Where can I go? What can I do?

Jungkook looked up from his spot in the dumpster to see Yoongi's silhouette hovering above him. "Oh, hi Yoongi!" He gestured to his backpack that was already half full of food that he'd pulled out of trash bags. "I can see why you were in here earlier, this is actually a really good id-"

"-What the hell are you doing here?!" Yoongi hopped into the dumpster and snatched up the backpack to inspect what Jungkook had already thrown inside of it. Some untouched chicken wings, sealed containers half full of drinks, even some half-racks of ribs. He immediately shoved his hand into the backpack and started yanking things out to claim for himself.

"Hey! That stuff is mine!" Jungkook reached for his backpack, but Yoongi shoved him back.

"Yours? Yours?! You wouldn't even have known to check in here if it weren't for me! The only reason you're even in here is because you saw me in here earlier. So no, it's not yours! Go find your own damn dumpster to search in, this one is mine and has been for years!"

Jungkook huffed and crossed his arms as he furrowed his eyebrows. "If it's really yours, then where is your name on it, huh? Show me where it says this dumpster belongs to you and I'll leave. But, I am pretty sure if it belongs to anyone, it's the restaurant's, or the city's or something. Uhm, I don't really know. But I know it's not yours!" He eyed his backpack that Yoongi had snatched from him. "And that is mine!"

Yoongi glared between the backpack and Jungkook, deciding to use the kid's own tactic on him. "Oh yeah? Show me where it says it's yours," he snarled as he started shaking the bag high above Jungkook's head.

"It's on the inside."

Yoongi slowly lowered the backpack. "What?"

"My name is on the inside. It's stitched into the back of the inside."

Yoongi didn't believe him, so when he looked inside the backpack and actually saw the name 'Jungkook' stitched into the back, he was a bit caught off guard. He paused for a second before proceeding to hastily take the food out. "Fine, well, I'm not here for the damn backpack anyway." He couldn't believe how much leftover stuff there was that Jungkook managed to find. It must be nice to able to afford to order all of this, and then not even eat it all.

Jungkook didn't know what to do as he watched Yoongi finish stealing the food and placing it in his own bag. Once he was done, Yoongi shoved the backpack into Jungkook's chest, causing him to stumble backwards a little bit as he gripped it.

Satisfied with the amount he took, Yoongi turned to escape the dumpster and get the hell out of there, but Jungkook's voice stopped him.

"If you're going to just take it like that, the least you could do is share a little."

Yoongi chuckled and turned to the younger, getting right in his face. "Hah! Share? With you? Why the hell would I do that?"

Jungkook puffed out his chest and stomped his foot. "Because I shared with you earlier, so it's only fair!"

"Welcome to the real world, kid. You'll learn quickly enough that life isn't fair." Rolling his eyes, Yoongi continued to leave.

Jungkook stepped forward. "You think I don't know that already? I'm well aware that life isn't fair, but I shared with you, the least could do is return the favor."

"I gave you the answers you wanted when you offered your stupid little snacks to me. So guess what? I don't owe you shit." Yoongi extended his arm to give Jungkook a slight shove, just enough to get him off his damn back so he could finally crawl up and out of the dumpster.

Jungkook looked around at all the trash bags that he'd already spent time ripping open, only to set his eyes on nothing but actual trash. He had already shoved everything worth taking into his backpack, but now Yoongi had taken it all and was disappearing with it. He climbed out of the dumpster and trailed behind Yoongi, who was trying to power walk away as quickly as he could back down and out of the alley. The younger boy had to practically run to keep up with him. He realized that earlier when he'd asked him where he lived, he didn't answer him. But Jungkook was also confused as to why Yoongi was out taking food from the dumpster, multiple times at that. "Did you run away too?" The boy was practically out of breath as he kept trailing behind.

Yoongi abruptly stopped and turned, causing Jungkook to accidentally crash right into him. He slowly backed away and saw the expression of anger form on Yoongi's face.

"You know, you really have some damn nerve, dude," Yoongi completely evaded Jungkook's question and continued, "why are you still out here? I already told you to go home earlier!"

"And I told you I've never had a home."

"Right, you came from the orphanage. That's what I meant." Yoongi pondered the statement for a second. He specifically remembered Jungkook saying that nobody was looking for him, and the more he thought about it, the more he realized he hadn't heard any whispers on the streets or anything about a missing child. He wondered if Jungkook was serious, that nobody was bothering to look for him, or if perhaps nobody from the orphanage had noticed he was missing yet, even though it'd been hours.

"I'm not going back to that place." Jungkook balled his hands into little fists and avoided eye contact with Yoongi. He didn't want to quite explain what his reasoning was, but he at least wanted Yoongi to understand that he had no intentions of returning.

"You know what? Whatever, honestly. It's not my business, and I really don't care where you came from or why you left. That's all on you. Where I came from, and where I'm going, is not any of your concern. So for the last time, leave me alone and stop following me!"

Jungkook's gaze finally met Yoongi's, his eyes were big and desperately pleading. "Can I please stay with you? I don't know where else to go or what else to do."

Yoongi took a step back and had to place his hands on his knees as he fell into a fit of laughter. He couldn't believe it was possible for someone to be so stupid. "Maybe you should have figured that out before you decided to run away, then, huh? I mean look at you," he pointed to Jungkook's seemingly new outfit and even his backpack with his name stitched into it, "brand new and clean shit to wear, and even custom stuff. Wherever you came from couldn't have even been that bad. You probably just got in trouble for something and you're being a big baby about it."

Jungkook took a step back, he narrowed his eyes at Yoongi, clearly expressing his distaste for the elder's comments. "Everyone has their name on their backpack. It's just a rule. It's not something special. There's a lot of reasons I left, and it wasn't something I hadn't been thinking of for a long time, for your information."

"Either way, you didn't know what you were doing. And guess what? It's not my job to teach you. Figure shit out on your own like the rest of us had to do."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "So you did run away."

"I'm leaving. Don't follow me." Yoongi turned and began to pace away as quickly as he could again, he planned on breaking out into a full sprint if he needed to. He didn't know why this kid, who he very much came off as quite the little (or big) pest, kept bugging him. That's how he felt at this point, like Jungkook really was some bug that he couldn't get to stop from buzzing around his head.

Jungkook stood in place as he watched Yoongi leave. He felt his chest grow heavy as it started to sink in that he really was alone out here. It was almost the middle of the night and he had nowhere to go and nobody to turn to. He was hoping due to their proximity in age, Yoongi would be willing to hang out and the two could become friends. Jungkook definitely didn't expect to run into another run away teenager out on the street. He still wondered what Yoongi's story was. He also wondered what kinds of things Yoongi had figured out on his own, because Jungkook wanted those answers too. He didn't know he needed some kind of plan when he ran away. The goal was to just get the hell out of the orphanage and stay out. That was it.

He stood still in his spot, lingering around in the dark as he contemplated what he could do from here. Perhaps there is someone else I can become friends with? He looked around and didn't see anyone else out on the streets at this hour. Just Yoongi basically running away from him, along with the food he took. His shoulders dropped as he sighed. What do I do now?

Yoongi slowed his pace down and caught his breath when he realized Jungkook was no longer following him. He couldn't believe how many times he had to ask the damn kid to leave him alone. What the hell made him think I was giving out open invitations into my damn life?

He strolled along to the place he had now been calling home for the past two years. It was a place a little ways out of the main city, and very deep into the woods. When he first found himself on the streets he spent time sleeping behind buildings and under bridges, but he kept getting harassed by others and decided he wanted to be somewhere more secluded and only go into the city when he needed supplies. He'd been living deep in the woods, away from any roads or trails. After two years, nobody had ever stumbled upon him because there was no public access. He'd created his own little trail, but even then, someone would have to find their way through branches and brush just to get to the little home he'd created for himself.

The small trail he'd made opened up into a little clearing, which was only there because he had spent a lot of his free time clearing it up himself. Someone would say it resembled a rather luxurious campsite at this point. The clearing was completely surrounded by trees, and the best part about the spot was that there was a rather big river that wasn't too far of a walk, so it was a place he could always go to when he felt like fishing. The fishing poles he had were things he'd taken from his parent's house when he left, along with the tent he slept in every night, it was a tent big enough for about four people, so it was quite spacious. The extra room held  lot of random supplies and a lot of clothes that he'd been able to collect.

Not too far from where his tent was set up, he had a nice big fire pit that he'd built himself, a huge circle of different sized rocks and stone slabs.  Two big logs sat parallel to each other on opposite sides of the pit. Close enough to keep warm and cook things over the open flame when he needed to, but far enough away to not burn to ash. He'd acquired various totes and buckets where he kept a lot of cooking supplies such as pots and pans, hooks and platforms that held the pans over the fire. He had jugs of water for drinking and showering, toiletries, flashlights, head lamps, books, lighters, journals (which he really only used to write lists of supplies/food down), and he'd even ventured a bit far from the clearing to make another small clearing that acted as a bathroom, equipped with toilet paper, bars of soap, more jugs of water, hand sanitizers and wipes, and even a random toilet seat he'd found.

Using nothing but the moonlight to find his way through the woods and back to his little private oasis, he slumped down onto one of the logs next to the fire pit as he threw his bag full of food down next to him. Finally, I can relax. After resting for a moment he decided to light some matches and get a fire going. It had gotten a bit chilly, and he liked using the fires to light up the area as well when it was dark out.

Once the fire was started, he started picking through his bag to decide what he wanted to eat first, the smell alone made his mouth start watering. He decided on the half-rack of ribs and immediately started scarfing it down. While relaxing by the fire and enjoying the food, he started to hear a loud rustling noise coming from the other side of where the fire pit was. He was used to it, because it meant an animal was nearby. If he was lucky, he'd usually be able to catch them for food. He ran into his tent and grabbed a small pocket knife, trying to be quiet so he wouldn't scare the little animal away.

Then he realized whatever this animal was wasn't little. It actually sounded quite large, which made him tense with nerves because he knew it could possibly be a fisher cat or something else that was dangerous and not worth trying to catch. He started to contemplate whether or not he should stand out there and wait for it to approach closer. While he was busy contemplating this, he screamed when he saw just what came out from behind a tree.

More like who

Yoongi couldn't believe his eyes as he tripped backwards. "No way. No, no, no...this can't be...you can't be..."

He regained his balance as he stood there staring at Jungkook, who was holding his hands together and staring at him with his big beady eyes again. "I followed you. I'm sorry. I didn't know where else to go."

Yoongi still couldn't believe this was happening. It was a long and stressful day, and he figured this had to all be a part of his imagination. He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose while whispering to himself, "It's finally happened...

 ...I've gone completely insane."
