Five

Staying with Kiyoko over the past few days has been an experience, for lack of a better word. You may be more social and less hostile than Tsukki, but you're not exactly a social butterfly either. The only quote-on-quote real friends you've had over the years have been your own brother and Yamaguchi, who are both a year younger than you and, well, boys. You don't remember ever having a sleepover that wasn't just you and Yamaguchi camping out in Tsukki's room and bugging him to no end.

Aside from the fact that you don't have many, or any, female friends close enough to even consider having a sleepover with, Kiyoko is just so...pretty. You feel like one of those floppy, soggy french fries that you end up giving to Yamaguchi compared to Kiyoko. The whole team would kick your ass for comparing yourself to her, but you can't help it. She's just so pretty.

They don't really let you walk around with a low self-esteem, but they don't exactly worship the ground you walk on either. Now that you think about it, you're basically like the rest of them - worshiping the ground Kiyoko walks on.

She really doesn't let you be self-deprecating either. You thought she was going to throw something at you when you didn't want to put your glasses on around her because you think you look better without them. She holds you at the same level she holds herself. Really, befriending Kiyoko and spending the past few nights, with a few more to go, has shown you a whole new side of the third-year girl. "One day you're going to find someone who looks at what you call flaws and sees only charm."

During the camp, Kageyama and Hinata have caused and gotten into all sorts of trouble. Between bickering to no end, yelling in the middle of the night, calling Noya a child, losing and having to track down volleyballs, you thought how on earth would they be able to do anything else? You thought it couldn't get worse than misplacing a whole cart of volleyballs, but they just had to go and prove you wrong.

"(Y/N), can you go track down Hinata? The idiot started racing Kageyama and got lost." You heave a sigh at Daichi's request, but nod in affirmation. Deep down, you knew something like this was going to happen eventually. You're just surprised that only Hinata got lost and not both of them. You ignore the "why don't you get lost too" comment from Tsukki as you set off to find the missing child.

You were tempted to drag Kageyama along for a better idea as to where the tiny middle blocker went, but you end up finding him after walking for less than ten minutes. He may run off, but it's not hard to find him when he still doesn't really have volume control on his mouth.

"Oi, Shoyo." Said boy nearly jumps out of his skin, which in turn startles the other boy with him. The new boy briefly looks you up and down before turning his attention back to the device in his hands, eyes lingering for a second longer at the words printed on the front of your jacket. Karasuno High School.

You open your mouth to apologize to him for whatever Hinata might have done or said, but stop when another boy dressed in the same red track suit finds the three of you. Your eyes find the words printed on the front of his jacket. "Nekoma."

The new boy's teammate, the tall boy with black hair, grins when the words leave your mouth. "Karasuno." He responds before motioning for the blond boy to follow him. You and Hinata both stand there staring at the two Nekoma boys as they leave. Something about that tall guy gives you a weird feeling. 'Who the hell was that?'

"Who was that?" Hinata probes your side with his elbow and you shrug. "How would I know? I assume he's from Nekoma. It was on his jacket and he was carrying a gym bag. That other guy you were talking to had the same. How did you not notice? You were the one talking to him?" "He did say he was in volleyball..."

~*~

You were right about the two boys. The smaller, blond boy Hinata talked to is their setter, Kozume Kenma, and the tall boy with black hair is none other than their captain, Kuroo Tetsuro. You made eye contact with him as soon as you stepped off the bus. Something about this guy gives you a weird feeling, and you're very curious.

Tanaka and one of the Nekoma guys are making weird faces at each other, causing you to sigh. "Oi," You call as you walk past him, lightly hitting his shoulder. "Quit trying to intimidate them, your face looks weird like that." As expected, he ignores you, but the guy he was "fighting" with immediately goes quiet as you and Kiyoko walk past.

As you make your way to the entrance where Tsukki and Yamaguchi wait, Nekoma's captain falls into step next to you. "Eh, you're the girl that was scoping out Kenma and I the other day." You stop and raise an eyebrow at him, motioning for Kiyoko to go on ahead of you.

"I wouldn't exactly call that 'scoping out.' I was just looking for our lost idiot, it was just a coincidence that you two were there too." You state matter-of-factly, crossing your arms over your chest. You can see the smirk in his eyes before it reaches his lips. "Coincidence? Or fate?" He walks away before you can retort. You don't know anything about this guy but, given just by the playful look in his eyes and the way he singled you out, you know you're going to have fun with him.

"Don't go flirting with them." Tsukki grumbles when you finally make it to where he and Yamaguchi were waiting for you. You narrow your eyes at him. "I wasn't flirting. And besides, it's none of your business who I flirt with if I did." "Oh come on, you two haven't taken your eyes off each other since you got off the bus. And it is my business, I'm supposed to make sure you don't get yourself into some mess."

Both of you open your mouths to start arguing, but the look on Daichi's face silences any argument you might have had. Across the gym, Kuroo watches the exchange with a slight chuckle. "She's an interesting one."
