9.

It was pretty evident that I was going to die.

I shook my head free of sweat, seeing my hands beginning to change colors. I was sure I had lost blood flow. I mean, there was no feeling in my hands whatsoever. I knew for a fact that this would be where I died.

So I let myself think about everything that happened.

First, I beat up that dumbass cop for insulting my parents. Second, I had lost my best friend. Third, I had somehow managed to lose Natanya without even trying. Fourth, the demon lord rose from Hell to come and get me. Fifth, I was no doubt turned on with the way that he spoke to me last night.

I didn't know if it was from the lack of sex or what, but that man had a way with words and it pained me to admit that I thought about how true those words would be. The way he stared into my soul, gold eyes twitching as if they could see everything within me, made me want to see how far he could bend me without doing a single thing. It made me wonder if he could relinquish all of my desires without touching me, without caressing me. His breath alone on my skin was enough to warrant my endless dreams.

And that was my cue to stop thinking about him.

"Does anyone have any Lucky Charms?" I called out into the dark and quiet room, knowing that there wasn't anyone in the room with me. These chains were starting to tear at my wrists and I feared that the bracelet would break. "Ya boy is starving." I could tell that my stomach was starting to eat itself. It was an epiphany that I didn't faint from 14 hours without food.

I closed my eyes blearily, groaning at the pain in my legs. I couldn't believe that I managed to stand for so long; it was unreal. I just wanted to die at this point. I was hungry, in pain, delirious. I kept thinking I was seeing ghosts in the corner of the room even though the room was dark. I kept envisioning Maddox staring at me with those gold eyes, resulting in me being hot and bothered. God, was I attracted to him now?

Nah, probably not.

I heard the hissing of a melting sound and I looked up to the door, seeing the lock being seared off by a flame. "What the hell?" I moved curiously, the chains rattling in my ear. "Please watch your language," All of a sudden, a tall, red demon entered the room with the girl from yesterday by his side. I grinned lethargically as they levitated over me, a glowing hand held to the chains and I braced myself for the fall as the chains melted into thin air. I crashed to the ground with a yelp, clutching my wrists tightly.

"Damn," I scrambled to my feet, seeing nothing but yellow eyes as a light. I whined to myself, feeling welts around my wrists. That was going to be a pain to heal later. "Let's go," The taller demon growled lowly and I complied, thoughts of where he was taking me filling my mind. I could feel the sensation returning my legs that were static, an uncomfortable rush coating my lower half. I couldn't even feel my dick.

They both were silent as they led me out into the hallway, glances of annoyance shared between them. They had their guns in hand as their skin glowed red, their markings gold. This was so unreal. It felt like a dream because I couldn't just be roaming freely in the kingdom of Hell. It was not possible. "Hey," I spoke, hating awkward silence.

"If I remember, your name is Nya!" I pointed at the familiar girl, who just glared at me, wanting me to shut up. I was really in the enemy's kingdom right now. "What is it that you do?" I pondered, questioning to myself why they were taller than me even when on foot. "I'm the first division commander of the demon code enforcement," She monotoned, giving me the vibe that she really hated me. I pouted before looking to the other one, the male.

"Do you have a name or do I just call you 'bitch face' since that's how you always look?" I shrugged, ignoring his fierce glare. I knew he wanted to kill me. I could see the look in his eyes. "...Merino Capaldi," I furrowed my brow at the first and last name, wondering why he seemed to have two names but no one else did. "But you can call me Jexan. One can know me as the advisor to Sir Alistair," He relented and I nodded eventually, remembering that I had questions to ask.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked. This was no ordinary treatment for someone who broke the law countless times. Jexan fixed me with his yellow eyes, trying to study me. "For some reason, Sir Alistair intends on keeping you alive so we must treat you well until he comes to his decision," Jexan didn't seem to like me and I gathered that from his tone. "Hm," I mused as we walked down a dark hallway, nothing but the light from the candles guiding us. Everything seemed so sad and empty and dull; a black hole.

"What does Maddox want from me?" Nya growled lowly, taking a deep breath. Ooh, someone was mad. "Do not call him that, human. You are inferior to us," She hissed, glaring a hole in the side of my head. I turned to Jexan for answers, wanting to know my business here. "No one knows, but it's in your best interest to do exactly as he says," The markings on his naked body began to glow. "You are walking on thin ice and it's only a matter of time before he calls off your life and we all get a chance to torture you," Jexan licked his fangs, raising a claw.

I tilted my head, wondering he meant by that. "You have enemies here and no friends, Mr. Morelli. It would be in your best interest not to anger any of us because we could snap your neck if we wanted to," Jexan warned, a tick in his jaw and I nodded, listening.

As if.

Nya growled once again as we walked past a whole squadron of demon cops, their eyes lidding over in fury at the recognition of me. Aye, they knew who I was. I was just that unforgettable. I was brought to an abrupt stop as I slammed into the red chest of a cop, nose burning in pain as I stepped back with a screech. "Ow! God damn! What the hell are you made of?" I whined, looking into the eyes of anger.

"You," The demon hissed, raising an oozing claw, no doubt, wanting to slash my throat with it. "Me," I mocked as he inched down, peering into my face. "Esaeu ona," He seethed, small particles of saliva leaving his mouth as he scanned me from head to toe. I furrowed my nose, backing up. "Damn, your breath smells like hot garbage," I grimaced, wondering if his fellow demon girlfriend kissed him with that mouth he had. "Get away from me with your October 31st looking ass,"

Why were some of these demons so ugly? I really wanted to know the answer to that question. Jexan had just warned me not to make any more enemies, but it was what I did on a daily basis. I couldn't be me without doing so. It was sad because I really didn't care for life.

Jexan gripped my shoulder, shooting me a heavy warning glare. I could feel tremors shooting through my body from his webbed hand. "Remember. Your. Place," He gritted through sharp teeth, narrowing his eyes. "Zaennes. Sa gaeaz trael oresyirdh," He whispered to the demon in front of me, his red chest heaving with each pant. The cop wrapped a hand around my neck, slighting squeezing it as if he was trying to intimidate me. "Ai."

I held my breath until the demon let me go, shooting him my fiercest stare. He sneered angrily as he stepped past me, threatening to light me on fire as he went. Wow, someone was upset today. "Mr. Morelli, please stop angering people. You'll only make Sir Alistair's job harder and then, he won't able to save even you," Jexan snapped and I went quiet, folding my arms. "Whatever. Just take me to wherever you're taking me," I scowled and he nodded, leading me towards a black door among the many of them.

I opened the door to see an all-black bedroom, and a demon standing beside the bed with a towel in her hand. "Ooh! Gothic, I see." I mused as I limped my way in, the darkness of the room swallowing me whole. "We will come back in a while to make sure you haven't destroyed anything, human," Nya grunted before closing the door on her and Jexan. I clapped my hands in glee. Who would've thought I would have a room in Hell?

What the hell did Maddox have in mind for me?

"Ooh," I raised a brow at the cute and chubby demon girl in front of me. Her red skin diminished into fair and porcelain silk, exposing her true beauty. "What's your name, sweet thing?" I winked at her and she blushed, looking away. "My name is Availa," She bowed courteously and I smirked, not really caring for the treatment. "I am your demon attendant as Sir Alistair has requested my service for you."

Services, huh?

Troy, get your god damn head out of the gutter.

"My name is Troy Morelli but you can call me whatever you want," I smirked and she fiddled with her fingers. I took in her average stature, her big green eyes that were hidden behind her black glasses, framed with her dirty blonde hair that fell around her shoulders. "So what is it that you'll be doing for me?" I quickly reined in the charm as I didn't want to get into any more shit with Maddox.

"I will bring you food, clothes, whatever it is that you need. I will clean your room for you just as a regular servant would," Availa nodded and I hummed, wondering why there were demons who had jobs like this. I threw myself on the black sheets, thinking about how I was going to get out of here. It was obvious that Maddox had something up his sleeve, and I was too wary to even want to know what it was. I had broken all of the laws at some point, and he had to be crafting up something so evil to combat that.

It made me wonder if it had something to do with his words from last night.

"How old are you, Availa?" I asked and the girl stepped closer. "In human years, I am 23 but in demon years, I'm 104," I blinked several times as she smiled at me. "Excuse me, what?" I stammered, wondering if that was even a thing. Like how was that possible? Then again, we were in Hell. Everything was possible here. "Then how old is your lord?" I raised a brow, knowing he looked too damn good to be young or old.

"Sir Alistair is 31 in human years, but 315 in demon years."

I nearly spat out all of the saliva in my mouth once her words settled in my brain. "That big ass man is how old!?" I screeched, making sure that I wasn't hearing things because I could've hearing things. "Yes," Availa bowed with a grin on her face. "He is 315. Doesn't look it though, right?" She winked, sensing my thoughts. "Uh, no one that crazily attractive can be that old. I don't even see the wrinkles. Do ya'll by any chance do botox down here?" I raised a brow and she chuckled, shaking her head.

"I believe that is all Sir Alistair," She clutched her black dress and I saw a necklace around her neck, a beautiful gold necklace with a pink diamond. "That's nice. Who gave you that?" I motioned to her jewelry and her face fell as she looked up at me. "Oh," She tensely smiled. "Someone I love gave it to me," There was a faraway look in her eyes and it didn't take me long to put two and two together, so I decided to change the subject.

"Do you have any medicine to put on my wounds?" I held up my wrists and she nodded, walking over to me. "Give me your hand," With a narrowed look, I carefully placed my wrists in her grasp. "I can't do much," All of a sudden, there was a white glow from her hands surrounding mine. "But this should do it," She smiled softly as the bruised flesh melted away, revealing healed skin.

"What the hell?" I gasped. "How did you do that?" I waved my wrists around, feeling no pain. Availa smiled bashfully, little horns peeking out at the top of her head. "It's just a small power that I have," Aw, my servant was so cute. Maybe being here wouldn't be so bad after all. She seemed like someone I could become friends with.

Even if she had a darker secret looming over like a shadow, waiting to consume her entirely.

A knock on the door knocked us out of our stupor. "Enter!" I yelled out, on high alert as to who it could be. "It is I," Jexan opened the door and floated in, a stern look on his face and I remembered a questioned that I had to ask him. "Hey, Merino!" I called out, not really thinking about it. He looked at me funnily, ready to attack. I waved his discomfort away, making myself at home with demons.

"Is there a way that I can get my phone?" I asked. "I want to talk to my sister and let her know that I'm still alive," I folded my arms as Jexan shook his head, declining my request. "If the demon lord says no, then no," He was very adamant as a ball of fire began to emerge from the palm of his hand. I rolled my eyes, knowing that I was going to get my phone back. No one could keep me from it. "I feel sorry for you. You will have a sparsely attended funeral," I blinked, almost comfortingly in a mocking way and he scowled.

I blew out a breath, acknowledging the fact that Jade was probably going crazy out of her mind. She was probably crying right now because she thought I was dead. I mean, it wasn't too long before that thought became a reality. I was the rock of our friendship and now that I was gone, she had nothing to protect, though it was me protecting her.

"Whatever," He folded his arms. "Sir Alistair wishes to speak with you," His fangs crowded his lips as he frowned, his skin turning to a pale color. "What? Why?" I sputtered. It wasn't that I didn't want to see the man, but I was a bit scared because everything was happening so fast. Just 24 hours ago, I was hanging out with Jade and we were laughing our asses off about nothing and for once in our lives, we felt as if we would make it through.

It turned out to be a whole lie.

Here I was, in the very deep cage that was Maddox Kane's hand, the bars gradually getting tighter and tighter, reminding me that I didn't have too long. "Okay," I stated casually, rising to my feet. "I'm coming," I followed Jexan as he floated us throughout the large castle, not even interacting with the various demons who snarled at me on the way. I felt uneasy. I felt trapped. I just wished that I had Jade beside me to help me get through this, but I knew I was on my own because I got myself into this situation.

"Sir Alistair," Jexan bowed his head as we entered a large room, black to the core as the sound of crackling fire filled our ears, warming our skin. There, by the fire, stood a tall man donned in dress pants and a blue shirt, the sleeves rolled back and his hair tousled. "Enter, Jexan," His voice was calm yet so deep, stirring my inner core. "I see you have brought Mr. Morelli," He turned, those gold eyes beaming into my own as he smirked devilishly, revealing his inner nature.

I had to remember that this was the man who killed my parents. This was the man who was responsible for our endless pain and suffering. No matter what, he could not and would not gain any of my response or cooperation.

"What do you want from me?" I asked, blatant disregard for his title. He took in a deep breath, calming himself down as a red halo formed around his body, a direct disposition of his room. He reached a hand up at a chair and with the snap of his fingers, I found my body surged towards the chair. "Please have a seat before you anger me indefinitely," His voice was stern and calculating, reminding of who I was talking to. His aura screamed dominating as he reached a hand up to caress his black hair.

I stayed silent, staring at him, taking in his strong form. He really didn't look that old. Judging by some of the names that the girls called me in bed, I'd say that he took the look of a daddy. Who knew anymore? I rolled my eyes, chastising myself as the two began to discuss other things, ignoring my presence.

"Zero says the human wishes to die," Jexan muttered to Maddox, who was chewing on some chips, deep in thoughts. I started to eavesdrop, hearing that mention of Zero again. "What should we do, Sir Alistair?" Jexan bowed and Maddox raised a brow. "Tell her to continue to torture him for a bit longer and then let's see what happens," He stated after a while. "He only broke two laws, but he'll serve an example of what happens when one dares to defy me," An evil smirk came to his lips and I could feel rage coursing through me like waves hitting the shore.

"Hold up," I stepped out of the shadows, much to their dismay, an angry expression written all over my face as I stormed over to them. Call it stepping out of line, I didn't care. His blatant disrespect for us humans was enough for me to call it a wrap. "Let that human go. Your shitty laws aren't even laws. They're just ways for you to control what we do," I folded my arms, watching Maddox rise to his feet off of his desk.

"What is it to you, Mr. Morelli?" He asked in a stoic tone, his gold eyes boring into my soul and I raised a brow. "W-what do you mean, what's it to me?!" I asked incredulously. "It's everything to me!" Jexan went to move to me, but I stepped closer to Maddox, wanting him to hear some words.

"We didn't ask for you to come and take over our world! We didn't ask for you to send your god damn laws to our doors and expect us to follow them! We sure as hell didn't ask for you to come and kill our people like you did," I gritted my teeth, clenching my hands. "So if you could, for once in your fucking life, put yourself in our shoes and understand why we don't want to listen to you!?" I screeched, throwing my hands in the air to make a point.

"What gives you the right to justify how we die?" I shook my head, knowing I had a lot more to say and I was going to say it without regards to the consequences. "You really do live up to your rumors, you know that? You don't give a damn about us and how we feel. You only care about your fucking demons. You never walked a day in our shoes and you want to come and take over what we earned? You want to tell us how to live our lives? You aren't shit, Maddox Kane," I spat coldly, watching his eyes glide over in fury.

"Watch what you say, Mr. Morelli," Maddox growled lowly, a pair of black wings sprouting from holes in his back. "You don't know me," The room started to shake and rattle, the shadow of his wings taking up the entire wall as his eyes turned black. I shuddered from the intensity of his aura, fighting the urge to surrender to his compelling.

"And you never will."
