The sisters laid down on the beds that were provided for them in the cabin, bored to death. The only thing they could do was draw things with a sharpie, which is what Kiara did while Kyla just closed her eyes to try to rejuvenate herself.
"Kyla? Kiara?" a woman called out as they heard the door being unlocked, causing them to send each other a look. "Can you both come out here?"
"Do you think they're letting us out?" Kyla whispered to her sister as they made their way towards the door.
"I have no clue," Kiara replied back before they stepped out onto the porch, seeing a different woman from before.
"I'm sorry, guys, but at Kitty Hawk we feel you have the strength to hear all the news, including bad news," the woman began, making Kyla furrow her brows.
"What happened?" Kiara asked, her eyebrows raised.
"Well, your cousin was here a minute ago."
Kyla and Kiara sent each other a glance. "What cousin?" Kyla said since they had no idea who she could be talking about.
"A young man, blond," she told them and a lightbulb immediately went off in Kyla's head: JJ. "He asked me to tell you that Princess, well, she passed away."
"Like Meghan Markle? 'Cause..." Kiara trailed off and Kyla gave her a subtle nudge, but Kiara didn't seem to understand what was happening.
"No. Your Siamese mix, Princess," the woman clarified, sniffling from sadness.
Kyla blinked rapidly, trying to get herself to start fake crying. "Princess is...dead?" she questioned and the woman nodded, her lips poured.
"Oh," Kiara breathed out after a second, pretending to cry along with Kyla. "No, no, no. When?"
"Well, we for the news just after you both arrived. We thought you guys should know," the woman explained and the sisters nodded, keeping up the act. "Oh, come here," she then said, pulling the girls into a group hug. "It's okay, it's okay."
"Yeah," Kiara sniffled. "You know, I'm actually gonna need a little more time to process. I think we both do."
Kyla nodded in agreement, pretending to wipe at her. "Yeah. I just can't believe that she's..." she trailed off, looking down as Kiara placed a hand on her back.
"Take all the time you need," the woman said, gesturing toward the door. The sisters then started walking back toward the Reflection Cabin and the woman gave them an encouraging nod before shutting and locking the door behind them.
They took a seat next to each other on the bed, smiles immediately making their way onto their faces. "JJ," Kyla breathlessly said as she shook her head, not believing that he was really going to get him out of here.
The girls continued to sit in the Reflection Room, knowing that JJ would probably wait until dark to get them. But, the woman from before, and a man, decided to go into the Reflection Cabin to speak with the sisters.
"Kiara, Kyla, we know that you're both grieving and we feel you're both best supported by your peers. So, we're going to relocate you guys," the woman told the both of them.
Shit, shit, shit, shit, Kyla immediately thought since this would screw up JJ's elaborate plan. "W-We really feel like we need some more time to reflect," Kiara spluttered out, trying to come up with an excuse on why they should stay.
"No stalling. Come on. We're putting you both in a dorm," the man spoke. "Cabin six. Let's go."
The girls let out a sigh before they started to follow the two. But, as they walked, Kiara stopped. "What is it?" Kyla asked her sister.
"Just hold on, one sec," Kiara told her before she scrambled to find the sharpie from before, using it to write 'Cabin six. P4L' on the side of one of the wooden beds just in case JJ couldn't find them.
"Smart," Kyla complimented and Kiara gave her a nod before they continued to follow the two into a cabin full of girls.
As they walked in, all eyes immediately turned onto them, which made them both tense up. "Girls, this is Kyla and Kiara. They're sisters and they've had some tough family news. Let's show them some empathy and love, okay? Can we do that?" the woman announced.
They watched as the girls whispered amongst themselves, sending them judgmental looks. "No? Okay," Kiara muttered before they started to head towards an open bunk bed for both of them, the girls whispering to each other as they did so.
The faculty then left the place, a man stationed outside the cabin so no one could try to leave without permission. "They seem nice," Kyla whispered sarcastically to her sister and her sister nodded in return, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at the girls.
"Tough family news, huh?" a girl spoke up, which made the sisters turn their heads to see...Tara Thornton. Kyla's eyes immediately widened as Kiara's mouth practically dropped in shock. Tara then chuckled. "I know. Surprising, right?"
"What the hell are you doing here?" Kyla questioned slowly, pointing a finger at the girl as she and Kiara made their way to the center of the cabin. The girls all around then watched in entertainment, not knowing what was happening but still interested.
Tara held her hands up defensively. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Calm down there, Ky. We're supposed to be learning how to behave here, aren't we?" the blonde teased, but Kyla just sneered at her. "I guess your parents finally had enough of you both then," she assumed.
"I could say the same for you," Kyla replied, standing her ground against the girl. "I'm curious, though. What did they diagnose you with?"
"Antisocial Personality Disorder," Tara answered. "Whatever the hell that even means. At this point, they're just making shit up."
Kyla and Kiara shared a look. "That's actually a real disorder," Kiara retorted, arching a brow at the girl. They both knew that with a disorder like that, Tara technically couldn't stop herself from doing the things she did. But not all people with Antisocial Personality Disorder wanted to kill people, that was just a stereotype. But, in this case, Tara seemed to be one of those people, unfortunately.
Tara tilted her head. "Really? Oh, well, they probably got it wrong because they explained I don't have the capacity to feel any love but I'm in love with Rafe," she shrugged before she smiled purposefully at Kyla.
Kyla knew what she was trying to do and she didn't want to fall for it before she got an idea. The only way JJ would be able to help them escape if they were back in the Reflection Cabin.
"Well, you know what they say, cheaters gonna cheat," Kyla voiced, staring directly at the blonde.
Tara let out a laugh. "I never cheated on anyone."
"I wasn't talking about you," Kyla replied, crossing her arms over her chest as she took a few steps toward the girl.
"Ky, what are you doing?" Kiara quickly whispered, knowing how dangerous Tara could be.
Kyla looked over her shoulder. "Just trust me and follow my lead," Kyla mouthed before she looked back at Tara, raising her brows.
Tara seemed to understand what she was insinuating. "You're saying Rafe's going to cheat on me? You're fucking delusional, he's in love with me. That's why he cheated on you."
"Oh, but he was in love with me, too, Tar. I mean, he slept with you first but still chose me," Kyla pointed out, making Tara's eyes narrow. "He even tried sleeping with me while we were locked up in Singh's house."
Some of the girls in the cabin gasped since they were still watching the whole thing go down, this being the only source of enjoyable entertainment they had seen in a while.
Tara's eyes were still narrowed before she started laughing, causing the sisters to send each other a glance. "You really expect me to believe that bullshit?"
"Why else would he be willing to work with me? And take Kie and I home, but not anyone else? He obviously wanted something in return. But, you know, since I'm actually a good person, I turned him down," she described. She was lying, but it wasn't too far off from the truth. Rafe did try flirting with her while being locked up in the room, but it didn't lead to any sort of conversation about sex. But, Kyla needed a way to ignite fury in Tara.
Tara didn't say anything as she just stared at the girl, thinking back to Barbados. Rafe had been oddly nice to Kyla and Kiara, and she remembered getting extremely angry about it out of jealousy. But Rafe couldn't still be in love Kyla, could he?
"You know, I even heard he was hooking up with some girl back in the Outer Banks," Kiara brought up since she heard some rumors about a girl named Sofia, but she didn't know how true that was.
"Oh, yeah, I heard that, too," Kyla nodded along even though she had no idea what Kiara was talking about, but she wanted to keep it going.
Tara looked in between the two sisters, one of her eyes starting to twitch. She didn't know if she could believe them or not, but her jealously was taking over her mind. She just wanted to punch something. No, not something — someone. And particularly the girl standing in front of her, the girl who always seemed to just get in her way.
"You know what I just realized, too? Since Rafe and I never had sex, he's probably imagining me as he sleeps with that other girl," Kyla added, seeing how Tara's face had slowly started to turn a light red color.
"Oh, fuck you!" Tara screamed before she dove straight towards Kyla and tackled her to the ground. The cabin erupted in 'oohs' and 'fight! fight! fight!' as Tara wrestled her on the ground.
"Get the fuck off her!" Kiara yelled, shoving Tara to the side and helping her sister up. Once Kyla got up, she went forward and kicked Tara in the stomach, causing her to double over in pain. "No, Ky, stop, we're gonna get trouble!"
"That's the whole point!" Kyla told her through clenched teeth, hoping Tara wouldn't hear her. Kiara furrowed her brows in confusion before she seemed to understand what her sister was trying to do.
Tara got up and tried going towards the sisters, but Kyla swung at her and hit her across the face. "Fuck you!" Kyla spat before Tara wiped at her nose that had started to bleed, growing even more angry.
"You're gonna break my fucking nose again, you dumb fucking bitch!" Tara seethed, the blood dripping onto her shirt.
"Oh, shit," Kyla muttered before Tara started hollering and running towards her.
Tara placed her hands on Kyla's hair, trying to rip her hair out. But, Kyla stood her ground and reached out as well, trying to knock the blonde over or push her into one of the bunk beds.
"Hey! Hey! Break it up!" one of the men shouted as he and a few other staff members ran into the cabin after hearing the commotion.
"Fuck you, bitch!" Kiara yelled to add on to the fight, getting behind Tara and pulling her off her sister. Tara ended up falling on top of Kiara, making the later groan in pain. "Get...off!"
Kyla went over and grabbed Tara by both of her wrists before she shoved her off of Kiara harshly, making Tara fall onto the floor once again.
"Hey! Hey! Hey!" the man yelled, getting in between Tara and the sisters before anything else could happen. "What the hell is going on here?"
Kyla helped her sister up before she moved a piece of her muddled hair out of her face, looking over towards Tara to see her...fake crying. Perfect, Kyla thought, her plan working just like she had wanted. She was using Tara's manipulativeness against her, it was genius.
Tara started crying, making sure the man saw how bloodied her nose was. "They...they just started attacking me out — out of nowhere. I-I don't even know why. I-I was trying to wel — welcome them to the cabin, but they just s-started hitting me," Tara told him, faking hiccups.
The man looked over toward Kyla and Kiara. "Is this true?" he questioned, his lips pursing.
"Oh, come on, she's fucking annoying, what else were we supposed to do?" Kyla spoke, keeping the act up as Kiara rolled her eyes beside her.
"You two, Reflection Cabin. Now," the man demanded before two other man came forward and grabbed the girls, forcing them out of the cabin; the other staff members grabbed their bags since they'd probably be staying the night there and they need their necessities.
The sisters didn't even try to fight back as Kyla looked back over at Tara, sending her a knowing smirk before they left the room.
・・・・☆・・・・☆ ・・・・
The sisters laid in the Reflection Cabin as it reached nightfall, waiting for JJ to be their knight in shining armor and rescue them.
"When do you think he'll be here?" Kiara groaned, getting anxious since it had been dark for a while.
"He'll be here soon. I know he will," Kyla assured her, putting her faith in the boy. She just needed to see him in again, no matter if they had broken up. It was just impossible for her to stay mad at him when he did things like this.
He was willing to risk everything for Kyla and her sister, and that just made her fall in love with him even more. She just hoped that meant JJ felt the same way about her.
The sisters then heard the lock break on the other side of the door, making them immediately get up from their beds. The door then slowly opened and the two of them prayed that they'd see a familiar face and not one of the staff members instead.
And when Kyla closed her eyes for a moment and opened them again, she finally met eyes with the love of her life: JJ Maybank.
Kyla immediately went over to him and wrapped her arms around him, practically melting as soon as she touched him. "How?" she asked breathlessly once she pulled away, looking longingly as Kiara watched the pair with a happy and relieved smile on her face.
"It's a long story. No time to explain though," he whispered, which made the girls chuckle softly. "Wait, there's one thing though. You know how you asked me what I was going to say last night, and, um, Ky, I just...I wanted to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Ky. I should have never...I should have never broken up with you. I was just doing it 'cause I thought I was saving you from me, but...but honestly, Ky, you're the only girl that I have ever, truly loved and I don't think I can stand to be without you," he confessed, which made Kyla's heart skip a beat. "Okay? I want to be with you and I know that I fucked up, but..." he trailed off, looking down as he shook his head at himself.
She started to smile at him, feeling tears in her eyes from all of the emotions she was feeling. "I love you," she told him.
JJ looked up at her, a small smile hinting at his lips. "I love you, too," he replied before he wrapped his arms around Kyla's waist and pulled her in for a kiss.
Kyla placed her hands on the side of JJ's face, immediately kissing him back. She hadn't kissed him like this on so long and she didn't want it to ever end. Even with everything going on, she considered this to be one of the best moments of her entire life.
Kiara then cleared her throat awkwardly. "Sorry to dampen the mood, but we should probably get out of here before someone realizes the door is opened," she interrupted.
The two pulled apart, realizing that there was other things to focus on. "Right, right. Come on," JJ said as the girls grabbed their things and the rushed out of the Reflection Cabin with him. "We can't really go through the front gate," he told them as they kept on running, JJ leading the way.
"I never thought we were gonna make it out!" Kiara spoke happily after JJ whooped.
"Shh!" Kyla quickly shushed the both of them, not wanting to get caught right before they were able to make it out.
"Ky, being the mom as always," JJ commented, which made her roll her eyes playfully at him.
"Mwah! This place can suck it!" Kiara insulted.
"Wilderness camp," JJ said before making a fart noise, causing Kyla to laugh at him.
"Where are we going? Is is this way?" Kyla asked him as they kept on going.
"Yeah, yeah, right up here. This is where we're—"
"Why did you park so far?" Kiara complained.
"Uhhhh, kinda a long story, but um, because there's only one road into Kitty Hawk. And with the camp and your guys' mom knowing what the Twinkie looks like, I thought it'd be best to leave it as a decoy," he explained. "There should be — That's a cop. Go. Cop! Cop! Cop!"
The three quickly rushed behind some trees, trying to hit from the police so they wouldn't be found. "That's what the decoy's for," JJ whispered.
"Okay, so then how are we gonna get out of here without a car?" Kyla asked, not knowing how they would be able to make it out on foot.
"Yeah, are we hitchhiking or something?" Kiara added.
"Not quite. We missed Ward's plane, but I got another plane," he revealed, which made the sisters give each other a confused look. "Come on, man. Where you at, dude?" he spoke to himself through clenched teeth before a car began to drive up. "Here he comes. Dude, come on! Hurry up, man, come on!"
"Who the hell is that?" Kiara queried.
"Kyla, Kiara, I want you guys to meet someone," JJ began to introduce.
"Is that Barracuda Mike?" Kiara realized.
"Yep!"
"Who the hell is Barracuda Mike?" Kyla asked since the name sounded vaguely familiar, but she just didn't know where she heard it from.
"You don't wanna know," Kiara muttered toward her, which only made Kyla even more nervous.
"Bus is waiting. All aboard," Barracuda Mike spoke.
"Barracuda Mike, Kyla. Kyla, Baracudda Mike," JJ introduced his girlfriend first before he gestured over to Kiara. "Baracudda Mike, Kiara. Kiar—"
"Yeah, I get it," Kiara cut JJ off, getting impatient.
"Hop on in there," Barracuda Mike said to the both of them.
"Let me get the seat," JJ said before the girls got in, wanting to be a gentleman.
"Nice to meet you," the girls said to the man, wanting to be friendly since he was helping them leave the hell hole
"That bar's for safety."
"Plane's ready, right?" JJ inquired.
"Plane is ready. It's been ready, dude. Let's go," Barracuda Mike confirmed as the girls finally sat in the back and JJ hopped in the front.
"Whoo! That's what I'm talkin' about! I did it good! I'm a hustler, baby!" JJ cheered excitedly before Barracuda Mike drove off towards his plane.
Once they got there, he had gotten it ready for them to hop on. "Direct flight to South America on Barracuda Airlines. What more could you ask for?" JJ narrated as the three walked up to the plane.
Kyla then stopped walking to look at her boyfriend. "Are you sure?" she asked over the wind from the propellers even though she knew they would go on.
"You guys got somewhere else to be?" JJ responded with a smile.
Kyla looked over at her sister, who shook her head. "Not anymore!" Kyla spoke.
"Me neither!" JJ agreed. "Next stop...El Dorado. Let's go." JJ placed his arm around Kyla's shoulders as the three of them made their way into the plane.
"Come on, let's get the hell outta here! Go, go, go!" Barracuda Mike shouted before he pressed a button to close the doors. "Goin' down."
The plane then started moving, getting ready take off. Kyla and JJ celebrated as they grabbed each others hands, smiling and laughing excitedly with one another as Kiara watched the both of them with a bright smile.
She knew that nothing would be able to keep them apart, she knew it from the moment she saw Kyla risking her life to save the boy from drowning after jumping off the Coastal Venture.
And that made her happy.
