Intertwined Fingers

Katsuki frowned down at his shaking fingers in Ejirou's hold. His were shaking too. The rubble around them submerged their legs. They couldn't move. The blaring ruckus of exhausting outside noise had come to a sudden halt along with the rest of the building. Unsettling and comfortable really. Like how it seems like the worst is over but only the beginning has been seen.

The unpleasant stench of copper poisoned the air and the blood flowing out of Katsukis abdomen made him sticky. Kirishima huffed, lifting his arm and rubbing circles into his arm and shoulder joint. He smiled sadly.

"Can't move?" he croaked, voice pained, deep and hoarse. He brought his arm down and smoothed his thumb against Katsukis wrist. Who shivered at the touch.

He shook his head in answer, groaning as his neck cracked uncomfortably.

"We're gonna die here, " Katsuki whispered.

"I know."

"I'm going to die here with you" he smiled sincerely.

"I know." kirishima reiterated.

"And I don't mind."

Kirishima's grin was nothing compared to how he felt inside. He felt happy, tears streamed down his face. He let them be, he enjoyed them, accepted them and all they meant, how many words they spoke alone.

He wished to move closer. Provide one last embrace, but he couldn't. Yet he felt lucky, to be able to spend the last couple of hours here. His last couple minutes. Seconds.

Katsuki opened his palm, tiny useless sparks flew out. He grinned sadly. He was neglecting the tears on his face too. Kirishima did the same, attempting to solidify his arm, but all he got was a jolt of pain in response.

"I'm happy." is what he settled with. In the distance, sirens blared, the two could hear various names being called. But none of their own.

"To be here, with you. I love it." he completed.

There was blood pouring excessively out of his face. Katsuki noted how the other's eyes were lazying to the back of his head, only to be forced front and center.

Katsuki reached the same hand out. The other wouldn't move. He wiped Ejirou's face and palmed over the wound. It didn't stop bleeding.

"I am too," Katsuki spoke in a hushed whisper. His hand found its way to Ejirou's cheek. He held it there.

"I'm lucky," Katsuki added, voice shaky.

"I don't know where we're going, Kat." he sighed. A loud sound from above startled them both, it was another building from above. "But I'm happy I'm going with you."

Now tears were falling freely. Katsuki's hand fell back to Ejirou's, he squeezed weakly, coughed, and smiled again.

"You're the only one," Katsuki spoke through broken tears. "The only one worth falling in love with. Ejirou... Ejirou... Ejirou."

Ejirou moved his hands to hold tightly, tighter. Securely, and intertwined their fingers. He closed his eyes. And although Katsuki couldn't feel through one hand, the gesture sparked a welcome warmth through his body, he closed his eyes as well.

"I love you too. Katsuki." the name felt sweet on his tongue.

the building fell.

Right over intertwined fingers.
