CHAPTER 2
The woman easily handed over her clothing after I had threatened her life. She was terrified.
I grabbed her arm unexpectedly. 'Tell me where I am and what that place is.' I pointed to the massive building that I had just escaped from.
The dark curly locks on her head shook like a leaf as she trembled in fear once again. I was sure to leave bruises on her arm, not that I truly cared. I needed answers.
She staggered. 'That would be a museum, and you're in the city of Manhattan, New York.'
I smirked. 'Sweet. Thanks.'
I let her arm drop but an idea popped into my head. 'Actually, I think I'll keep you. You know for answers to all my questions and for directions and stuff? Good idea.'
The woman's eyes nearly popped out of her head with fear. She rapidly shook her head in response to my demanding statement. I wasn't going to take a no for an answer.
I forcefully swapped clothes with her so that I could fit into the human race. I was surprised to find that the clothing she had fitted me well. They felt weird to wear, but it was better than standing out in the crowd. The black "jeans" they called them, felt so move restricting. That white "T-shirt", stupid name, felt so exposing. The denim " jacket" was a good cover up for that though. I felt less exposed to the eyes of the humans.
I had walked to the other side of the red object, opening the door and climbing in. The woman stared at me and did the same action's on her side. When I was comfortable and sitting in the leather seat, I turned my head to the woman, my golden hair falling in my face.
I frowned while looking at the interior of the red object. 'So what do you humans call this thing?' I waved a hand in gesture to the black leather covered interior.
Looking back at the frightened woman she stared and replied. 'This, this is called a car.'
I raised my eyebrows. 'Really? Fascinating. And what does a car do exactly?'
The woman finally moved her eyes elsewhere, landing them upon the museum. 'Well a car takes people places to where they want to go.'
So basically a horse that can carry multiple people. Got it.
She frowned for a second. 'What the hell am I doing. You're a stranger who clearly has lost their mind and I'm literally talking to you like its a common okay thing to do.'
She placed a hand to her forehead and rested her head.
I tried my best to comfort her. 'Well if it makes everything better I don't mean to cause harm.' Lie's. 'And I don't want to cause you much trouble.' Yet I don't care about a word I just said. 'But from what I recall, which is nothing, I don't have a clue as to where I am and how I managed to get here. I don't even know my own name. I had to figure that out myself by looking at a description, a very bland description in that fact, of who I am. I found hardly anything out, yet here you are and I'm going to make the most of your wonderful presence. I'm going to ask you the favour of providing me with as much answers as you can. Yet stupid me expects you to actually help someone who has indeed lost all memory of everything they once would've had. Like I've been asleep for 11,976 years for crying out loud. I have no idea what is going on.' I pleaded, holding my hands to my chest to show compassion. 'So please would you be ever so kind as to help me?'
The woman looked back at me. She sighed and dropped her hand into her lap.
Looking out the window she spoke to herself. 'I can't believe I'm doing this.' She let out a long sigh. 'Fine I'll help you, but first I'll need to get myself a change of clothes since you stole mine.'
A smile crossed my face with delight at her words. With such happiness I reached over and gave her a hug in which she was not enthused about nor did she return it.
The woman turned something and the car seemed to wake up and roar, like a lion. I had no idea what had happened and I freaked out, leaning heavily against the leather seat.
The woman looked at me with confusion. 'You don't know anything do you?'
I nodded. 'No I don't, which is exactly why I'm getting you to help me.'
The woman nodded in understanding.
She frowned. 'So you basically want me to tell you absolutely everything like a child learning everything there is to learn?'
I nodded in reply, while finally relaxing into the seat as I got comfortable with the vibrations and roaring of the car.
The woman was kind enough to explain basically everything there was to explain. She described what was happening with the car and how it worked. She also handed me a phone, a crazy little device used to store images, information, conversations typed up, basically everything, in a hand held mechanism that amazed me. I couldn't believed my eyes when I had seen it. She showed me how to use it, after pulling over in a car park because it was apparently against the law which I had learned were rules to keep the humans safe.
I got into the gist of most things with the car and the phone. I definitely had a lot to learn, but it was great knowing I started somewhere rather than not at all. The woman was very lovely to teach me. We bonded quite well through this.
When she was driving along the more central part of New York, she fell silent to concentrate more, avoiding any possible crashes that may occur. She called herself an inexperienced driver compared to most since she wasn't the best in cities.
That gave me a moment to observe this lady. Her hair was gorgeous. Dark frizzed curls bounced when she moved her head. Her gorgeous dark skin was like chocolate. Her eyes, oh how her eyes were amazing. They were a lovely dark brown that seemed to glimmer with confidence and beauty. I suddenly felt guilty for frightening this woman. She was beautiful and harmless looking. I hoped we could be friends because she seemed like an amazing person.
She had caught me staring and I slightly blushed from embarrassment.
She smiled with her lovely lips. 'Is there something on my face or are you just having a stare to understand what a human looks like compared to you?'
I chuckled. 'In fact neither. I was encapsulated by your beauty with which I found too amazing to not observe.'
The woman giggled and smiled brightly, her teeth shinning in the morning light.
I thought I could feel her heart melt in that moment she spoke again. 'Thank you. It's not many who recognises such beauty in others so easily. You yourself would be classified as a rather gorgeous human.'
My smile dropped and I stared out the window, watching cars zoom by and noting their colours.
I felt guilt for some reason, but I replied to the woman. 'I know, but it has been claimed that I'm not human. According to that description in the museum I'm alien. Which I gathered literally means I'm foreign to your world.'
The woman remained silent for a moment, before replying. 'I figured you were from the museum. You did look out of place from us humans. It doesn't change much though.'
We had pulled off the highway and into a parking area, the blackness covered in magnetising white lines. It was apparently a shopping mall, whatever that meant.
The woman decided to leave me to sit in the car while she went inside and bought herself some clothing and possibly other things. I would learn more things when she came back, but I was left to do nothing. I felt unoccupied. I needed to do something so I opened the car door and stepped out, my golden heels clopping as it met the black surface.
I stood up from the car, searching my surroundings for nothing in particular.
It was bustling with people. They entered and exited the doors of that towering shopping mall of a building, much like ants rushing around before the rain hit their homes. The sky was clear blue, clouds were absent. So I was puzzled as to what these people were doing. Some had walked out with bags of things, some with carts filled of bags.
I was so confused, yet I wasn't sure if I wanted to go into that place and discover more confusing human behaviours. I decided to sink back into the car and observe from there.
As I shut the door and became comfortable I gazed at the people who walked past. Some people had black circles covering their eyes. Were they blind? It didn't seem like that though because they walked perfectly fine with absolutely no show of being blind whatsoever.
I noted to ask questions about that to the woman when she came back.
A few male humans met eyes with me, staring a little longer than needed, although females did that too. My response of staring back at them wouldn't have helped that's for sure.
To be less bored I decided to watch other cars as well and after a while of staring at people and watching cars park, the gorgeous dark woman returned, in a new outfit. She had a simple yellow dress on which matched incredibly well with her lovely dark shining skin.
She practically jumped into the car and threw the bags of things into the back seats.
I opened my mouth to question, but closed it when I instantly realised a frown cross the woman's face.
She seemed agitated.
I shrugged and questioned anyway. 'What are those black things that you humans wear on yours eyes? Are they for blind people?'
The woman looked over to me and replied, irritation filling her voice. 'They would be sunglass. They shade the sun from our eyes so we are able to see more visually when we drive or walk.'
I nodded in understanding and decided to ask a question that only just occurred to me. 'What is your name by the way? We never introduced ourselves.'
The woman was doing something with a rectangular box that she had, unravelling it perhaps. A picture of a phone was plastered on the top, which I assumed contained a phone on the inside.
She continued with her hands and looked down as she did, but replied. 'The name's Shelly. I'm 23 years old, if you wanted to know.'
I smiled. 'That sounds like a lovely name. Mines Rosalie, apparently. Obviously I'm way more than 11,976 years old but my own age is unknown. That's how long I slept apparently. Although strangely I remember being 950 years old.'
Shelly pursed her lips and she examined me. 'You're one fine looking woman to be that age. Obviously sleeping beauty really is a true story. She really did get her beauty sleep. Were you woken by a Prince kissing you?'
I raised an eyebrow. 'Sorry who now and why would I wake up from a Prince kissing me?'
Shelly chucked and smiled. 'Oh how you have missed out. You have much to learn woman and you have only just begun the very few things of being a human.'
My eyes lit up with joy. 'So you're going to teach me things and help me become like you? You're actually going to help me out?'
Shelly smiled her shiny pearly whites. 'Hell yeah. For some wonderful woman like you, even though you're a museum collection and it's been claimed that you're old as all heck and are alien, I will. Expect one thing.' She held up the unravelled phone in her hand. 'This will do most of it for you.'
My smile suddenly dropped and my head hung. 'I'd prefer not to be labelled alien. I'd much rather be labelled as not human.' I looked over at Shelly and she sympathetically nodded in response.
After about fifteen minutes of setting the phone up and explaining what was going on at the same time, Shelly managed to get me to understand how to use it. I understood google was like a library of information with thousands of books and things, only all in my hand. I had found that quite astonishing. Of course I went straight to it and after navigating the use of it I searched something I was questioning Shelly. 'What is sleeping beauty?'
The results were incredible. Basically a children's story about a princess who, well you yourself are human and you should understand or at least know that story. If you don't, well I seriously encourage and recommend you to google it. It's an amazing invention.
Within seconds google became my best friend. It provided me with all the information I needed to know, of course anything that was happening around me in my surroundings I'd question Shelly because it was simpler that way. I really did begin to learn a lot and I quickly became well educated with thanks to google.
