Here is how my first EVER acrylic portrait turned out. It took me 2 days- 1 for face and 1 for background, border and hair. It is of Stefan Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries.

This is just for comparison. I draw based off the image on my laptop and zoom in, etc. for extra details and shading. I hadn't quite finished the border in this one.
