didn't plan for this. I haven't used my skills in a while..." The brown hair mumbles to himself when stepping up to the counter. 'Thank you.' he signed, shocking Perry.

'You know ASL?!' Perry had a genuinely shocked face. 'Also I can hear you. I'm just mute'

The tired looking man widens his eyes. "Oh I'm sorry. I'm such a dummkopf in the mornings. Uhm anyways can I have the Carmel frappe with extra almond flavoring?"

He's kind of cute Perry thought while typing the man's order down then had the machine speak out "anything else?" Out of habit. The man shakes his head and just yawns while Perry has the machine speak the amount out. 'And the name for this?'

The man nods and pulls his wallet out to get his card "Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. But you can just put Heinz since everyone messes up Doofenshmirtz. Honestly I've given up on fixing everyone who's tried to say it. 46 years and I've just come to a conclusion that I'm not going to correct anyone on how to say it correctly." Doofenshmirtz starts to ramble before stopping short, just stopped. He must be really tired. Poor guy.

Perry nods while the man pays, he grabs a cup and starts making Doofenshmirtz frappe (look idk coffee really so sorry if I made this up) and puts the flavoring in.

Why do I find this order kind of cute?

Perry gets the frappe ready and puts it down next to the man who looks like he's seconds from falling asleep. Perry chatters and the man jumps awake, feeling kind of bad for waking him.

"Haha you don't happen to know a babysitter or something right? My baby girl seems to always keep me awake. Even though she's 7 all she wants is me to watch like... Some show or... Or something some show about dogs... Or cats... No no no it's a duck, a turtle and one those small little chripy balls of fluff-" he yawns and takes a drink and sighs. "I apologize for running my mouth... I have to get to work. No bills want to pay themselves sadly" the man quickly drops a $5 bill in the jar and walks out of the shop.

He was pretty handsome. I wonder if he's married.

The next morning Perry was about to grab himself breakfast, while Peter already starts handling the drive thru, before the door chimes.

Already? We opened like 5 minutes ago.

"Daddy can I drink coffee like you??" Perry hears a child say.

'Welcome' he signs before looking up to see who actually walked through the door.

Dr. Cutie- Doofenshmirtz came back? Is this is daughter? Perry looks around where's his wife?

The little girl gasps when she sees Perry sign. "Daddy he can do sign like us!! Did he have an invention blow up in his ears?" This girl seems way too hyper for the morning already. She's dressed for school in a pink dress (idc headcanon she was hella girly as a kid) and a purple backpack.

"No darling he didn't get an invention blown up in his face" he chuckles with exhaust then looks at Perry. "I know it's your job to be up so early but I feel bad still. Anyways can I have the c-" before he can finish his sentence the register speaks his coffee order. "Yeah- how did you know I wanted what I had yesterday and remember it?"

'It was a cute order with a cute guy I couldn't forget it' Perry signs without thinking, forgetting Dr. Doofenshmirtz can read what he's saying. Which made Dr. D burst into a mad blush.

Shit, noted this cute man can read what you say. Remember you idiot he can read it.

"O-oh. Okay- oh uhm... And a small hot chocolate for my daught-"

Before Dr. D can even finish his sentence Vanessa interrupts him. "With lots and lots of whip cream!!"

"Wait I don't think you can order that much whip cream sweety"

'It's no problem' Perry chuckles and types the hot chocolate into the register then has it say the total and helps get the transfer going, then turns to start making the drinks while Dr. D takes his daughter to sit down.

Perry grabs the markers out of his apron pocket and starts drawing colorful hearts around a medium cup for the hot chocolate, wanting to make the young girl happy with her cup too. Perry continues to make Dr. D's drink while making a small cup of hot chocolate to pour into the medium cup.
Perry grabs both cups and puts marshmallows in the hot chocolate and fill the rest of the cup with whipped cream. He glances to see if Peter is looking then quickly puts a heart of whip cream in Dr. D's cup and puts the lids on. He walks to the counter and knocks to let Dr. D know his drinks are ready.

"Oh wow. Already? Am I going to have to get used to you being so quick if I keep coming or are you going to take your time some day?" The inventor says shocked as he walks up to the counter. He stops when he sees the medium and large cup and bites his lip. "Perry the Platico employee... I... That's a medium- she won't drink a medium... Plus I paid for a smal-"

'I know I know. And it's a small. She asked for extra whip cream so most of the space is taken by whip cream not actual drink' Perry smirks and tips his Platico hat to Dr. D, making his blush the second time that morning.

"Oh" the man stood there speechless, and not from being tied, for once then nods his head and grabs the drinks and gives Vanessa her hot chocolate, which she got all excited over having a prettier cup than her dad. "Well thanks.  Welll see you later Perry the Platico employee. I have to get Vanessa to school and I have to go to work"

Dr. D starts walking his daughter out of the Cafe but before he could get outside Perry hears Vanessa ask "Is that going to be my new daddy???" With joy.

So... He's not married?

A few weeks later Dr. D has come in everyday, ordered the same drink everyday. Sometimes brought Vanessa, sometimes by himself. Perry learned that Dr. D is in fact single, works as a part time pharmacist to help pay for everything and is an inventor. He also learned that Dr. Doofenshmirtz has robotic arms, only cuz they died on him one day while getting his wallet, he forget to charge them the night before.

Today was different at work though. Perry was expecting Dr. Doofenshmirtz to come in like he always does to get his coffee, he almost made it ahead of time like normal but told himself not to today for some reason. Perry looked out the windows looking for the wacky brown hair he knows so well, but doesn't see the man anywhere.

"Aww is your boyfriend not here yet?" Peter teased, Perry knew it was teasing but he flipped him off anyways.

'Fuck off you "I'm dating someone wonderful" what about your mysterious boyfriend? I'm starting to think he's made up' Perry stuck his tongue out then turned his head to look outside again.

"What!? He came by yesterday. Are you blind?"

'No I just don't deal with the window work cuz unlike you I'm mute as fuck'

"Yeah not my fault you refuse to use your voice. You probably should let your boyfriend hear your voice P." With that Peter turns back to work with a smirk

Is he busy with an invention or is today just a lazy day? Could be. That could be why he's not here. Well not here yet. It's just a day off that's all. He was late last week too because he had a day off. What am I thinking? No he wasn't. Not this late.

He couldn't help but feel a little worried. Dr. D always comes in to get coffee. Everyday. Today shouldn't be any different, right? Perry grabs a window spray that's under the register and a rag and walls over to the front windows.

I guess today he's just not coming in. I hope he's okay.

He sighs as he sprays the window and wipes it down. From the corner of his eye he sees a familiar orange hair girl and her parents holding toddlers with orange and green hair.

Lawrence! Did I forget something at home? Did I not grab my lunch? I swear I grabbed it. Maybe my wallet? Maybe they're just coming to chill.

The door bell chimes as Perry's family walks through the door. 'Welcome!' Perry signs excitedly before walking back to the counter to put the supplies away. 'Did you guys come to get something or did I forget something at home?'

Linda shakes her head and smiles "No you didn't leave anything at home. Phineas and Ferb just wanted to show you this thing they built today. They're just so smart and so young. I can't wait to see how they'll do in school."

Linda put Phineas down while Lawrence put Ferb down. 'Oh yeah? What'd they build?' Perry glances to the front window quickly to his disappoinment there was no slouched inventor coming his way. He looks back at Phineas and Ferb as they hold up a dog shapes toy they made.

God they always make the coolest things for only being 1 and a half. I love Candace's art too though. Especially that platypus she painted me just last week too. I hope she knows she's just as talented.

He got Candace some hot chocolate, like he always does, and Linda and Lawrence a double double (2 cream 2 sugar) each. Giving the boys just small bottles of juice. He loves his family but he really wants Dr. D to walk through the door. Before anyone could say anything else, Peter turns the radio up for Perry to hear.

"Isn't this your guy's name?"

"Roger Doofenshmirtz is holding an early meeting with a few investors and his family for ameeting today to talk about upcoming projects" the radio host announces.

Of course. He's a Doofenshmirtz, Roger's brother. Guess I won't be seeing him today then.

"Your guy? You've got eyes on someone Uncle?" Candace stares at Perry with big, excited eyes. Perry just rubs the back of his neck and nods a little.

'A crush I guess you could say' seeing this mad Candace jump with excitement.

"Am I going to have a new uncle?? When's the wedding?? Can I be the flower girl?? Does he have a niece too?? Is he tall?? Is he pretty?! Is he-"

Before Candace can carry on, Linda steps in with a gentle laugh. "I think it's time we go so uncle Perry can work. Okay Perry. We'll see you after work okay?"

"Not unless Uncle Perry gets a date after work" Candace giggles and skips out the door with the family following behind.

A date? Pfft in my dreams. Why would a cute and successful man like that be into me?

1pm hits and Perry and Peter finally can get off of work. Before clocking out they see Pinkie and Doug come in to take over. Perry grabs his things and puts them in the bag he has to carry and he grabs his helmet.

I hope Dr. D did okay in that meeting. I would only know he doesn't like his brother from back stories he's rambled about while getting coffee.

The next day Perry is busy cleaning up a mess he made when trying to make Heinz's coffee when the door bell chimes.

"Welcome" Peter says from the window "God do you have to be busy to not say hi to him after missing him so desperately yesterday?" He snarkly announces.

Perry quickly stands up to look at Dr. D just to end up seeing him blush and smiles with a small wave. 'Sorry I was cleaning up marshmallows and coffee that I had spilt when making this for you.' setting down a cup with freshly made coffee in it.

"Oh it's fine I wasn't in a hurry. I don't actually have to go into work today and my ex-wife has Vanessa today anyways. She's never really excited to go over there unless it's her birthday. I don't understand why, I plan the best birthdays I can for her. You know Perry the platypus I didn't have any birthdays of my own as a kid"

Perry nods and just signs 'You've told me plenty of times how messed up your birthdays were. It's fine though don't feel guilty! How did the meeting go yesterday?'

"Oh yeah that. Guess it was announced on the radio and TV. It was crap. He wants us to host a stupid party for the town and wants me and a few others to build amazing things for this amazing party and what not. Honestly I hate Roger I wish I could just" Dr. D smacks his fist into his palm and grunts "My mom too. How'd she come to favor a brat like him? I got her stupid looks while my brother Roger got our dad's looks."

"Hey don't speak so lowly about our mayor you-"
'Shut up. Would you like your brother if he was shit to you?'

Perry just turns back to the window as Perry rolls his eyes as a "That's what I thought."

Perry chatters and raises an eyebrow and waves his hand for Heinz to continue before crosses his arms and actually looking at him. He knows Dr. D can read his gestures even if he hardly knows the man. That is that Heinz hardly knows about Perry, Perry knows about Heinz a lot more than he probably should. Heinz doesn't really dig for info.

"Oh right the meeting and party. Well I guess it's to celebrate spring or something. It has something to do with his stupid plans for spring or something. I don't really know I dozed off half way through the presentation. Woke up to him giving out blueprints for what he wants everyone to build."

Perry just tilts his head.

"What? No I can't show you what it is. It'd ruin the whole surprise you know" Dr. D says as he still pulls out blueprints to show Perry. "Anyways I have to build that by next week. How stupid right? He doesn't even give us a better head start meaning I have to take a break from work for a week just for him. Mother even slapped me when I tried to refuse. How awful is that!? Her own son! All I've ever done is try to do things for her!"

Perry nods knowing how much Heinz tried to please his mother even after the pain she put him through. That's a really charming but a curse personal trait of his, Perry's come to learn.

As they talk more people start coming in for the morning and to hang out before classes and meet up with friends.
Perry isn't happy but he knows it's time to actually start working now, so he starts to wave at Dr. D before Heinz grabs his hand and looks at him with a small plead.

"Please come to the dance with me Perry the platypus. As my date."

They stare at each other for a few seconds, which feels like hours to Perry. Perry going red in the face but breaks eye contact when a customer knocks on the counter.
"Well are you going to just stand there? Say something and move on."

I wasn't expecting to be asked to this dance! As his date?!?

'Yes! Absolutely! I'll go to that dance with you as your date!'
He smiles and stares at Dr. D as he watches his face light up.

"Fantastic! I'll see you tomorrow Perry the platypus" Dr. D quickly kisses Perry's cheek and hurries off with a red face as Perry's grows redder and redder.

What just happened?

Perry smiles and starts taking orders, not letting go of what happened earlier before Dr. D had left.
