Is This Just A Dream?

"Come on, Y/N!" Your friend called from the bathroom of your apartment, "you have to come out tonight! You never do anything fun these days, just stuffing your face in textbooks, which may I add is ridiculous."

"Nicole," you huffed, "finals are coming up, the last thing I need to do is go get drunk at some bar and wake up in a stranger's bed."

"Uh, that's called living," Nicole laughed as she coated on her bright red lipstick for the fifteenth time.

"Well I guess you do a lot of that," you mumbled, closing your textbook.

"I heard that!"

You laughed and rolled your eyes. The thought crossed your mind that perhaps just one night of 'living a little' wouldn't kill you.

"Alright," you sighed, getting up and leaning against the bathroom doorway to look at your friend, "I'll come."

"Y/N! You're shitting me, right?" She questioned, her lipstick looking brighter against the lighting.

"No, I'm afraid I'm not," you smirked.

"YES! Holy shit, yes!" She squealed, running to you and engulfing you in her embrace.

"Okay okay," you laughed, "enough hugging, you know I hate that mushy stuff."

"Sorry," Nicole said with a giddy smile, "go get dressed, I'll be waiting here."

You smiled and headed to your bedroom. 'What am I going to wear?' You thought to yourself while looking through your rather empty closet. Partying and going out was not part of your typical routine, so having a party outfit was rather rare. But, you eventually settled for a charcoal gray crop top, black leggings, and combat boots. It wasn't fancy, but it would have to do.

You made your way to the bathroom to apply some makeup, for you it was a lot, but in Nicole's standards, it was very minimal.

"Hunter will be here soon," Nicole stated while shuffling through her mock Valentino bag.

"Wait, you invited your boyfriend?" You questioned with disgust evident in your voice.

"Well I didn't think you were coming. Come on, it'll be fine," she reassured.

"If third wheeling is your definition of 'fine' then okay," you sighed, throwing your hair into a sloppy high ponytail.

Nicole chuckled as you two headed downstairs to meet her boyfriend. When he arrived you all hopped into his car and headed to the nearest club. Finding one that was open on a Saturday night in LA was going to be next to impossible. Thankfully Hunter had some connections and you were making your way into a fancy club in no time.

The place was lit by colorful flashing neon lights. Music was blaring and it smelled of smoke and alcohol. Nicole headed straight for the bar and handed you a drink. You weren't sure what it was but it tasted bitter and sweet at the same time. Nicole laughed at your expression and downed it for you.

"Hunter and I are going to go dance!" Nicole yelled over the thundering music.

"What am I supposed to do?" You objected.

"Meet us at the bar in ten!"

You tried to complain but Hunter was already dragging her through the crowd and she soon was out of sight.

With a huff, you sauntered to the nearest bar stool. "Need a drink, hon?" The bartender asked with a sympathetic smile.

"Give me your strongest, please."

"You got it," he winked, pouring some liquid into a glass. He slid it to you and you downed it in seconds, lifting your glass up to indicate for another.

By your fifth glass you began to feel a little sick. You weren't accustomed to alcohol and surely your stomach would object to it in the morning. But Nicole and Hunter hadn't returned, and it had already been an hour since you last saw them. So you figured why not get wasted and once again held your glass up.

"You might want to slow down," a voice commented from beside you.

You turned to your right to find a very handsome and VERY tall man looking down at you. Brown hair slicked back but falling loosely at the front, plush pink lips, and green eyes that made even the rainforest look dull.

"W-what?" You stuttered.

He smiled and took a seat next to you. "I couldn't help but notice you from the other side of the bar. Friends stand you up?" He questioned, green eyes studying you.

How you hadn't noticed him before surely took you by surprise. Perhaps you were too busy drowning in your own sorrows. But that didn't matter, what mattered was this gorgeous man was sitting right beside you.

"Oh, uh, yeah I suppose they did. My friend intended on meeting me here over an hour ago, guess that never happens when you bring your boyfriend here too," you laughed, carefully choosing your words so you didn't sound like a complete moron.

"I see," he chuckled, "well how's about I buy you a drink? Actually seems to me you've had a few too many, how about a water, or soda?"

"Water would be just fine," you smiled, probably looking giddy in the process. After all, you were tipsy and drooling over this man at the same time.

"I'm Bill by the way, and you are?"

"Y/N," you replied.

"That's a nice name, well it's nice to meet you," Bill said, perfect lips adding to a perfect smile.

"It's nice to meet you too, Bill. So, you seem to be here all alone, didn't you come here with anyone?" You questioned.

"Funny enough I'm sorta in the same situation as you. Friends invited me, and didn't show. Actually, they told me the wrong date," he said with a chuckle, "I texted them and they apologized and all, but I was here already and figured I could use a drink or two, so here I am."

"I'm sorry," you said with a laugh, tears forming in your eyes, "that's actually really funny."

You could smack yourself for laughing, but it was funny and your drunken state didn't help.

"I'm not offended," he said joining in on laughing, "it actually is pretty funny."

You wiped the tears away and finally settled down, the both of you sitting in silence. Oddly enough it was a comfortable silence, and even though you'd just met Bill, he seemed like an easy guy to get along with.

After what seemed like only ten minutes of conversing with Bill, you checked your phone to find that two hours had gone by.

"Oh my gosh!" You exclaimed, "it's getting really late, I've got finals coming up and, well I should really just be getting back."

"That's alright, I enjoyed our chat. Well, it was great meeting you, Y/N."

"It was nice meeting you too," you replied, grabbing you things and heading for the door. Why you were walking away so soon was beyond you, you were blowing your chance with the most attractive guy you'd met.

"Y/N?" Bill asked as you were about to leave, "could I walk you home?"

"Yeah, yes of course!" You said too excitedly. "I uh, I mean sure, that would be nice."

He chuckled, opening the door for you and following you out. The walk home was nice, the two of you exchanged numbers and talked about anything and everything. By the time you reached your apartment, parting ways with Bill gave you a melancholic feeling.

"Thanks for walking me home, Bill, I really appreciate it."

"Anytime," he smiled.

"Well, goodnight," you replied, still not moving. He didn't move either, you two just stared at one another, the space between you getting smaller.

His viridian eyes shifted from your eyes to your lips, and before you knew it his plush lips were connecting with yours. They were the softest lips you'd ever felt, slightly chapped but still so soft.

Bill pulled away and your foreheads rested against one another's, the both of you left smiling like idiots. His 6'4" towering height made you feel small in his arms, but surprisingly safe at the same time. Is this just a dream? Was this man actually falling for you? The way he looked at you made you feel as if you were the only girl that mattered in the world, and to him, you kind of were. Sure you two had just met, but there was a spark between you that couldn't be undone. Maybe Nicole's ways of living a little were different than yours, but to you, this was definitely the most you'd ever lived. And the best part was, you didn't regret it one bit.

Hiiiii everyone! I hope you all enjoyed this little blurb. Thank you for those of you who read the whole thing! There is more to come! Hope you all stick around! Love ya! 💚
