Market Day

"Cassie!! Wake up!" whispered Jada furiously.

"mmmmh?" I mumble not fully awake yet.

"You have to get up for bunk inspection," she said curtly.
That got me awake, last time I slept in on inspection day there were horrible repercussions. It was about three years back, and having the horrible luck that I do. It was the day before Market Day; my favorite day of the year. So knowing that I loved it so much she decided to punish me by not letting me go to the market along with my friends. Ms. Woodrow was and still is a nasty, old, bitter woman. Why she ran the foster care I have never really been able to find out.

Anyways, I can't let her have a reason to punish me this year. Nothing would stop me from spending my day however I liked.

"Good Morning rats!" yelled Ms. Woodrow"

"Good morning Mother" all of the girls mumbled back. Oh yeah did I forget that she makes us call her mother! I just cannot stand her, but it's all right because in just a couple more weeks I would be becoming of age which means I will get to leaves this god forsaken place! I was shaken from thoughts when Ms Woodrow snapped my name.

"Cassie!!" she said," I will not have you waste my time!"

"I'm sorry mother I did not hear what you said." I said blushing a little.

"Well what I said is that you will have exactly ten hours today to spend freely, make sure your back in time!" with that she released us. As we stampeded past her she shrieked "Don't be irresponsible!"

I stepped outside, 'ah what a wonderful day it will be.'
"Wait up Cass!" I turned to see my two best friends, the ones that had been with me the longest. On the left was Jada, a short blonde girl that was just like me except she is much more of a, well an idealist. I am more of a realist but can be optimistic if I choose. On the right was my best friend Atticus he had been with me the longest almost 17 years. We grew up together and became the best of friends. He was of average height but very well toned.

"I'm so glad we are free even if it is only for a day!" Atticus said.

"Me too," I replied" So what should we do first?" I said with a grin.

Jada finally spoke up" Do you guys remember that theatre on the other side of town?"
"Yes actually I do" said Atticus.

"Well I was thinking we could stop by there for a while and watch a play!" she said.

I smirked, last time we went there it didn't end so well. As I looked at their faces I realized they were thinking of the same experience.
Atticus dragged himself out of his thoughts and said," why not?"We all looked at each other and then sprinted off towards the theatre.
