Chapter Eighty Three
"Kefira's home!" Lottie shouted through the house to the other two Walsh sisters as the family car came into view.
Cardel and Alana had left to the train station earlier to pick up the youngest for Christmas break. The girls were excited to see Kefira home for a bit. As soon as the car came to a stop and not a moment later did Kefira jump out and race to the house. Lottie opened the door to allow the bullet of a red head to run in and tackle Rosemary and Nellie who were just coming down the stairs finally.
"Whoa! I think someone missed us!" Nellie laughed as she caught herself using the stair railing, however, Rosemary took the fall.
"Kefi!"
"Sorry!" Kefira laughed. "But I did miss you guys."
"We thought you would be fighting the entire time to come home." Lottie said. "After all, you attend a magical school! Why would you want to come home?"
Kefira smiled as she sat on the floor beside Rosemary. "Trust me, it hasn't been so magical these past couple of weeks. I mean, good things have happened, but also bad things. It's complicated."
The older three exchanged looks.
"We'll discuss it later." Rosemary said. "When Mum and Dad are sleeping."
"Sounds good to me."
Neville arrived to his grandmother's home and sat at the kitchen table picking at the meal she prepared.
"My, my, someone is awfully quiet, normally you try to make some light chatter." Augusta said, eyeing her grandson.
Neville peered up briefly at her. "I don't have much to say."
"You don't have much to say? After spending a couple of months with that Walsh girl and you don't have anything to say?"
Neville grinned to himself, knowing what his grandmother was getting at. She knew all too well that in the company of the red head that Neville's year was ever far from quiet and boring.
"Well, Kefira's been kinda different lately."
Augusta rose a brow. "In what way?"
"Not with me..well sorta with me. She's been extra nice since she kiss-" his eyes widened and immediately he shut his mouth.
"Neville Longbottom!"
Once dinner was over, Kefira found herself lying on the bed in her room staring up at the ceiling. There was a knock on her door before her sisters piled in and sat on her bed.
"So what's going on with the little lion?" Rosemary asked sitting beside Kefira and pushing her over.
"Nothing really." Kefira told them. "Classes are classes and-"
"Don't you lie!" Lottie said throwing a pillow in her face.
Kefira pulled the pillow away before attempting to attack Lottie with it, but Nellie and Rosemary intervened.
"Let her talk, Lottie." Rosemary scolded.
"I don't know what you guys want me to talk about there isn't anything to talk about." Kefira said.
"Oh yes there is. It's written all over your face, Kefi." Nellie said. "So spill before we make you."
"That's highly unfair. Me against all of you." Kefira told her. "You know I'd win!"
"You cocky little sh-"
"Enough Lottie." Rosemary said. "Kefira, we know something is bothering you...you haven't been this quiet since well...since you were born."
"Have I really been that quiet?" Kefira asked.
The three nodded.
Kefira frowned. "I guess I just got tired of people telling me to be quiet, that's all."
Lottie narrowed her eyes. "Who the hell is telling you to be quiet?" the older sister growled. "No one tells you to be quiet except...us really."
"It's stupid Professor Snape..he's so mean! All the time!" Kefira grumbled crossing her arm, finally letting out her frustrations.
"I thought you liked Professor Snape?" Nellie asked confused.
"I do..I did. I don't know. He's just always so mean, and not just to me but my friends. How can I like someone who's mean to my friends? And no matter how nice I am to him, he pretty much spits it back in my face. I don't know what to do. I tried to ignore him...you know what Mum and Dad say, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all, right? I tried that. But then he picks on me in class."
"How so?"
"I try to stay quiet in class because he's always telling me to be quiet. But when I do, he picks on me for questions and if I don't answer them he takes away house points. I don't know what to do but.."
She grabbed the pillow from earlier and screamed into it while Rosemary patted her back.
"There, there, Kefs, let it out. Let it out while you're home so you don't get into trouble back at school."
"I get in trouble at school for breathing. Existing, actually."
"It'll get better Kefira." Nellie reassured her.
"And if it doesn't, don't worry your family is here to back you up. I may not be able to perform magic but you're not the only one in this family who can punch." Lottie told her.
"It gets even better. If it's not professors driving me absolutely mad, my friends are up there too."
"Are they telling you to shut up too?" Rosemary asked.
"No, they won't shut up...you kiss a boy on the cheek and-"
"WHAT?!" The three screamed causing Kefira to lose her hearing momentarily.
Suddenly, they heard running up the stairs and Cardel burst through the door moments later.
"I heard screaming..what happened?!" he asked with a panic look.
"Nothing." the four girls said together.
