"So, what's your new year's resolution gonna be?"

"Pff, nothing."

"You've got to have something, Nighty."

"I really don't."

The black and white Antarctic dressed oreo whined, shifting on his lover's lap to look up at him disappointedly. "But we're all doing something!"

"Wow. I'm amazed." The tall, dark slime covered skeleton looked down at the smol, his one blue eye looking down at him in amusement. "Why does that affect anything?"

"So if we're all doing it, then you have to too!"

"Uh, not really." He snorted, idly petting the top of the frustrated smol's skull. "Besides, what would I even do for a New Years resolution? They're pointless. The whole point of them is for people to make promises they know they can't keep, and feel bad when they fail."

Cross blinked rapidly, processing what he'd just said. "Y-You-–"

Nightmare smirked, cupping the smaller's lightly flushed face with a hand. "I what?"

The smol groaned loudly, face planting into Nightmare's chest. "Y'know, just cuz you're the embodiment of depression and negativity etc, doesn't mean you have to be depressing and negative etc..."

He raised an 'eyebrow', humming as he rubbed lazy circles on Cross' back. "Uh, I kind of do have to be. It wouldn't really make sense otherwise."

"Whatever..."

The taller sighed softly, resting his chin on his lover's head as he glanced around their bedroom. "How long do you think we have until the kids come bursting in to jump up and down on our chests?"

Cross didn't verbally answer, simply raising a hand up in front of Nightmare's face. Five. His thumb went down. Four.

Nightmare blinked rapidly, looking up at the door, which was currently closed.

As Cross went down to two fingers, the door handle twisted, a soft click ringing out. As he went down to one finger, the door started swinging open. And as the last finger went down, it was flung open, the kids tumbling in after.

"ITS NEARLY NEW YEAR!" They cheered, seeming a lot more childish and energetic than usual.

Cross pushed his face away from Nightmare's chest, yawning softly as he looked back at their five kids. "Mm... How much longer till I can go to sleep?"

Incubux -the eldest child- looked over at the bedside clock by Cross' side, grinning. "A whole three minutes."

"Oh yay..." The smol mumbled, shifting in Nightmare's lap so that he was now facing the kids, his back being pressed against Nightmare's chest.

The taller wrapped his arms around Cross' waist, smirking as he nuzzled his face into the crook of his smol's neck. "Tired, precious?"

Cross' cheeks visibly heated up, and he nodded softly, closing his eyes. "Mmhm..."

"Cutie~"

"Alright, that's enough flirting. We've got like, two more minutes." NiXss said, hopping up onto the bed by his parents sides.

Nightmare went frisk faced, pulling his face away from Cross' shoulder. "Wow. We raised you to know how to ruin a moment, didn't we?"

"Yup." Incubux sat down as well, humming as he lifted their youngest child, Eph, onto his lap.

Noah and Moonlight sprang up onto the bed as well, giggling away as they hugged their two parents.

"One more minute..." Noah whispered, looking wide eyed up at Cross, his arms outstretched towards him.

Cross sighed softly, picking the smol up and hugging him to his chest as he sunk back into his husband's embrace. "Let's hope 2019 is a good year..."

Nightmare snorted, rolling his cyan eye. "It'll probably be shit."

"Don't swear in front of the kids!" The smol hissed, covering Noah's non-existent ears.

"Whoops."

Incubux rolled his eyes, constantly glancing at the clock. "Cross the majority of the swears we know are thanks to overhearing your screaming."

Both parents blinked rapidly, Cross' face steadily flushing dark purple while Nightmare grinned widely.

"I-I-–" Cross stuttered, his entire face having gone violet.

Incubux smirked widely in triumph before clapping his hands together loudly. "Five! Four!"

"Three!" Moonlight, NiXss and Noah joined in, watching the second hand on the clock. "Two!"

"ONE!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" They threw their parent's pillows up in the air, giggling gleefully as they fell back down on top of them.

Nightmare hummed, petting the top of his flustered smol's head in amusement as he watched the kids. "So it was you that taught them bad words, hm~?"

"Sh-Shut up!" Cross squeaked, shoving him.

Now either Cross was stronger than what he thought he was, Nightmare was playing along, or if he was just off balance, but the tentacled skeleton let out a yelp, toppling off of the bed and falling to the floor with a thump.

"Fuck!" He yelled, clutching his hand that he'd managed to land on awkwardly.

"Shit Nightmare are you okay?!" Cross asked, looking over the edge of the bed in a panic.

The taller groaned softly before growling, wrapping a tentacle around the smol's wrist before pulling him off of the bed and down on top of him.

Cross yelped, falling on top of him with a loud squeak. "N-Nighty?"

Nightmare smirked, wrapping around his waist as he got himself comfy on the floor. "That wasn't very nice, was it now Cro-–"

"Fuck!"

The two froze upon hearing that, slowly turning to look at Noah, who was sat down on the bed, a frown on his face.

"Ffffuck." He said, giggling afterwards. "Fuck!"

"O-Oh god-–" Cross watched in horror, shaking his head as Moonlight took a deep breath.

"...Shit-–"

The two froze, completely silent for a moment before Nightmare spoke up. "I think we can both agree that was both of our faults-–"

"I'm gonna kill you!" Cross screeched, attempting to attack him while Nightmare held him back with his tentacles.

"C-Cross calm down!"

"Calm?! How can I be calm in this situation?!"

"Just relax???"

Cross struggled weakly for another minute before going limp in defeat. "Alright... M-Maybe they'll forget it in a few minutes..."

"Maybe. Hopefully."

"Fuck!"

"We're such shit parents-–"

"I'm aware Nightmare. I'm aware."
