43. My You
Jungkook woke up early the next morning because he wanted to cook breakfast for Rai after the events of last night. He managed to slip out of bed without waking her. He walked into the guest room to put on some jeans and a white t-shirt before going downstairs to begin cooking. He had the pad of paper from the guest room on the counter beside him near a pen as he worked. He was focused on cooking for the most part until a lyric would break through in his mind. When that happened, he would pause what he was doing to write it down; a hum on his lips as he did.
As he looked up from writing down the latest lyric, he heard a knock at the door. He put the pen down, walking over to the front door. He wondered if it was Jin or Ava, though they didn't seem to have a tendency to knock. Pausing at the peephole, his eyes widened in shock to see who stood on the doorstep.
"It's you," said Jungkook as he unlocked the door to stare into the face of his future self.
"It's me," he said as he awkwardly cleared his throat. "Sorry for stranding you in the future like that. I just...I had to see Seol."
"Well, you caused me to get a lecture and you caused your wife upstairs to cry in doing so."
"Cry?" asked the older Jungkook in shock. "How did I do that?""
"She remembered you from the past," said the younger as he sighed. "It's all complicated, but she's okay now. Just...you can't be hurting her anymore."
"That's why I'm here," said the older Jungkook. "Is she still asleep?"
"Yes," said the younger Jungkook. "I'm trying to cook her breakfast."
"You can't cook. I should know."
"That's exactly why I said 'trying' you jerk."
The older Jungkook chuckled softly as the younger cracked a soft smile, stepping aside so the older Jungkook could step inside.
"Jin taught me some over the years," said the older Jungkook as he walked into the kitchen to see what damage the younger version of himself might have done. "So I at least know more than you."
The younger watched as his older self moved with ease about the kitchen, beginning to make an omelet.
"So did you do what you needed to do in the past?" asked the younger Jungkook.
"I did," said the older Jungkook as his eyes remained on the omelet he was making. "Thank you and I'm sorry again."
"As long as you promise me we stay with Rai until we die," said the younger Jungkook, "Then there is nothing to be sorry about."
The older Jungkook smiled as his eyes faced the pan. He shifted a hand so that he could dig into his pocket, digging out the watch and putting it on the counter. The younger Jungkook's eyes went right to it.
"You need to go home to your Rai," said the older Jungkook. "I promise I'll take care of Rai here. I'll show her how loved she really is by me."
The younger Jungkook nodded as he stepped forward. He gently grabbed the watch before grabbing the pad of paper beside it. He crammed the pad of paper into his pocket, looking at the older version of himself. The two of them locked a knowing glance for a moment.
"She'll love it," said the older Jungkook with a small smile.
The younger Jungkook smiled back as he set the watch.
"Tell Rai goodbye for me."
"No need to," said the older Jungkook. "You're still technically here."
The younger Jungkook chuckled, nodding as he sent himself back to the past.

It was intermission time and Seol stood backstage with the other boys. They were all dripping with sweat from the heat of the auditorium and the lights. Rai and Ava stood off to the side watching as stage hands fluttered about them like moths to a flame; dabbing their skin to try to cool them off.
"You're doing amazing as a stand in, Seol," said Namjoon as he looked over at him with a small grin.
"Yeah dude! You and Jungkook need to have a dance battle sometime," said Jimin.
"A dance battle?" asked Taehyung with a small huff of laughter.
"Yes. Don't you think that would be amazing?" asked Jimin. "My money would be on Seol."
"Thanks a lot," said a voice that caused all of their heads to turn to look down the hall.
The younger Jungkook stood there in a white t-shirt and jeans still, smiling widely as he walked down the hall. Rai felt her heart skip a beat as their eyes locked. Jungkook immediately walked over to her, pulling her into a crushing hug. Her chuckles were muffled as she buried her face in his neck; hugging him tightly back.
"I love you..." he whispered in her ear. "So much."
"I love you too..." she whispered back.
"Again, get a room you two..." muttered Ava teasingly beside them.
Jungkook pulled back from the hug, chuckling as he looked over at Ava.
"I don't know what exactly is going on still," said Namjoon, "But I'm glad you're back."
Jungkook nodded as he looked at all of them; his eyes landing on Seol next. He moved to hug him; Seol hugging him back.
"I feel left out now," said Taehyung. "I want a hug."
"I'll give you a hug!" said Jimin instantly, jumping onto Taehyung's back.
"THIS IS NOT A HUG!" said Taehyung as he half staggered past the still hugging Jungkook and Seol; Jimin clinging to his back like a leech.
Jin rolled his eyes as he moved over to stand by Ava. He slipped his hand into hers, immediately lacing their fingers.
"Are you sure you're ready to be around this insanity all the time?" he asked Ava so softly that only she could hear.
"I'm sure," said Ava as she turned to look over at him. "Besides, aren't we all a little insane?"
A thin grin spread over his face as he turned his head so their eyes locked.
"I suppose we are."
The two of them were going to kiss then if not for the fact that Taehyung stumbled into them trying to get Jimin off his back.
"YOU NEED TO GET EDUCATED ABOUT A HUG! LET GO!"
Jin and Ava fell apart chuckling as Taehyung fell between them onto the floor with Jimin still firmly wrapped about his back. Jimin clung tightly to Taehyung, laughing his butt off.
Jungkook pulled away from hugging Seol, moving to grab a nearby mic as he looked over at Namjoon.
"Can I go on stage right now?" he asked. "There's a song I want to sing."
Namjoon stared at Jungkook for a moment before nodding his head. Jungkook turned to look at Rai, giving her a smile before running off onto the stage. The auditorium erupted when he came out, especially seeing him in casual clothes without any sort of makeup on. He brought the microphone to his lips as the crowd died down enough so he could be heard.
"I have a new song I want to sing for you all tonight," he started. "This song is dedicated to a very special woman; a woman that holds my heart now and always will. I wanted to show her how much she means to me. Finding the right words to say always seemed to fail me. Finding the right words to sing is a different matter."
His grin around the microphone then sent the entire crowd into a fit again. He cleared his throat as he began to sing; starting first in English which was her language before switching into Korean. Rai stood backstage, listening to it. Her heart went into overdrive as Jungkook sang on the stage. Jin and the others ushered her closer to the stage so she was able to stand in the wings as Jungkook sang. Tears stung her eyes as she listened to Jungkook. As the song neared its end, she watched as he turned to the wing where she was hiding in the shadows, holding out a hand towards her.
"Go," said Ava as Rai hesitated.
"Yeah, mom. Go to him," said Seol.
Rai looked at Jungkook's outstretched hand, feeling the butterflies swirl into a tornado in her stomach as she stepped out onto the stage. Jungkook's hand closed around hers the moment they touched; sending shots of electricity through her as their eyes locked. Jungkook sang the end of the song while keeping his eyes locked on hers. The crowd roared with applause when it was done. Even though it was loud, Rai didn't hear any of it. Instead she could only hear the words Jungkook said next.
"That song was called 'My You' for the love of my life; the one that completes my universe," said Jungkook. "You are mine, and I promise to love you forever."
Rai was stunned speechless then, especially more so when Jungkook moved to kiss her lovingly on stage despite the audience. She took a second before she closed her eyes and kissed him lovingly back; the two of them falling into a universe of their own.

AN: So I know "My You" was not written for this purpose. However, I have been stuck on how to start wrapping up this story for a while, and Jungkook just so happened to put out this song that sparked my imagination again. It seemed to fit this story, and I'm in love with it. Take a listen if you haven't yet!
