Meant to update sooner but I got distracted reading so many good stories on wattpad! Don't judge me(;

At the cafeteria, Caroline and Rebekah are cleaning up the mess from the dance.

"So how are you doing?"

"Do you mean about me getting possessed by my wretched mother or me missing another dance?"

"I'm sorry... I know you liked hated her and everything but still... I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry about your teacher. He seemed like a nice guy."

"By the way, have you seen my sister?"

"No... When was the last time you saw her?"

"Last night. I went to bed while she was talking to Kol. I got a text from her earlier, saying she was heading to school early for the cleanup."

"Let me check the gym."

Rebekah walks out into the hallway and stops when Alaric appears before her.

"You're suppose to be dead."

"I am."

Before Rebekah can attack, Alaric pins her against the lockers. He takes out a white oak stake...

"How did-"

"You and Klaus have become closer lately. Thanks to Ariel, right? Now see while your mother was in possession of your body, Klaus shouldn't have shown her or you this. Esther told me that Klaus kept it if you or him ever wanted to end it all... Maybe now is the perfect time and you have the honor of going first."

Before Alaric can stab her, Caroline throws him against the lockers as Rebekah grabs the stake and stabs him with it. Instead of being engulfed by flames, he pulls the stake out of his chest.

"Why don't you look at that?"

"Oh my god..."

"Rebekah, we need to go!"

Rebekah vamp speeds away and before Caroline can do the same...

"Sure you don't want to stay, Caroline? If you left it would be very unfortunate for Ariel."

"...That text was from you wasn't it? Where's my sister?!"

"You'll see her in a bit."

Alaric vamp speeds to Caroline and snaps her neck.

Flashback

During the night, Ariel and Kol are sitting on top of the Mystic Falls clock tower. She is hiding whatever she is drawing from him.

"I like here, thanks for bringing me up here."

"I thought that you would."

"Hey, do you feel if I became a vampire would it improve or worsen me as a person?"

"It works differently for everyone... Why do you ask?"

"Well when my sister became one, it bettered her as a person. Don't get me wrong, I still loved my sister even when she was human but she was so insecure and always had her flaws. Mostly because of Elena. Care Bear became more mature and stronger because of vampirism."

"But your sister has better self-control than all my family combined which is impressive. Almost a year old vampire beats five vampires who are a thousand years old... But are you asking because you're thinking about becoming one yourself?"

"There are times when I did think about it. When I didn't want Caroline to be alone after me and mom would be gone. I even thought about it from the time I spent with you."

"I don't want you to become like me. Ever since meeting you, I've regretted a lot of my past actions. The monster that I am doesn't deserve someone like you."

"Fine. What is the most noble thing you did as a vampire?"

"Darling-"

"Tell me."

"...I told Katerina about the sacrifice and how she would be killed by my brother if she continued to stay there."

Ariel is stunned by the reveal and Kol sighs.

"I never told anyone and Katerina hadn't either. Niklaus never knew."

"...Why?"

"...Because of my first love. It was her who made me save Katerina from her fate."

"...Kol-"

"No more talking about that or becoming a vampire. Besides you're a witch, remember?"

"Yeah but my powers are sealed. They might not ever awaken."

" We will unlock your powers and find your family."

"Kol..."

"Are you going to show me your masterpiece?"

Ariel is quiet for a moment and goes back to sketching.

"Almost done... And there!"

The drawing reveals to be of  the two of them. Them sitting across from one another in the booth and are gazing at one another.

"Isn't this from our first date? You even drew the burgers! You draw as well as Niklaus, maybe even better."

"Don't tell him that."

"My lips are sealed."

"Do you like it?"

"No... I love it."

Ariel has such the biggest smile on her face which soon stops when Kol kisses her cheek, causing her to blush.

"You're beautiful."

"Stop it!"

He kisses her other cheek which causes her face to become completely beet red.

"You're amazing."

"Kol!"

He leans in, about to kiss her...

"Mini Elijah."

Kol sighs and backs away. "You love to ruin the moment, don't you?"

"That's what you get for teasing me!"

Ariel gets up and heads towards the stairs when she is suddenly in Kol's arms.

"What are you doing?!"

"Taking a shortcut."

Carrying her bridal style, Kol walks to the edge and jumps.

"Kol, wait-"

End of Flashback

Ariel wakes up, finding herself lying on the floor in Alaric's classroom. She hears someone moaning in pain and looks around to see Caroline sitting in a desk, pencils staked down in her hands and a cloth dipped with vervain in her mouth.

"Caroline!" Quickly rushing to her sister and removing the cloth. "What happened?"

"It was Ric! You can't stay here, you have to go!"

Ariel remembers the moment when Esther appeared to give her one last message and Alaric knocking her out.

"Caroline, I'm not leaving you!"

Ariel begins to pull out one of the pencils only for it to be slammed back into Caroline's hand. Caroline screams and Ariel turns around to see Alaric next to her.

"Ric..."

"Let's have a chat."

Meanwhile at the Mikaelson Mansion...

"Nik! Kol!"

"Sister, why are you shouting? And Kol isn't here."

"Alaric Saltzman just tried to kill me!"

"...He's supposed to be dead."

"Well, he's not and he's a vampire thanks to mother's spell with a white oak stake that can't kill him! He's stronger than us now!"

"Where is he?"

"Stuck at the school without a daylight ring. But there's a bigger problem... He has Caroline."

"WHAT?!"

"And as I was getting away, I heard him say he has Ariel too..."

Klaus quickly takes out his phone and begins to call Kol. "Do you have your phone?"

"Why?"

"There's a few people you need to call."

Back at Mystic Falls High School...

"Why are you doing this?"

"To teach you another lesson. Why did I teach you to kill vampires?"

"...To defend myself."

"Correct! Now..." Alaric pulls out the white oak stake from his coat and holds it out towards Ariel. "Kill her."

"Where did that-"

"That's right. Neither of you knew. Caroline, it seems your boyfriend held onto this one for safe keeping. For the day he want to end it all."

The sisters are stunned by this information and Alaric takes Ariel's hand, placing the stake in it.

"No."

"Why not? She's a vampire."

"I just don't go around killing vampires, Ric!"

"Then why did you spend all that time training for? I've seen how strong you've become and you could become a hunter, Ariel. All you have to do is the one thing you have yet to do. Kill a vampire."

"She's my sister!"

"Not your real sister! She's a murderer or did you forget that? She told me she killed someone and she liked it. Now how is that right? She's a monster!"

"You wrong... Not all monsters do monstrous things."

"If you don't side with the humans, you're just as bad as them!" Alaric turns her to face Caroline. "Now do it! Kill her! Or I'll do it for you."

Ariel grips the stake tightly as Alaric pulls away from her. She looks at the stake for a moment then back up to her sister. Giving her a small smile through unshed tears in her eyes... "I love you." She turns around attempting to stake Alaric but he grabs her wrist before she can.

"I thought I taught you better than that."

"You did."

Ariel breaks the beaker tube filled with vervain over his head. He screams in pain as his flesh burns. She removes the pencils from Caroline's hands and pushes her out the classroom. "GO!"

The sisters run into the hallway and Caroline quickly realizes that Ariel is not with her. "ARIEL?!"

Attempting to go back, she is suddenly grabbed by Klaus. He is covering her mouth to prevent her from screaming. "Shh. It's okay, it's okay. It's me. You're safe." He removes his hand and turns her around to face him. "We'll save Ariel. You go straight home and stay inside, do you understand?"

"Klaus... Why did you hold onto another stake?"

"What are you talking about? I got rid-"

"Don't lie to me, Alaric has one and it's the same one that holding onto!"

"Love, I'm sorry but we have to talk about that later. You need to go."

"...Save my sister, please."

Klaus vamp speeds away and finds just what he was looking for. Alaric has Ariel pinned to the lockers while he has his hand wrapped around her throat.

"GET AWAY FROM HER!"

Klaus vamp speeds towards Alaric, pushing him away from Ariel and catches her in his arms before she can hit the floor.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. What are you doing here? It's not safe!"

"Did you honestly think I would leave you behind?"

Alaric gets up, still holding the stake and stalks towards the two. "Hate to interrupt your precious moment but... Time for you to die."

"I don't think so."

Kol and Damon suddenly appear and grab his arms. Damon knocks the white oak stake out of Alaric's hand. "Do it now!"

During the struggle, Alaric throws Kol against the lockers and snaps Damon's neck. Klaus rushes towards him and makes contact with Alaric's heart. It doesn't last long as Alaric begins to pull Klaus' hand out of his chest as Kol goes for the stake and stabs Alaric in his back with it. Alaric screams then snaps Klaus' neck. Ariel rushes to Klaus' aid as Kol is pinned to the lockers. "You know what, Ariel? I think I'll kill your boyfriend first."

"Ric, don't do this!"

"Say goodbye."

As the stake is about to make contact with Kol's heart, Ariel lets out an ear-splitting scream which releases a wave of energy from her that throws Alaric away from Kol and causes him to desiccate... Kol and Ariel are stunned by what just happened. 

"Wh-what... Wha...?

"Darling..." He slowly makes his way over to her and holds her in his arms. "You're fine... You're safe... I'm okay. Everything's alright."

Back at the Forbes' home, Ariel and Kol are in her room, lying on her bed as he rubs her back soothingly. They can hear Klaus and Caroline arguing downstairs.

"How much longer do you think they're going to keep screaming at each other? Pretty sure the whole neighborhood can hear them."

"Darling, I'll think it will end once your sister wins the fight."

"Well, Klaus brought that upon himself. I mean I can understand it from his point of view but he shouldn't have had kept it a secret from Care. I'm surprised he didn't tell you."

"I'm not. It's more because he knows I would never want to end it. Finn would definitely would. Not sure about Elijah. But there were times that Niklaus and Rebekah have wanted to end it all. Especially Rebekah since she desires to have a human life again...more than anyone."

"Kol."

"Hmm?"

"...You're not a monster. Saving Katherine in the past and me today proves that."

"...You truly are an extraordinary woman."

When Kol falls asleep, Ariel checks her missed messages and texts on her phone. Seeing one Klaus sent her last night, it reads, "No burgers for a week, that's the deal. You're welcome👍"

Ariel smiles and replies back, "You're the best!🤗"

Ariel's powers are starting to be released and we'll go more into that more next chapter! Suprised by Ric being desiccated instead of Nicky? And Kol warned Katherine in the past about the curse/sacrifice? Just realizing it will be the finale for Act 1, get ready! And have tissues, you're going to need them!
