Chapter 1: The Beginning
Third POV:
It was night time and a woman was running away from a guy with a sword in hand. The woman ran around the alleyway trying to lose the guy. Meanwhile, a boy landed on a rooftop and saw the scene. He had two swords on his back and had a hood on. He saw the man with the sword and then touched his earpiece.
"Target spotted," he said.
"Good job, now get ready to engage in combat," the man he was talking to said.
"Roger that sir," the boy said.
He stood up and drew out a sword. Back to the woman, she reached a dead end and looked at the man with the sword. He was standing in front of her and grinned menacingly. He slowly started walking to the woman trembling in fear and then he charged at her and was about to slash, but suddenly, a sword blocked it. This surprised the man and the woman. The boy then pushed his sword and forced the man to back away. The man stared at the person in front of him in anger and a little shocked.
"Who are you?" the woman asked.
"That isn't important ma'am," the boy said without making eye contact, "you see that door to your right, the door is unlocked so you can enter and run to the other exit. Trust me, it's safe."
"Alright, thank you (Hai, arigato)," the woman said and went to the door. She then opened it and entered the building.
"Why you, how dare you let my prey run away?!" the man said in a cold and angry tone.
"I won't let you take any more innocent lives," the boy spoke as he drew out his other sword.
"I'll kill you! You little brat!" the man shouted and charged at the boy.
The boy goes to a stance, prepared for the upcoming attack. The man rushes and jumps up a bit before bringing down their sword in an attempt to slash the boy, but the boy saw that coming as he uses the sword on his left hand to block. The boy prepares their second sword as an aura surrounds it before pushing back their other sword blocking the opponent's blade, sending them back. While the man was in mind air at the moment, the boy swung their sword with the aura making them fire a metallic blue sword beam at the man. However the enemy manages to block it by using their sword like a shield, only sending him far back and landing on their feet. They quickly recovered and faced the boy who was now charging at them. The man tries to prepare a block but the boy while running positions their left arm to their right side as the same metallic blue aura appears on the blade before swinging their sword to the left, firing a perfectly timed sword beam that parries the opponent's sword away, leaving him wide open. Without giving the man a chance to react, the boy lunges forth and quickly uses the sword he wields in his right hand to stab the man in the heart. The man coughed some blood before the sword was pulled out by the boy. The man falls to the ground before turning to black ashes. The boy swings his sword to the side, flinging off the excess blood, which soon turns to black ash as well, before putting his weapons back in their cases. He looks at where the man had laid, his expression hidden by the shadows of his bangs as well as the night.
"Well that was easy but.. It sure is a shame.." the boy said as their eyes seemingly softened a little before touching his earpiece again, "Mission accomplished, the target has been eliminated."
"Great job, now return to base before-" the man on the earpiece was about to finish when the boy heard sirens and footsteps coming.
The boy turned and police came out from the corner. They pointed their guns at him.
"Freeze, don't move," one of the officers said.
The boy smirked and brought out a smoke bomb, before quickly throwing it to the ground. It exploded and smoke covered the police's view. When it cleared, the boy was gone.
"We lost him again," one of the officers said.
After the boy escaped, he was viewing the police from the rooftop, still making sure no one saw him.
"Well, that was close," he said in his mind, "they sure don't know when to give up."
"It's getting kinda hot in this hood, good thing it's nighttime," he added in his thoughts as he grabbed his hood.
Upon removing it, he reveals what he looks like. He had chestnut brown hair and metallic blue eyes.
Name: Matsukaze Tenma
Codename: Zephyr
Tenma had removed his hood as he viewed the police, keeping watch for a bit while still being hidden. They were searching the area but left shortly after as they found nothing.
"I have to get going now, it would turn out badly if I stay out for too long and get spotted," Tenma said in his mind as he turned around putting his hood back on as he had cooled down a bit.
The brunet swiftly left the scene and parkoured his way back to the base, jumping on rooftops, dodging obstacles, and keeping himself hidden, while not making a single sound in the process. It was very dark, so the chances of someone being able to see him were low. As he parkoured, he observed his surroundings and made sure the coast was clear and quiet. After minutes of parkouring, he finally arrived back at the base. Upon entering he saw Otonashi-sensei (Advisor/trainer) and Kudou-sensei (Mastermind of the clan).
"Ah, Tenma-Kun, welcome back," Otonashi greeted the brunet with a smile.
"Hai, I'm back Otonashi-sensei," the mentioned brunet replied as he smiled back.
"I can tell the mission went well Matsukaze, great work," Kudou sensei said.
"Hai! Arigato Kudou sensei," Tenma replies before his eyes scan the surroundings, seeing no one else present except them.
"Where is everyone else?" Tenma asked.
"They're already in their rooms sleeping," Otonashi responds as she gives a soft smile, "you should also get some rest too Tenma-Kun, you just finished for the night after all."
"Hai, understood. Good night Otonashi-sensei, Kudou-sensei," Tenma replied as he smiled back before he started heading off as the two watched him leave.
"Good night Tenma-kun, sleep well," Otonashi wishes his goodnight as she gives a polite smile.
"Good night Matsukaze," Kudou said and when Tenma was out of sight, the two adults shared their good nights before parting ways, Otonashi headed off to her room while Kudou went to his office to finish some leftover work.
Meanwhile, Tenma arrived at the dorms before heading to his room. He puts his stuff away and places his clothes in the laundry before heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower and get ready for bed. Not long after, he finishes washing up and exits the bathroom, now wearing his pajamas.
"Phew, that should be it for the night shift, fortunately no casualties.." He spoke to himself before looking over at his desk with some papers on top and then at the clock as his mind looked back at earlier and a few other memories.
Without another word, he walks to it and turns on the desk light, takes a seat, before opening a drawer and taking out a notebook, it was his journal. He grabs a pen and opens the journal to a page with some writing, there were still some blank spaces below to fill in the rest. He sighed before he started writing down about his night shift, eventually completing the page. He closes the journal and stretches a bit.
"And that's finally completed, I'll make a copy on the laptop tomorrow along with the updates of late." He felt a little more eased up as he put his arms down. His eyes then caught a glance outside his window, which made him turn towards the window, viewing the night sky as the moonlight shone into his room.
"Even after writing, I don't feel that exhausted nor do I feel like sleeping at the moment... I need to clear my mind a bit." Tenma thought to himself, deciding to go to the roof and get some fresh air.
After putting on his indoor slippers/shoes he makes his way to the roof. He looked around to make sure no one is awake and he doesn't accidentally wake anyone up. When he arrived, the brunet sat on one of the benches and looked up at the stars above, taking in the sight and peaceful sounds of the night, he sat there in silence not realizing how much he'd been sitting there, his mind wanders off to some of his thoughts, recollecting some memories and somewhat comparing them to the present.
"Things had changed ever since I arrived at Inazuma and when I joined Raimon," Tenma muttered to himself as he softly smiled a little.
"I've made friends and had a good time with them for the past three months, despite how it was before and the events that had occurred.. Furthermore, I became an assassin of Raimon and worked with Kudou sensei alongside everyone else," Tenma said in his mind, but soon his smile faded as his eyes softened, "Many occurrences led to the present one after another, but even till now, I still wonder.. Have I made the right decision? Is, it alright for me to continue like this..?"
He closes his eyes and shook his head, trying to get the thought out of his mind, "No, I'm sure it's fine... It's thanks to them that I'm even here, besides, everything will work out somehow, right? That's what I've always believed in..."
He then opened his eyes and admired the starry night while relaxing on the bench, attempting to keep himself from thinking certain thoughts, till he heard a familiar voice call out from behind.
"I see you're still awake, Tenma."
He was immediately alerted and turns to the source of the voice. There he sees Aoi who gives him her usual smile.
"Eh! Aoi, I thought you were asleep?" I asked.
She smiled and responded, "I was getting something to eat and drink in the kitchen since I woke up earlier and couldn't go back to sleep, and ran into Otonashi-sensei on the way back. She said you just came back from the mission so I came to check on you. You weren't in your room, so I knew you would be here," She then added as she approached him while giving a bit of a straight face, "Anyway, you know you shouldn't stay up late, especially when you just got back."
Tenma sweatdropped a little at what she said but smiled still as he replied, "Yeah I know, sorry Aoi. I wasn't that tired, so I just went here to get some fresh air. I plan on heading back now since I've cleared my mind and have relaxed now."
Tenma got up from the bench as he faced her.
"If you say so, alright then. Let's go back to our rooms and sleep shall we? We still have training tomorrow, and who knows, we might get another mission," Aoi said with a smile.
"Right, let's head back then," I replied as I smiled back at her.
The two of them went to their rooms and said good night to each other. Tenma locks his door after entering and takes off his indoor slippers/shoes before heading over to his bed and lying down. He reminisces on the past once more on how he got to where he is now as he closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep, ready for the beginning of another day.
