~Chapter 2~
"The greatest sacrifice is when you sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of someone else"-Anonymous.
My vision began to blur as the pain rushed through my aching body. My feet still pumping across the dirt as my breathing quickened. It was pretty hard, despise me being a hybrid. Carrying my brother and having an arrow stuck in your shoulder while running away from danger, to God know's where, is something.
I heard the small sobs that escaped Ace's lips, making me want to push this faster.
If only we could shift.
Be grateful we are still alive, Hazel. I rolled my eyes at her.
"Addy, he's here." And that's when I felt I was pushed onto the ground. I turned onto my back, protecting Ace from the hit. The arrow broke, leaving the head cut deeper into my already bloodied shoulder.
Mister Alpha pinned my hands behind my back as I struggled against his grip. I could sense his anger radiating off his muscular body. I mean, I would be pissed off at me too if something like this happened. Well maybe..
"What are you?! You sure smell like a human, but you sure as hell don't act and look like one!" He growled as he tightened his grip, making me believe that my wrists will be bruised the next day.
It'll heal.
"Someone you wouldn't want to know." I said through gritted teeth. It was getting harder to breath as pushed will all his weight onto my back and bent arms. I looked from the corner of my eye to check on Ace. Anger filled my veins as I see him struggle against three guards. Then something clicked.
Why is the beta just walking around? What a weirdo..
How am I supposed to know? I hope he breaks his neck and drown in a river. Hazel growled as I felt her taking control.
Hazel, sit back there and don't dare try. I warned. Am I suppose to break free from this so-called- alpha or help Ace or fight my wolf?! Because nothing of these listed above were on my 'To do list'.
"And who might that be?" I imagined his smirk playing on his lips. I am not sure if I am suppose to overthink this situation or I just go for it.
Rethink about me taking control and stop being a chicken!
I'll just wing it.
No you won't. And that's when I felt her taking control. I sat there in the back of her mind as I watched her choices of actions. You could feel the danger of the card she's playing.
Easily done, she threw the alpha of her a few meters away. She stood with pride, not caring to dust herself off.
She faced them and that's when the gasps could be heard. Eyes widened like golf balls filled with shock, and hint of fear. She smirked while I groaned in annoyance. There, in their dark eyes, they shared the same image, same reflection. The reflection of our purple eyes in theirs.
Trust me, everyone knows how we look now. I rolled my eyes at her, no thanks to you.
They'll just know us but the red hair and the violet eyes. No big deal.
No big deal?!
Shut up Adelaide, you're giving me a headache.
Just save our asses.
"What are you waiting for?! Catch her!!" The alpha roared, his eyes turning red, that's every alpha for you.
So he is an ass like the rest of them, capturing us for being a hybrid.
Aren't they all asses? I growled back at her. Despise me being one of these species-
Half, half werewolf.
Anyways, despise me being half werewolf, werewolves could be way worse than they look. Many of them have tricks up in their sleeves, and I am pointing out all the guilty alphas out there! All they want and desire, is their benefit. They don't care about anyone else's. Most of them do anyways.
Take my situation as the perfect example. Instead of taking care of the two rare hybrids, the alpha wants to cage us in his rotten prison for God knows how long.
And that's not happening.
Kill him?
No! Ace is here. He'll fear us. Knock him out and let's run.
And that's exactly what she did. She threw punches in the air, her eyes glowing more, showing off their powerful violet color once more. Now, please keep in mind that my shoulder is still burning, but it isn't like we aren't used to it. We probably went through worse.
How many were there? I don't know.
How many did you knock out? I don't know.
How will you escape? I don't know.
Will you get out of there in time and alive? Probably. Not.
The loss of blood was getting to her, which means if we switch, I'll lose. Great.
The blade that was still in my shoulder wasn't removed, and it hurt like a bitch every time she punched. Okay, not trying to brag, but being this creature, known as hybrid, has it's perks. The blade had wolvesbane, which if you don't know what that is, it is poison for wolves.
But we are immune to it. And that is what is keeping us going.
That's what being different is all about. Being different is what angers most selfish and arrogant people. They want all of us the same, identical to one another. And being different, is what makes us special. It shows others how we were able to break the chain and find our true selves, no matter what we were going through.
Everyone's problem, in this community, is us. The hybrids. We are so rare, they want to finish us. Their problem is that we are like them, but more. We are stronger, faster, and hopefully smarter. They treat us worse than slaves, a property, an object. All we hybrids want, is respect and the treatment of equality. But that won't happen anytime soon.
"Please! Leave her alone!" Ace cried, breaking the silence that only held heavy breathing. We snapped our head towards him, and our eyes softened. We scanned his body for any injuries.
And our eyes fell on that, bloodied, clawed mark. And that's how I lost it.
Our eyes flashed from red to purple, finally settling into their violet color. We clawed their chests, ripped their parts into pieces, snapping their necks, leaving none but three. They crawled behind their alpha and beta, who were watching us with amusement drawn onto their ugly faces.
Clenched bloodied fists sat on the side of our body, blood trickling down my shoulder even more.
"No wonder you are still on your little two feet, a hybrid, not to mention a pretty one." The alpha grinned, and it looked disgusting upon his face. Though I quiet like the beta. He spoke to us with a polite manner and hasn't insulted us or gave us nasty looks. Yet.
We walked towards Ace, his face filled with fear and salty tears. We picked him up and started leaving.
"You killed most of my men and injured others. You think you will get away with it?" He spoke. I can't understand these alphas. If you started a fight, and this backfired, what would you expect me to do? Cry with you over your failure and how stupid you looked? Hell nah!
Besides, snapping their necks in the right way isn't ending their lives, they are just unconscious. Everyone knows that, right?
"You weren't suppose to interfere with someone who didn't threaten you. Take it as a lesson." I rolled my eyes at him and left. I hadn't walked a meter and I heard a growl.
"Ace, what did you do?" I asked him, already knowing the cause of the growl is from him.
"Nothing!" He giggled, playing with my hair.
"Then why did the crazy alpha growl?" I raised a brow playfully at him.
"It's obviously not because I stuck my tongue at him. What are you talking about?" He gave me a confused look. This brother of mine deserves an award, the best actor of the year. Young, actor.
"Is that so?" I laughed, noticing his tinted cheeks from embarrassment. We continued walking through the woods, and decided to stay after the border of the marked land a few meters away.
And that's how I began feeling week.
My knees gave out and I stumbled over my feet. Ace looked at me with concern filling his pure eyes. He caught my hand in attempt to balance me. My hand met the wooden trunk of the tree. My back slid harshly against it, as I faded in and out of conscious.
Ace kept saying words I couldn't manage to form, some I couldn't hear at all. He gave me a water bottle and started helping me drink a sip.
He brought a cloth and started pressing on the injury from bleeding, after several attempts in taking the blade out.
We have ourselves the brother of the year. Hazel smiled in adoration. Her wolf grin visible onto her face.
After our escape from that incident, I taught myself how to fight, how to connect to my myself, and how to fix an injury. And that's the first thing I taught Ace.
He wasn't perfect at it, but for sure, he wasn't horrible. He saved my life, just like I saved his.
"You'll be fine, Addy." He gave me a small toothy smile, before letting the dark consume me.
