A Ride Through Town

The Virginian was riding towards Galina's home, three men followed him.

He looked towards them and decided to stop for a chat.

Parking NoName, The Virginian stepped in the middle of the street.

The three men did the same.

When he was a few feet from the men the Virginian said, "Sheriff promised me no confederate sympathizers came around. The issue is you folk don't really wear the rebel flag around do you?"

"Do you know what your father did to mine?" asked one of the men.

"Probably killed him," answered the Virginian. "At least took a limb or two I'm betting. You rednecks ain't the first, not gonna be the last."

Townsfolk gathered around to stare at the seen some reaching for their pistols.

"No," Yelled the Virginian to them. "These fellas are mine."

"You boys probably have a bounty or two, hmm? Maybe in this town? Maybe in the next town over?"

"You have one too," answered the group's leader.

"What's it up to now? Last fellas told me the rebel renegades offered them three thousand for my head."

"Klan's gonna give us three thousand five hundred."

"And for my daddy? Still six for him?"

"We're done talking."

"Alright." In three movements The Virginian was the last man standing, but one of the men was crawling.

He had been dismembered. He crawled towards where his pistol had landed several feet away.

The Virginian holding his sword in his left hand and his pistol in his right stepped in the bleeding man's path.

"I gotta admit, you got no quit in you, Johnny."

The man answered, "My names Ro-"

"I don't particularly care, you're just another Johnny Reb to me. A Johnny who despite being seconds away from bleeding to death is still trying to kill me. Well done."

The Virginian looked to the two men lying behind him. Both lied in large pools of blood.

"I'm no doctor Johnny but something tells me you boys aren't making it home for dinner tonight."

With that, the Virginian walked away from the man who almost reached his gun before the blood loss killed him.On the walk back to NoName, The Virginian saw the pair Ruechari and Billy.

The Virginian sarcastically bowed and asked, "Have I proven my worth now, my grace?"

As he passed Deputy Darkly The Virginia said, "Self defense and I have three bounties to turn in. I'll come for my payment tomorrow. Tell the sheriff I'm sorry if that shot woke him from his nap."

Taking NoNames reins The Virginian looked back to the crowd.

Billy, Ruechari, and the deputy simply stared at him.

The Virginian let go of NoNames reins and turned to the horse letting out a sigh.

"It ain't right." The Virginian pointed to where Billy and Ruechari stood.

"It's your choice, NoName."

NoName replied by nuzzling The Virginian and planting his feet.

"Thank you, NoName."
