Chapter 21
Minato's POV
-----------------------
I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. I sighed, there was no point in trying to go to sleep, not when you know that your only daughter is in trouble and you can't help her. I turned my head and watched Kushina sleeping. Her beautiful long red hair was flowing across her pillow, her perfect face was sad, even in her sleep, and I could tell she was dreaming about Kasumi. I clenched my fists and got out of bed, angry at myself for what I was about to do, but what other choice did I have?! We'd already lost Deidara and Tobi's trail after our forces were weakened by their attack. We hadn't had suh a serious attack since the Nine Tails. I still had to kill Tobi for that, it had cost Kushina and I our lives, along with many other ninja who fell that night.
I put some clothes on and my Hokage cloak, before turning to leave the room. I glanced back at my sleeping wife, I quickly walked to her bedside and kissed her head.
'I'm sorry dear,' I whispered. 'Forgive me please Kushina, I beg,'
I rushed towards my office, not stopping for even a second. I looked down at the ground, noticing the cracked hard dirt from the lack of rain and smiled to myself...
----Flashback----
'Daddy! Daddy!'
I turned to see my little girl running towards me, red hair flowing behind her as the so blew, the biggest smile on her face
'What is it, Kasumi?' I asked opening my arms to embrace her. She ran into me flinging her small arms around my neck. I pulled her into a hug and let her go as she pulled away to look me in the eye.
'Daddy! You'll never guess what!?' She grinned, excitedly.
'What?' I asked, smiling. Kasumi bent her arm and put her left Han on her right upper arm, as if she were showing me her muscles. She had a sweet little smirk on her face.
'I've made my own jutsu! Come see Daddy, come see!' She laughed, pulling on my shirt sleeve. I followed her as he lead me through the bushes and trees into her small training field.
'Stand back, Daddy!' She grinned as she performed her own combination of hand signs.
'Earth style! Minor Earthquake Jutsu!' She called and placed both of her small palms on the ground. The earth did not shake very much, but instead created cracks in the once moist soil, making it dry as I there had been no rain and cracks as if you were in the desert. She stood up straight pleased with herself, then she turned to me, as if waiting for my approval of the jutsu. But I was mind blown, she was only five years old and she'd already created her own jutsu? And caused such a change in the surrounding environment? I was beaming with pride.
'Daddy?' She asked.
'Kasumi, that's amazing honey! Woah! Well done, honey!' I grinned, scooping her up in my arms and spinning her round. She giggled and laughed.
'So you're proud of me then, Daddy?' She asked. I stopped.
'Kasumi, I am the proudest Daddy in the world, I am so proud of you, I always have been and I promise you that I always will be, proud of you,' I whispered to her. She grinned, a gleam in her eye.
'I'll become Hokage and make you even prouder, Daddy! I promise!' She vowed and since that day, she'a kept that vow and I've kept my promise. As she learnt how to advance her jutsu, she created more, learning how the become more advanced with them too, her dream of becoming Hokage was so close she could almost reach it, and my pride, became more overwhelming by the day.
----end of flashback----
I stopped outside my office, pausing as I saw masked man in a black cloak with red clouds, standing by the doors, waiting for me.
'Well you're out late, aren't you, Minato Sensei?' The dark voice said. I flinched, I knew it, if he wasn't here then he must still be alive. I would've seen him around somewhere, but now this was the first.
'Well, I should say the same for you too...Obito,' I replied coldly. The man snickered.
'So you worked it out then, huh? Well done Minato Sensei, I knew you were clever from the start,' he snickered. I narrowed my eyes at my former student.
'What do you want? What is your business here in my village?' I demanded.
'Heard you had a bit of trouble Sensei, with your...daughter, am I right?' He mocked. I flinched.
'How would someone like you know about that?' I asked. Obito walked towards me, his hand reaching up towards his mask...
'Gossip gets around, y'know? Gets around pretty quick,' he chuckled walking out from the shadows and into the moonlight. I reached for my kunai, ready...
'So you've got a little girl now?' He asked, slowing down a bit.
'That's none of your concern, Obito,'
'Kasumi-Akane isn't it? Mist and Brilliant Red, hmm? Well those aren't the only names she's got. She's known through out the Land of Waves as the Blind Red. Y'know she's come far since you last set your eyes on her...'
'Shut up,' I mumbled.
'But it's a shame she's got those ugly scars across her eyes now, she had a pretty face before the accident in the Land of the Waves...' He began to tease, making me worried. Accident?
'What accident?' I demanded.
'Haven't you been watching over her, Minato Sensei? Like the way you watch over your precious village? The way you used to watch over us?!'
'Tell me what happened to my Kasumi!' I growled.
'It's her eyes, they're gone, not the same as they used to be...after all, why do you think they're calling her Blind Red?'
My eyes widened and I flicked my kunai to where Obito had stopped. I appeared in front of him, catching my kunai just in front of him, I reached out my free hand an grasped his neck, pinning him against the wall.
'WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HURT MY LITLE GIRL?!' I demanded, putting the edge of my blade to his throat.
'It wasn't me, Sensei, Zabuza, one Of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, who appared here with his friend Haku, only about a week ago, he is the one responsible for your daughter's blindness, although she is cured for now, but another blow to her eyes and she's blinded during life...and death....'
I narrowed my eyes at the masked boy, my former student who had once won my respect and pride...but that was no more, that was in the past. And what connection did he have with Kasumi?
'What do I have to do to get my daughter back?' I said tightening my grip on my kunai.
Obito laughed, a sick evil laugh.
'You won't have to worry about her, she'll be taken care of, we'll make sure of it but y'know Minato Sensei, your little girl's gifts are the key to the Nine Tails, she'll make very good use to us, she'll fit right in with the Akatuski. And when we're done, we'll make sure she'll have a quick and easy one, however she won't be returning to you, no, she won't be returning to anyone. Give it up Minato, your precious daughter will be beyond our world and yours, Kasumi will soon be Beyond Konoha...'
My eyes widened and my whole body wet numb as Obito began to fade, turning into ash and dust as he left. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I took it all in. They want the Nine Tails, if they use Kasumi to get to Naruto, then he was in danger! But when they're done with Kasumi...
I broke into a run, back to Kushina, had to tell her about Kasumi...they're going to kill Kasumi!
-----------------------------------------
So the secret's out. A few chapter ago, Minato was hinting to Kushina that they should some how have Kasumi killed in a certain way (by a loved one) in order to return to them but it was too risky and Kushina wouldn't hear of it. But if someone else such as a member of the Akatsuki were to kill Kasumi, then she'd never be able to return to naruto'a dimension or her own, sending her Beyond Konoha...I hope that you Guys enjoyed the chapter and that you kinda understand what all this is about. Anyway enjoy & happy new year!!
