my characters have mental breakdowns instead of me for once

if you came here from my random book (which i'm about to link to this chapter) hey sit down stick around have some tea

Anyways I have a lot of work to do tonight/tomorrow/over the next twelve days seeing as I have finished NONE of the stories I set out to finish over this fine month of August-plus-the-first-four-days-of-September-er. This mess is more or less entirely my fault but I digress because potatoes. I spent the last hour watching CatCast and Explanation Point. If you don't watch any of the VidClan users (TenelleFlowers and LzrdWzrd being my favorite) OR Explanation Point I would recommend doing so. For better or worse a lot of my snappy dialogue and aptitude for metaphors, in real life and my stories, have come from watching online review and analysis videos.

Of course you probably came here for what I promised so here you go.

I love drawing Evan for the sake of drawing Evan. I swear. If you aren't reading Deja Vu you should just for him. I compare him to Gale a lot because (well for one thing they've both taken the 'favorite' slot for obnoxious amounts of time) they have some of the same fatal flaws- literally they are so clingy that I can not imagine either of them sustaining a relationship in real life, ever. That aside I'm always lowkey itching to meet them IRL whenever I write them.

And hug them.

Gale is a liiittle better about taking care of himself, though, whereas Evan is a mess by the time the missions really kick in. He was a mess beforehand. He hasn't brushed his hair in months.

(Also he's still recovering from both the people he had a crush on actually wanting to pursue a romantic relationship with him.)

ha ha whoops guess what i'm not doing right now

the amalgams are my most fleshed out aux characters and they're very angry that it's been two years and i haven't gotten to their dang book. i mean seriously at this point i'd consider them some of my best characters but i just. keep changing their whole plot. rip

Speaking of my crippling inability to start stories, have Bec. It's probably short for Beckett but no one actually knows because he never gets past that first syllable. Bec does NaNoWriMo. I have two stories for him. In one he does nanowrimo and is lowkey hitting on his fake main character and in another said main character basically descends from the heavens as he's about to quit and is like

"write me bec"

"write me or i'll shank you"

They're both canon. Alternate universe versions of the same kid I guess? It's not even an auspexism the timeline probably splits after he's born so it's just the same guy, just one of his stories is a very Chronaverse book and the other is just something me, the person irl, would write

I do this with the Amalgams all the time whenever I need to write some fancy short story bullcrap to appease people in real life who want to read my stuff I'm like "who's my most fleshed out character... fuckit I'll use Addie" and then I'll write some tangential vaguely realistic fiction drabble and slap it down because i'm good at life

This is Selena Azarola (currently, though i'm definitely sold on Selena). She descends from the heavens and tells Bec to write her story or she'll shank him. He probably blushes like an anime and debates the merits of being shanked by an attractive fictional character versus slowly dying of anxiety as high school drives him past the point of no return

She's a badass in her world but can't really do anything in his and can't really go back or anything so they eventually become friends but she totally thinks of him as a younger brother... and he's still like "a woman touched me on the shoulder"

She also gets him to wear something besides a sweater/turtleneck which I consider Quality Character Development

(That text on the far left reads "who the fuck are these losers" just because it's a lil' small/blurry)

On the left are Selena and Bec if you couldn't tell (ignore haaaands) but on the right are an unnamed protagonist and Abyss from Bad Break, another story about a creator and their terrible love interest OC. As you can tell they're all cohabitating really well and are just best friends already because everyone in the Chronaverse gets along like kerosene and an open flame.

The really sad thing about this image is that this is one of my "overlapping pairs". You guys don't hear about most of them because they die early in development but my brain is actually super lazy so I'll come up with at least five ideas that essentially have the same plot, theme, or character dynamics. In the past it's been time travel, dreams, then urban fantasies (I ended up writing all of those anyways? the characters won't leave), and now I'm on a hot streak with these two disasters but in the end I can't write five stories with the same goddamn point so all of the characters have to FIGHT TO THE DEATH to see who gets assimilated into the single unholy conglomerate. Then you guys get to read the conglomerate.

(Unless you're Amalgama which emerged perfectly from conception, like Athena springing from the mind of Zeus. Their setting has changed but the characters are literally the same people, no one has been axed, all their thematic elements are almost the exact same. I have no clue how I did it.)

anyways chrona is back
