Cold Professor Goes Soft For You- Part 2

⋇⋆✦⋆⋇

Jimin's POV

Undignified and disrespectful cheater!

That's what Choi Minhwan was.

I was currently at the cafeteria, hoping to catch a glimpse of Y/N in order to formally apologize her. But to my utmost dismay and fury, I spotted her at a table chattering away animatedly with a boy with messy coffee hair who went by the name of Minhwan.

I was only too familiar with such deceitful guys as him.

I leaned myself on a pillar and observed them from afar, with the intention of approaching Y/N as soon as Minhwan was done with her. Her smile as she gazed at him was as radiant as the sunshine outside making her look almost glowing.

I found myself seething at the sight. Not because Y/N was enjoying herself but rather with who she was enjoying herself.

Rumor has it that the two are dating and I didn't believe it at first until I ran into them multiple times heatedly making out in shadowed hallways. I wanted nothing more than to punch a wall right then.

Just what did she ever see in him?

The man was a walking bag of red flags and was certainly not suitable to be anyone's partner!

All because I knew fully well that he was a liar in the flesh.

Just weeks after, Y/N and him had started dating, I had seen him with multiple other girls in and out of the building.

To say no more, I have even seen how obsessively he flirts with every female he encounters in each and every class. It was a miracle that Y/N and him didn't share the same classroom.

I had known all along that he was an infamous player and I didn't care as much. Not until, I learned that he had ensnared Y/N. She was too innocent for any heartbreaks he has to offer her and she didn't deserve to fall so deeply into his trap.

Countless times have I wanted Y/N to realize the dangerous tidal waves that she was so blindly swimming in and I had wanted nothing more than to dive in and rescue her.

But even so, I had to stop myself because the heartbreak would have been too much for her.

Yet, why would she ever listen to me out of all people?

I tried my best by asking some of her friends to ask Y/N to be cautious around Minhwan but she never once stopped running into his arms every morning she saw him.

I had done so, even when my mind was screaming at me saying that I was nothing but the professor she pays me to teach her and her personal life was certainly out of my control.

But why had I proceeded with it all the same?

I was snapped out of my chaotic thoughts when I saw Minhwan bring over a bowl of glazed ice cream over to the table before offering it to Y/N.

He then walked over to her side to bend down and whisper something in her ear. I saw Y/N smile again before he leaned over to lightly peck her forehead and finally take his leave.

I hid myself behind the tall pillar I was leaning against. As he swept passed by me, I caught him grinning wickedly at his phone screen and what followed after was an unmistakable Tinder notification sound.

Unbelievable that guy.

I glanced at the poor unsuspecting girl sitting at the table, curiously just staring at her bowl of dessert. Seeing my chance, I decided to finally walk over to her.

I had made my way over to the table and was standing directly beside her but she still hadn't noticed my presence. She was just idly staring at the bowl of ice cream with a pensive look as it slowly started to water.

I decided to make my presence known by briefly clearing my throat. "Ahem"

She glanced up in surprise and looked at me.

"Mr. Park." she exclaimed and she hastily got to her feet to curtesy a small bow to me as a sign of respect.

"Hello, Ms. Y/N." I greeted her with a small smile. "Please do sit down." I immediately insisted feeling a bit guilty, wondering whether I had disturbed her peace. She did as I asked and looked up at me with large expectant eyes. She looked so cute.

Oh, right. I remembered why I approached her in the first place. Clearing my throat again, I started. "May I please take a seat?" I politely asked gesturing to the empty seat across her.

"Of course, sir." she nodded with a smile and I frowned a little as I noticed that her voice had raspy tinge to it. I sat down and gazed into her eyes. I decided to get straight to the point.

"Miss Y/N, about what happened at class earlier with the water," I started off confidently but also a bit nervous. "I just wanted to say that I'm extremely sorry for doing that to you. I just lost myself back there and it was terribly unprofessional of me."

"U-um," she said and I could sense her startle and confusion. It was evident from her tone that she had never expected me to come and apologize to her and that sort of disappointed me.

Did she consider me to be that much of a monster?

"I assure you that it won't happen again." I continued before adding. "And I'd also like to request you to be more vigilant during sessions. Even if you have other pressing personal matters to tend to, I believe that its highly necessary for you to get an adequate amount of rest. However, it must not be done in my classroom."

I finished and waited for her response. She sat there for a few moments looking at me with a slightly bewildered expression before her lips stretched into a pretty smile.

"I-" she started off again, sounding raspy but she cleared her throat before continuing. "I accept your apology, sir. And I promise not to fall asleep in class again."

Well, that was easy enough.

"Thank you. Very well then." I quipped.

She tried to say something in return but was held back with what followed, a series of abrupt coughing fits. They were deep and they racked her body. After a few moments, she recovered with a few heaves.

"Are you alright?" I asked, genuinely concerned for her.

"Not reall-" she tried to say in an undeniably raspy voice before coughing again. Now, I know that her change in voice was not a figment of my imagination.

"I assume you're having a sore throat?" I softly guessed to which she nodded.

"My cold grew worse over the last couple of hours, I guess." she croaked placing a hand on her chest to steady her breathing.

My eyes fell on the untouched bowl of ice cream, with what was left of it was a melted white mushy pulp just floating around in the bowl. Seeing it, my fury grew.

"That idiot actually bought you ice cream when you were sick with a cold?" I seethed through gritted teeth.

She paused her coughing to look at me. "Sorry?"

Oh, shoot. Did she hear what I had just said out loud?

"Um-actually... Give me a moment, please. I'll be right back." I swiftly covered up for it before making myself over to the cafeteria counter.

I came back with a steaming cup of cappuccino before placing it in front of Y/N. She looked at the cup and then back at me with a puzzled expression.

"Well, don't just sit there. Drink up." I said with a roll of my eyes. "I got it for you. It might make your throat feel better."

Giving the cup an almost comedic skeptical look, she reached out and tentatively took it in her hands before bringing the cup to her lips and taking a gentle sip. I saw her close her eyes and smile to herself.

Relishing in the soft aroma of caffeine. For some reason, the sight made me bubble inside with joy. I wonder why.

"Mhmm, yeah." she exclaimed, placing the cup down with a smile. "Yeah, that really hits the spot. Thank you, sir. You didn't have to."

"It's not a problem." I said nonchalantly. "I assume your cold grew worse because I drenched you with water. While I'm truly sorry for that again, I just thought that the least I could do was to buy you something to ease the discomfort."

"Oh, I see." she mumbled before drawing another sip.

Honestly, I have no idea why I said that.

That was not my intention at all. It's just that seeing her in such pain made me want to do something to cheer her up and not solely because I wanted to clear my name up for presumably making her cold grow worse.

Well, I had successfully apologized to her and she and I have officially made amends.

My work was done and I was supposed to be leaving any time now. Yet, why do I crave her company so much?

She lead the conversation and we talked about some random stuff such as the weather and classes. I wanted to make more deeper conversation with her but decided that maybe another time would be better to interact with her. For now, her voice needed rest.

Suddenly, her phone dinged from atop the table. "Excuse me." she smiled before picking it up and checking the screen. "Oh," she exclaimed, briefly glancing at her screen before turning to me. "My mom just texted. We're supposed to go somewhere this afternoon and I should be going home soon."

"Oh yes, sure." I gestured to her saying that it was alright for her to leave.

"Thank you so much for the coffee, sir." she smiled before getting up and bowing deeply to me.

I smiled and waved her off as I watched her dash off towards the entrance. I glanced at the time on my wrist watch and realized that I best be off too.

I made my way down the stairs and once I had reached the bottom to the path that overlooked the parking lot, I was surprised to find the sky ahead looking broody and gloomy and a slight drizzle was starting to form. I was even more surprised to find Ms Y/N standing at the edge of the path and to my astonishment she was carrying no umbrella.

"Ms Y/N!" I called out as I made way to her. She turned to me in surprise.

"Mr. Park! Hello. We meet again." she smiled at me.

"Please tell me you have an umbrella on you." I demanded, completely ignoring her previous greeting.

"Oh, I'm sorry, sir. I don't" she said sadly. "But let me ask someone else whether they may be willing to offer you an umbrella." She turned to leave but I quickly caught her wrist making her look at me in astonishment. The moment made my heart skip three beats, I swear.

"No, you dummy. Not for me!" I groaned rolling my eyes. "I meant, whether you have an umbrella for yourself. You can't possibly be thinking of walking through this shower when you're sick."

"Actually," she giggled at my dramatic statement. "It's not exactly a shower. Just a drizzle." she pointed out by holding her hand out to catch the gentle droplets of water on her outstretched palm. "And I'm fine with it. I just have to cross the parking lot and that's it."

"Absolutely not!" I argued with force. "You will not take another step forward without some sort of protection."

Your POV

I gulped back my protests as he abruptly raised his voice at me. I pursed my lips while scanning him with an incredulous look. Something was definitely odd that day with him. Since when has he ever been so... protective of me?

I saw him ponder on the spot about our little predicament with the rain for awhile.

Pacing for a bit on the slightly muddy cement platform, he suddenly stopped in his tracks and I saw a sparkle in his eyes as if he had finally thought of a solution.

His eyes momentarily flickered over to me before the glimmer in them disappeared and he succumbed himself to a moment of self doubt.

I saw him shoot a reluctant glare at me before silently letting out a groan. He then held his hand out and noticed that the drizzle was slowly starting to get heavier. I raised my eyebrow at him.

Should I make a run for it while I still have the chance?

"Alright, Ms. Y/N," he spoke up after letting out a sigh. "Come here." he beckoned me over. I was so unsure of what was exactly going on in his mind, but I obeyed because I was not in a position to do the contrary.

I silently stood next to him. He then proceeded to shrug off his dark velvet coat from his shoulders before handing it out in front him.

Before I could understand what was happening, he had gently draped the coat upon my body.

"There we go," he muttered, as he adjusted the coat so that it was completely covering the top of my head along with my shoulders and back.

It felt much too big on my smaller frame, but the soft fabric as it stirred against my skin felt gentle and soothing.

I found myself being in the center of a homely scent sprinkled with traces of cinnamon and fresh linen. It felt nice and comforting that I couldn't resist smiling a bit.

"Comfy now? That's more like it." he grinned before gently draping his arm around my shoulder to securely hold the coat on me. "Shall we?" he asked, gesturing ahead with a nod of his head. I smiled nervously and nodded. "Yes, please."

Holding me firmly against his chest and successfully shielding me from the shower, we walked together across the many miles of the parking lot till we reached my car.

After making sure that I was comfortable in the driver's seat, Mr. Park spoke up as he peered in through my open car window.

"Are you sure you can get yourself home alright, Ms. Y/N?" he asked concerned. "With you all unwell and all?"

"Mhm," I nodded confidently with a smile. "I can manage, sir. Thank you." I paused looking down at my vacant lap, before raising my head to meet his eyes and I could feel a light blush slowly creep itself up my cheeks.

"And thank you, sir." I whispered shyly. "For everything you did."

It must have been my imagination but I thought I saw Mr. Park's eyes widen in surprise at my response and he seemed to look flustered for a mere second.

However, I couldn't tell for sure because his expression was swiftly replaced with his usual cold and emotionless demeanor.

"It's not a problem," he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Just make sure you take care of yourself. You've missed enough lessons by falling asleep. I don't want you missing the rest by taking consistent sick leaves." he tried to sound threatening with his tone but he and I both could sense the playfulness laced along it.

"Of course, sir." I giggled, placing my hands on the steering wheel. "I promise to take better care of myself."

"Okay, then. Goodbye." he waved me off with a small smile as the windowpanes slowly slid up, forming a barricade between us.

Giving him one last smile, I drove off from the school parking lot and into the busy twilight streets.

It was not until I had stopped in front of a red traffic light did I realize that,

"Oh," I exclaimed to myself as I felt the warm coat still draped on my shoulder. "I forgot to return this to Mr. Park."

Quickly removing it from around me, I spread the coat open on my lap and examined it clearly.

On the lapel of the collar, I found a tag attached to it.

It read 'Belongs to Mr. Park Jimin. If found, please contact xxxxx"

"His number?" I muttered to myself in surprise. "Hmm. I guess I should call Mr. Park tonight and let him know that his coat is still with me. I wonder whether he'd be pleased to know that I have his contact number"
