His Left Hand
~
"She should never be with that man!" He exclaimed, in frustration and jealousy. "You can tell that she clearly doesn't love him and never has!"
~
What a pleasant surprise this was. The polka dots on his suit catching the light from the lantern out front..... And what a lovely view he was, standing there with that pathetic smile hiding the feelings he truly felt, rage.
She knew it the moment when he couldn't keep his gaze off of her, the moment she was introduced as that scoundrels wife, the ex one, at that. Perhaps it was her his rage went to: but that would only make this more fun. Turning a man's rage to lust, now that was thrilling.
"Oh my, I hope you weren't waiting long for me! Come in!" (Y/n) feigned innocence once more. She knew he'd come around eventually. Though she'd expected him earlier, at least he was alone.
"Oh, no! Not at all." Splendor reassured, taking her offer and entering the home. (Y/n) ushered him to the sofa, making sure he was comfortable.
"Can I get you anything? Coffee, tea, water? Perhaps some hot cocoa, Splendor—" she pauses for effect with a gentle gasp. "Oh, how foolish of me, it's too inappropriate for me to address you by your first name so soon, my apologies."
"No, no! It's alright!" Splendor comforted, taking the woman's hands in his own. "Splendor is fine and some hot cocoa would be lovely Ms. (L/n)."
She walked off with a smile and as soon as he couldn't see her, she smirked. Her heart racing with excitement. His hands were so much larger than her own, the fact made her excited despite it being such an obvious and minor detail.
The cocoa was easy to make, considering she had made it earlier that day and already had it figured out. It was a tad chilly this night and (Y/n) had taken it upon herself to enjoy it. Granted, more innocently than normal.
(Y/n) soon returned to the couch with two mugs in hand. She gave one to him and kept the other to herself.
"Careful, it's hot." She whispered a seductive string in her voice. "Now, what made you decide to come all the way out here to visit little Ol me?"
"Oh! I was hoping to understand the relationship between you and Don Simone better." Splendor inquired after clearing his throat. (Y/n) had to force herself to not roll her eyes, of course this is why he was here. Not to hungrily address his jealousy, just to see if there was anything to be jealous about.
Despite the fact (Y/n) tended to be manipulative, she wasn't a liar.
"Don Simone is my ex husband. I was forced to marry him by my father. And as his wife and the supposed-to-be Don of the now retired Gyre's I am now his left hand." (Y/n) took a sip of her cocoa and let a real frown take over her lips. "I divorced him as soon as my father died. An inappropriate discussion, though more inappropriate to introduce an ex-wife as a current wife."
"My apologies, Ms. (L/n). There was just a lot of confusion during the meeting, but me and my brothers believe you should not feel unsafe here. As long as you are in this forest, we will protect you. Unfortunately, we cannot interfere much in your territories." Splendorman explained, trying to reassure her. She gave him a small smile and sat on the sofa beside him.
"I appreciate your protection. However, I hold no concern inside the office. Without me that man would have no gang. When I married him, he was selling drugs with a few friends." She begins, crossing her legs to her side, riding up her skirt slightly. "Almost everyone there respects me, so unless he pays the right price, I'm safe. But he knows better."
"You sound like the anchor of this gang." Splendor states, sounding almost awkward.
If it wasn't for all those years of training she would've wondered why. She wasn't hurt, nor was she any less excited about this. Out of anything, this was becoming her advantage. She shifts to sit completely upright and frowned once more.
"This isn't some sort of trick is it?" Playing the victim was easy for many manipulators, but few could do it well. The man looked at a loss for words, lost. "Were you coming here to kill me?"
"Oh heavens no!" Splendor quickly speaks up, hopping out of the chair, ready to plea his innocence even if she tried to run.
(Y/n) froze beneath him, tightening her grip on the mug. She wanted to appear fearful and skeptical. Make him beg.
"My brother's rivals are viewing this partnership as being beneath the Evergreens foot." Splendor began to explain. (Y/n) stood quickly.
"So you plan to erase us? Or is it to just take over and kill those who disobey?" She questions, faking calm rage. "I am unapologetic for cutting this short, Sir, but I believe you have worn out your stay."
He looked shocked, sad, and angry all at once. Splendor nodded, thanked her for the cocoa and left. As soon as he was gone: (Y/n) smiled as she cleaned their mugs.
'How wonderful...' she sighs in thought. Not an ounce of her cared of the Brothers betrayal. If this brother was truly so enthralled by her, this will be a simple negotiation. Classy or normal. She would soon taste his emotions on her tongue, and she was all the more excited to watch her ex's gang fall.
"Slender please, leave her out of this."
"I promised not to hurt her and right now Splendor, that's all I can do."
