okay so the impulsive thoughts won and I started editing this yesterday like the little silly guy that I am. I can't believe I did this for a fic idea that's literally still AN IDEA and not even a detailed draft. I can't even do graphics for my existing ASOIAF fic and then I  went on to do this 😭

soooo here goes nothing, my head just went 📈📉📉📈📉📈 while doing making this gifset

Everyone, meet Maekar Targaryen, one of my Game of Thrones OCs that manage to be an actual OC HAH. I currently have a bunch of GOT fic ideas, two of which includes a surviving Targ mc, one is this and one with Aeric Dayne (that's for another whole chapter) I love them both but I end up having more inspo to edit Maekar.

I tried to do the Tumblr giffing type of edit, and honestly I don't know if I got it right. This is very pretty gifset and I'm happy on how it turned out but idk 😭 I'm very self conscious and I don't think I have the confidence to post this anywhere else SGSKZHDHSHSJSJ

also if you see any typos on the text, you don't 🫶🫶🫶  I made this until like vvv late at night so my brain was definitely wonky

I'd love to tell y'all more about Maekar but like I said he's pretty much a very new OC, so there's not yet much about him. I'm still plotting things and most of it are still literally in my head 💀 but here's what I have so far: Maekar is the second child and son of Aerys & Rhaella, he was closer in age to Rhaegar compared to Viserys so remembers more about what it's like during the last years of the Targaryen reign. Since he's the first son to survive after years of miscarriages, Aerys became possessive of him. This led Maekar to have an unhealthy bond with his father where he follows him like a shadow despite the man's cruelty and abuse.

When Rhaegar died on the Trident, Aerys didn't send Maekar to Dragonstone with the rest of their family. He was determined to name him his heir after the war, so he was present in the throne room at the Red Keep when his father died. After the war, he was the only remaining Targaryen in Westeros and Robert wanted him dead but Ned begged for Maekar's life given he was a child. The council ended up with two options so he won't be a challenge to the succession, send the boy to the Night's Watch or in the Citadel. Robert chose the latter so Maekar will be a novice then a maester instead of a warrior.

That's his backstory so far, I haven't thought of much of his personality and characterization but I can see Maekar being extremely reclusive until adulthood and very reluctant to be around people, considering how his life went after his brother's death.

Also I kinda wanna add this, even though this is very premature idea, Maekar is a dragon dreamer and has strong ties to the magic of Old Valyria. So his story will lean more on the fantasy and magic element of ASOIAF. Like Aegon's Dream, the PTWP/Azor Ahai, the Others, the Eternal Winter etc. He will be less interested in involving himself in the politics of Westeros so I don't see him being a threat to Dany's journey for the throne. In his dreams he doesn't need more wars, he needs the kingdoms united because of the great threat he sees coming for them.

sooo that's it, I think I got everything covered. I don't know if this will be developed into a fic anytime soon since I'm otw to freshman year but I hope I find enough motivation and writing inspiration to make this a real thing. lastly, PLEASE someone nag me to make a gifset for my HOTD fic even if it's only for Daenys 😭 I really want to but omg I need a big push for it HAH
