Chapter 16- Margaret's POV

I bit back a small sigh of relief and rubbed my hands together before I cleared my throat and licked my lips. "Oh, thank God," I said, and I couldn't help but breathe another sigh of relief while I shifted on my feet, slowly starting to relax.

Blake bit back a small snort when he saw me relax. "I am sorry about him, Mags," he said and bit back a small smile while he tucked his head closer to his chest. "He's been taking this harder than anyone else." He shrugged and grimaced, pressing his lips into a thin line while his cheeks turned red. "Unfortunately, I am not able to say a lot, so I would like to apologize..." He trailed off and shifted on his feet.

The other male shook his head and rubbed the back of his neck, biting back a small smile. "Ya, I am sorry about that. I shouldn't have said something like that."

I bit back a small chuckle and shook my head. "Don't be," I said and shifted on my feet, growing serious. "Now, can you go ahead and show me where the water trough is, please?" I asked and cocked my head to the side while I studied him. "I'd like to get that done before I do anything else." I bit back a tired sigh and rubbed the bridge of my nose, pursing my lips in annoyance. "I still have to go shopping for stuff, even though all I want to do is nap."

Blake bit back a small laugh and nodded in confirmation. "That's understandable," he said. "Why don't we do that later after your nap, and you talk about everything with my brother? I can show you different places and then we can go to the school. We can see if the school is still open so that you can get your brother and daughter registered, or we can do that tomorrow if the school is closed."

I breathed a small sigh of relief and nodded, grateful that he would help me with all of that. "That would be amazing," I said and moved a hand through my hair and across my face. "But for now, why don't we go see the water trough so that we can get it filled with water?" I flashed him a small smirk and a wink.

Blake smiled and nodded, biting back a small chuckle. "Sure," he said and gestured for me to follow him while he started to walk that way, and I followed him. "I am sorry about that," he said and stuffed his hands into his pocket. He glanced at me from the corner of his eye before he looked forward. "I hope you can forgive me for not showing it to you sooner."

"It's fine," I said and shrugged with a small grimace on my face. "I don't have anywhere else to be. I am sure that your mom is making sure that my brother and daughter behave."

Blake laughed and nodded. "I am sure that she is." He cleared his throat and grew serious. "Are you getting child support?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he looked at me.

I bit back a tired sigh and pursed my lips in annoyance. "I am going to have to talk to my lawyer and see about everything that we should do now. I have said that he didn't have to give me child support if he wanted to give up full parental rights over her so that I could take her out of Washington. I did the same thing with my brother because he isn't the golden child either."

"So you have full custody of both?"

"Yes," I said and nodded in confirmation. "I have to give information to my lawyer about everything, so I need to email her about what I am doing, where I am residing, and whatever else she needs to know."

"Email?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and a look of amusement and nervousness flashed across his face while he studied me, and I nodded in confirmation. "What do you mean about emails? Why would you email her and not ca-"

"Oh, I will call her, too," I said, biting back a small laugh while I raised my hand to stop him from talking. "But I like to document everything in an email, too."

"Why?" he asked and cocked his head to the side while I studied him.

"CYA," I replied and shrugged, with a small grimace on my face.

"CYA?" he asked and looked at me from the corner of his eye before he looked forward. "What do you mean by that? I am sure that you don't mean cya as in see ya later, so what do you mean?"

"Cover Your Ass," I replied. "I like to cover my ass, and that is the best way I can cover my ass. I have also emailed my lawyer our conversations after we had them. She sometimes gets annoyed with them, but she likes me documenting everything because it makes it easier to point out inconsistencies or whatever."

"Do you like doing that?" Blake asked and laughed, and I nodded in confirmation. He cleared his throat and gestured toward the trough when we reached it. "Also, here is one of the troughs. There is another trough on the other side of the pasture."

I nodded and pressed my lips into a thin line. "And the hose?" I asked and cocked my head to the side while I looked at it before I looked at him.

"Follow me," he said and gestured for me to follow him, and I did what I was told to do and followed him when he started to walk to the hose. "The hose will not be able to reach both of them, so I will show you the other one after we are done with this one."

I nodded and breathed a small sigh of relief. "Thank you," I said before I cleared my throat and licked my lips. "I do appreciate all the help that you have been giving me and will be giving me in the future."

Blake nodded in confirmation. "Will you be giving me a glowing review to your lawyer?" he asked and flashed me a small smirk and a wink, and I bit back a small laugh and nodded. "What about Bryson?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "Are you going to give him a glowing review?"

I laughed and shrugged, biting back a small smile. "I don't know," I said before I cleared my throat and licked my lips. "I don't think he will like me talking about that, so I won't do that. However, I will let her know that I am going to be working for him."

Blake nodded without saying a word. He folded his arm across his chest and tapped his finger against his arm while he became lost in thought.

After a while, Blake stopped when he reached the hose and gestured toward it. "Here we are," he said and looked at me. "This is where you can get water for that trough. I will show you the other trough and hose for that one. There are also water hoses attached to the walls and are above the water buckets."

I breathed a small sigh of relief and nodded. "That's good," I said. I started to grab the hose and started to walk over to the trough. "Then let's go ahead and get the water done so that I can check on everything with my brother and daughter."

"And then nap?" Blake asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I turned to look at him, pausing to see that he was still standing by the hose. He smiled and tucked his head closer to his chest. "Anyway, I will help you by turning this on for you, which is why I haven't left."

I breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded in confirmation. "Thank you, Blake," I said. "I do appreciate your help and all the help that you have and will be giving me. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't "found" me on the side of the road."

"Of course," Blake said, and his smile seemed to grow sadder while he tucked his head closer to his chest. "I'm happy to help, Mags," he said. "And I'll help you as much as you want me to and will continue to help you until you do not need them at all. I promise."
