Phils POV

In order to be ready for tomorrow's party Dan and I decided to go shopping. By "Dan and I" I literally mean I had to persuade Dan to come. He's been in a glum mood ever since he met Jade and I didn't think it would go away for a while. Even though he was smiling now I could see the pain in his eyes. They say you can tell a lot about a person by looking into someone's eyes and Dans appear so kind but at the same time plagued with pain. I wonder what he sees when he looks into my eyes?

"How do I look?" Dan asked as he came out of the changing room to show off his black suit (minus the blazer so basically just a white shirt and proper trousers from top man) and finished off with a red tie
"Like 2005 era my chem" I cheered
"So pretty damn good?" I nodded but in my head I couldn't help but think about tonight and how it would pan out. Was it really worth Dan spending money on new clothes considering what I was going to do? Would it be a waste?
"Now hurry up Dan. I have one more thing I need to get" I said and his smile faltered a bit as he walked back into the changing room and drew the curtains shut. I was buying my clothes from top man too but had already tried them on, Dan seemed to be taking a long time to do pretty much anything today; including getting changed.
"What do you need to get?" Dan questioned from behind the curtain
"Just a drink I know Jade likes" I told him. I mean I couldn't go to a party empty handed and I saw the wine she liked on sale in a shop earlier.

It's new years eve! Tonight was the night, I had already planned everything I was going to do and say. Dan had shrugged on his outfit but honestly he looked down and put little effort into making himself look decent - although somehow he still looked hot as.
"Dan come here" I called him over, he came close to me and I began to sort his tie out that was dangling losely around his neck "honestly you're a child"
"Thanks mum" he said sarcastically and rolled his eyes, but his dimple was showing as he smiled slightly.
"Are you okay going?"I asked as I pushed the tie into place
"Yeah..." he said unconvincingly "it'll be fun"
"It will" I replied simply "now come on" I grabbed the drink for jade and ushered Dan out the door before he somehow convinced me to let him stay home.

"Hey Phil!" Jade cheered as I walked through the door, she pulled me into a quick hug but I felt her tense up and push me back soon after "Dan, glad you could make it" she said and smiled, I could tell it was a fake one.
"Wouldn't miss it" he replied and gave a half smile.
"Babe I need to show you something" Jade told me and linked our arms together and pulled me away from Dan. When we were at a good distance away she hissed in my ear "What the hell is he doing here?"
"He insisted" I lied "don't worry. I doubt he'll be here for much longer" that one wasn't a lie
"He better not be. I can't introduce you to more people with him hanging around" she sighed and raised an eyebrow at me
"yeah...Hey I have a present and I want to tell you something" it was now or never.
"Oh?" She questioned, cheering up
"But I want everyone to hear" I pointed over at the stage she had installed that held a DJ
"Are you crazy?" She laughed
"Trust me, this will be unforgettable" I held her hands and looked into her eyes, she nodded and so I went up to the stage and told the DJ if he could stop for a bit, he complied; looking bored already
"Hello everyone." I announced so that everyone would look my way "I would like to call a very special girl called Jade up onto the stage." Jade came up, looking shy and timid but I could tell she was in her element. I looked into the crowd and spotted Dan staring up at us
"Jade. Dont worry im not proposing" I started, making a few people chuckle "I just want you to know that when we first met, we clicked instantly like two angles meeting" I began to open the bottle of wine I had bought and Jades eyes widened, a smile spread across her face "you were always a saint, a beautiful white angle just for me..." I stepped forward so I was so close I could smell her perfume "but did you know that lucifer was once an angel?" Her smile faded and she looked around like she had no idea what I was talking about. The crowd gasped as I poured the alcohol all over her head, she screamed. Her hair was dripped wet, her mascara running down her face "try and make me choice between you and my best friend, Dan will win every time" I stated firmly
"Are you breaking up with me? At me own party?" She asked, shivering
"That's exactly what's happening" I told her and made my way off the stage, everyone looked shocked but as I left I heard cheering, people clapping and laughing.

"What was that about?" Dan questioned as we walked up the street
"she wanted us to not be friends." I said after a moment "She didn't even want you at that party"
"You chose me over her?" He looked happy but mostly surprised, how could he not know how much he means to me?
"Of course Dan" I told him like it was the most obvious thing in the world, I looked at him and smiled "just remember that next time the mail man knocks on the door at 8am"
"Damn I knew there'd be a catch" he chuckled
"Now come on, let's go home, order a pizza and welcome the new years in" I cheered and jumped in excitement
"that sounds so much better than a party"
"Danny. It's always a party when I'm there" I winked.

"I feel so much better starting the new year without her" I told Dan, empty pizzas boxes were piled high on the table and the TV was put onto the BBC channel so we could watch the countdown to midnight.
"I thought you loved her" Dan asked and I didn't even reply, I just arched an eyebrow at him and that was all I needed to say "then why go out with her?"
"Because I thought I could love her" I shook my head at how stupid I was, you cant date someone when youre in love with someone else "I was wrong. As soon as she hated you I knew I'd made the wrong choice"
Dan looked lost in thought, I glanced at the clock quickly "I need to tell you something before midnight"
"Better be quick. We have just over a minute" Dan replied
"Okay where to start." I racked my brain trying to come up with what to say first, there was so much I needed to say "The other night why did you kiss me on the head?"
"I thought you were asleep?" Dans eyes widened
"No."
"I'm sorry I-" he stuttered
"Don't be. I sort of know why... I also heard what you said when Jade left. I came home and heard you mumbling"
10,9 the TV chanted as the countdown started
"I guess I wanted to say that I love you too Dan, I always have"

"but you're my mess" as the countdown reached one I leaned in and kissed Dan, it took him a few seconds before he kissed back but when he did it was the most magical expirence ever but like all good things it had to eventually come to an end.
