Reba gasped and covered her mouth.Narvel was speechless, Shelby just sat there staring at his phone screen trying to conceal his excitement. Having a little sister to protect wouldn't be as bad as he thought, but a brother would have been nice. "Congratulations! I'll set up your next appointment and you can leave." the doctor announced as he exited the room. "oh Narvel!" Reba cried with joy as she threw her arms around his neck. He hugged her back and Shelby just awkwardly He stood up to leave to give them some privacy "where ya goin Shelb?" Narvel asked seeing his son sneek past them. "Oh I was just gonna let you have some privacy." he replied."No it's okay! stay! Sorry for leaving ya out, your just so dang quiet."Reba said hugging her son.

In the car Shelby kept quiet and thought about his little sister.Maybe it won't be so bad? Plus I'm hardly home so why does this even concern me? Reba saw the concentration on his face "Shelby of you think any harder your face will get stuck like that." she joked. Shelby giggled, he was over thinking this.

At home Reba passed out in the couch while Narvel was upstairs in the office. Shelby sat in the recliner across from he couch staring at his mothers stomach. Hesitantly he got up, careful not to wake her, and kneeled beside the couch. He eased his hand onto her stomach and the baby kicked against his hand.Well that did it, he was in live with her.Reba stirred and put her hand on his, thinking it was Narvel since her eyes were still closed. She grinned tiredly and said "Narvel will you get me a blanket please?" "Uh-" as soon as she heard Shelby's voice she opened her eyes "What are you doing?" She asked totally shocked. "I was just -I - well-" he stuttered."You were embarrassed to show affection in front of your father and I weren't you?" she asked. He sighed knowing he couldn't lie to her. "Well, I was trying to put my mind at peace withy this whole thing. It worked." he admitted. Looking down he realized that his hand was still I. Her stomach so he took it off awkwardly.Reba laughed at her sons gesture and hugged him." Thank you for trying" she said. He hugged her back even tighter and replied "You're welcome, I'm actually excited now."

That night Shelby had gone out with some friends from high school so it was just Reba and Narvel. He crawled into bed with her and scooted down to her stomach. "I can wait til she's here." he said looking up at Reba while rubbing her stomach. Reba smiled down at him "Me either." she grimaced and added on "I'm gonna get huge." "I'll still think your the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." Narvel was such a sweet talker. He pulled her shirt up to reveal her rapidly growing baby bump. "Hey baby girl! It'll be a while before you get here, but your mom and I will be waiting for you! You'll have so many people that live you and your brother Shelby will protect you. We know he loves you, he just won't admit it." Reba giggles at the remark. "Well since your mom is listening I better watch what I say. "he laughed and Reba hit his shoulder. "I better go before I get into trouble!" he cooed and he planted a big kiss right about Reba's belly button. He pulled her shirt back down and crawled back up to beside Reba. She grabbed his face and pulled him into a passionate kiss. "What was that for?" he asked. "Still thinking I'm pretty." she replied." well on that case-" he rolled them over causing her so squeal, he spent the rest of the night showing her how beautiful she really was to him.
