In My Time of Dying

The doctor comes into the room to give Dean a once over.

"I can't explain it. The edema's vanished. The internal contusions are healed. Your vitals are good. You have some kind of angel watching over you," he tells Dean.

"Thanks, doc," Dean tells him.

"Is it safe to hug him doc," I ask.

"I don't see why not," he tells me with a chuckle while walking out the room. I hop up as best as I can and sit on the bed and warp both arms around my oldest brother.

"So, you said a Reaper was after me," Dean questions us.

"Yeah," Sam tells him

"How'd I ditch it," he questions.

"You got us. Dean, you really don't remember anything," I ask him.

"No. Except this pit in my stomach. Guys, something's wrong," he tells us.

A knock at the door; Dad hovers in the doorway.

"How you feeling, dude," dad questions Dean.

"Fine, I guess. I'm alive," Dean tells him.

"That's what matters," Dad tells him with a smile.

"Where were you last night," Sam questions anger in his voice.

"I had some things to take care of," dad tells him

"Well, that's specific," he responds back with snark.

"Come on, Sam," I state trying to keep the mood a happy one.

"Did you go after the demon," Sam asks ignoring me.

"No," dad responds back.

"You know, why don't I believe you right now," Sam snaps back.

"Can we not fight? You know, half the time we're fighting, I don't know what we're fighting about. We're just butting heads. Sammy, I, I've made some mistakes. But I've always done the best I could. I just don't want to fight anymore, okay," Dad states pleading with him.

"Dad, are you all right," I ask.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm just a little tired. Hey, son, would you, uh, would you mind getting me a cup of caffeine? Can you take Ariel with you, she seems to make the best cup of coffee no matter where we are," dad requests?

"Yeah. Yeah, sure. Come on Ariel let's get you back into the wheelchair and go get some coffee for dad, and some hot cocoa for you," he tells me helping me up and getting me into the wheelchair. We leave the room.

~John's Point of View~

Sam and Ariel leave, I look at them enjoying the last time I will get to ever see two of the joys of my life.

"What is it," Dean questions.

"You know, when you were a kid, I'd come home from a hunt, and after what I'd seen, I'd be, I'd be wrecked. And you, you'd come up to me and you, you'd put your hand on my shoulder and you'd look me in the eye and you'd... You'd say "It's okay, Dad," I pause, "Dean, I'm sorry".

"What," he questions.

"You shouldn't have had to say that to me, I should have been saying that to you. You know, I put, I put too much on your shoulders, I made you grow up too fast. You took care of the twins, you took care of me. You did that, and you didn't complain, not once. I just want you to know that I am so proud of you," I tell him letting it all out knowing our last moments should be about this.

"This really you talking," Dean asks with confusion.

"Yeah. Yeah, it's really me," I tell him.

"Why are you saying this stuff," he asks me.

I walk closer, place my good hand on Dean's shoulder.

"I want you to watch out for Sammy and Ary, okay," I tell him.

"Yeah, dad, you know I will. You're scaring me," he tells me

"Don't be scared, Dean," I tell him. I lean over and whisper why he needs to protect the twins I tell him about what had happened that night in the bed room. I pull back and look at Dean pulls back in shock, processing. I leave.

I enter my old room., and I place the colt on a small bed table.

"Okay," I state out loud.

~Ariel's Point of view~

Sam walks us back into Dean's room. Dad isn't in there, so we go to dad's room. I had already drunk my small hot cocoa and was holding dad's cup. We investigate the room and sees Dad on the floor.

"Dad," I question out loud as I see him first. I drop the cup and start screaming for help. Sam runs to Dad's side, kneeling over him and begins to scream for help as well. Doctors and nurses come running in. One nurse wheels me out of the room, while another assists Sam to of the room. Dean comes running over to us as we stare into the room from the doorway. Every so often trying to get into the room to see how our dad was doing. Dean fights the hardest as I'm in a chair and Sam is keeping me seated.

"No, no, no, it's our dad. It's our dad," Dean states pleading with the nurse, "Come on".

"Okay, stop compressions," the doctor states.

"Come on, come on," Dean continues to try to break into the room.

"Still no pulse," one nurse states.

"Okay, that's it everybody," the doctor states. Suddenly the world around me seems to fade away. All I can hear is a voice.

"I'll call it. Time of death: 10:41 am,"
