The young Nidoran ran over, screaming and crying as she found her friend, lying helpless on the ground.

The Helioptile had been out, battling with other Pokemon in the neighborhood so that she could become stronger.

"I promise to become stronger so that I can protect you! Nobody will hurt you!" Those words echoed all throughout her head as she remembered her friend making silly poses and growling jokingly.

The Nidoran looked to the Machop who had taken their battle a step too far. His hands covered his mouth as he looked in terror at the Pokemon lying on the ground, watching as blood seeped out of her mouth, staining the ground.

"There's nothing that can tear us apart! Not even death! And that's not gonna happen anytime soon!"

It seemed like the world could tell how she felt as a droplet of rain fell onto her head, pushing her fur down as the rain seemed to go faster and faster while the rest of the world could lose in a race against a snail.

"Do you promise?"

She felt something start to rise inside her. She didn't recognise this feeling. It had been so long since she last felt this.

"Of course! I would never leave you!"

It grew throughout her body like wildfire, making every single part of her body burn.

"Not even when I grow old and die?"

Rage took over and she couldn't think straight as a warm light encompassed her.

The light disappeared and in the Nidoran's place stood a newly-evolved Nidorina.

"YOU!" She yelled. "YOU... YOU KILLED HER!"

She lunged at the Machop but it dodged.

"Then I'll wait by your grave until I see you again."

She couldn't think right until eventually the Machop had no choice but to fight back.

After a few punches, he landed the final blow, sending her flying backwards.

It became hard for her to breath as her insides seemed to shatter. Everthing started going dark as blood loss started to take over.

"Then I'll do the same."

She managed to laugh. "At least I get to see you again." She murmured before allowing the darkness to take over.

"-I promise."
