=>From Me To You (Pt.2)<=
The women went on with their day after their touching moment back at Mary's mum's house. Gina thought it would be nice to eat something, since they were all starving.
"What should we eat?", Mary asked, and the three of them took a moment to think.
Shortly afterwards, Kathy looked up and smiled, a familiar neon sign meeting her gaze.
"Are you guys in the mood for some pizza?", she asked, pointing to 'Pizza-Rizza', the most popular pizzeria in their town. The two women exchanged glances, and coincidentally, both of their stomachs grumbled.
"Yea, pizza sounds nice.", Gina answered, and inside they went.
The pizzeria was not that crowded, to their surprise. They managed to get a seat quickly, and Kathy fell in line after taking their orders.
Soon, the three ladies were happily munching on their slices of Hawaiian pizza.
"So, Kathy...", Mary trailed off, swallowing her food before she talked again.
"How's my son towards you? Does he treat you well?", she added. Kathy smiled and nodded.
"Yes, mum. He's very sweet towards be, to be honest. Yet he can be a bit quirky at some times.", Kathy replied, and they chuckled.
"That's good. He brings some fun in the relationship.", Gina spoke.
"When we first told you two you were getting engaged, you both looked like you didn't want it. Am I right?", Mary questioned, and Kathy nodded.
"What changed your minds about each other?
"I don't really know. The whole time we were around each other in a single house, he would constantly flirt with me and make me feel special. I guess, I don't know...", she answered, feeling a blush appear on her cheeks.
"Paul always loved you, y'know.", Mary spoke, and Kathy met her gaze.
"I saw it back when he was a kid. He would always talk about you when he went home from school, and he would get annoyed when I teased him about it. Even as he entered adolescence, he would ask me how his dad courted me back in the day.", Mary recalled, making Kathy smile and bow her head.
"Which surprised me when I announced you were getting married and he acted as if he didn't want it.", she added.
"Maybe he was just trying to not ne obvious, Mary. You know how boys are.", Gina replied, and they all giggled.
"I am lucky to have Paul. He's such a sweet, humorous, and energetic guy. There's never a dull moment with him around.", Kathy answered, and Mary smiled in appreciation.
"And so is he to have you.", she replied, and they all finished their pizza.
The three women soon left the pizzeria after an hour of eating, chatting and giggling. They strolled through the sidewalk and continued their conversation.
It was starting to get dark, and Mary realized that she had to go back to her boys.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Sam and I are staying with Paul for tonight.", Mary stated, and Gina nodded.
"Yeah, and my little princess is staying with me for the moment.", Gina replied, putting an arm around her daughter.
"I had a wonderful day with you, guys. Thank you for this.", Kathy added, and they smiled in return.
"You're very welcome, my dear. Well, toodles. See you lot tomorrow!", Mary said, bidding farewell to the two ladies. They went their opposite directions.
As Gina and her daughter were walking, the former noticed that the latter looked quite sad.
"What's the matter, dear?"
"Oh, nothing, Mum. I just...", Kathy trailed off, and Gina immediately guessed it.
"You miss him, don't you?"
"Yeah, I- I really do.", Kathy finally admitted, smiling a bit to herself. Gina stroked her daughter's hair while they walked.
"Don't worry, darling. Tomorrow will be the start of your infinity together.", Gina replied, smiling.
"Oh my, I sure will miss you! You're not going to be living under my roof, for real! My baby's all grown-up!", she added, getting all emotional.
"Mum, I will miss you, too. Very, very much. We'll make sure to visit often.", Kathy replied, hugging her mother.
"How about some ice cream and some rom-coms?", Gina suggested, after wiping her tears.
"Game on!"
Meanwhile...
"Bye, lads! I had a great time with you all.", Paul said, as his bandmates startes leaving the garage one by one.
"Yeah, same here. Good luck to us tomorrow!", George replied, hugging his friend.
Ringo was the next to approach, smiling and nodding his head towards his mate.
"See ya, and congratulations, by the way. I realized I haven't said that yet.", he spoke, and Paul chuckled, embracing him as well.
John was next to leave, and as he stood in front of his best friend, he had given him a sort of longing look that Paul couldn't understand.
"Tomorrow, huh?", John said, and Paul nodded.
"Yeah, I'm kinda nervous now, actually.", Paul replied. John rolled his eyes.
"When was McCharmly ever nervous? You're a f**king ball pf energy!", he commented, and Paul scratched his neck.
"Not around her I ain't.", he replied, and John fell silent.
"You really love her, huh?", John asked, and Paul smiled.
"With all my heart, you bet."
"I'll miss you.", John stated, and Paul's eyebrows met in confusion.
"What are you talking about? I'm not dying.", Paul laughed, but John stayed serious.
"We'll not be seeing each other often anymore. Y'know, being busy with your wife and all.", John replied, and Paul embraced his best mate.
"Don't say that, mate. You're always welcome to visit us.", Paul cheered him up, making John smile a bit.
"I hope we get to hang out again, just us.", he said, and now Paul was puzzled.
"Um, yea-"
"Bye, now. Goodnight.", John cut him off and hugged his best friend again, the embrace lingering than usual.
They pulled off and John stared in Paul's eyes as if wanting to say something, then left.
"What was that about?", Samuel said, surprising Paul.
"Yeah, I don't know either."
"John always that mushy with you?", his stepdad asked, and Paul shook his head.
"No, to be honest. I find him weird these past few days.", Paul replied.
It was quiet between the two when an idea popped up in Samuel's head, causing his eyes to widen and turn to Paul.
"What?"
"I- I think...", Samuel trailed off.
"Spit it out, Sam!"
"I think John likes you.", he replied.
"WHAT?!", Paul yelled, and Samuel put his finger on his mouth, telling him to keep quiet.
"Shhh! We have neighbors, Paul!"
"Don't shush me! Where'd you get an idea like that?", Paul asked, turning beet red.
"I don't know. I just... feel it.", Samuel replied, holding back his laughter at Paul's awkwardness.
Afterwards, Mary arrived, and smiled at the sight of her husband and son getting along.
"What are you two doing here?", Mary asked, and Samuel and Paul exchanged glances.
"Honey, do you, by any chance, know someone named John?", Samuel teased, and Paul groaned.
"Samuel! Stop it!", Paul whined, tackling Samuel on the ground, both erupting into fits of laughter. Mary just shook her head at her childish boys.
"C'mon, now. It's time to head back inside. You have a big day tomorrow, mister.", Mary said, clapping her hands to get their attention.
They both stood up and brushed the grass from their clothes.
"How was your day, Mum?", Paul asked.
"Oh, very well. We had so much fun! There were strippers and-"
"STRIPPERS?", Paul raised his voice, and Mary stiffled a laugh.
"You're so adorable, Paulie. Of course, they just danced. Nothing sexual or anything.", Mary explained, calming Paul down a bit.
"Someone's over-reacting.", Samuel whispered, and Paul rolled his eyes.
"You could've at least tried to not make me hear it.", Paul replied, earning a chuckle from him and his mum.
After a few minutes had passed Mary noticed that Paul was rather quiet, and he was staring at his shoes as they entered the house.
"Something wrong, dear?", she asked, and Paul's head snapped up.
"Wha- uh, nothing, Mum. Just thinking.", he answered.
"You miss her, don't you?"
Paul sighed. She was right. "Yeah, I really do."
Mary smiled. "Don't worry. Tomorrow, she'll be all yours. But tonight, you're ours.", Mary responded, earning a chuckle from her son.
"Yeah, we might not see you in a while.", Samuel added.
"Of course we'll come and visit often. How could I forget you?", Paul answered, and Mary started tearing up.
"Just one day, you were a little boy playing outside. Now, you're a grown man who's getting married tomorrow. I can't believe it! My baby boy's going to be a husband!", Mary remarked, and Paul hugged her tightly.
"Mum, thank you for being there for me. I love you.", Paul said, and Samuel got jealous and joined the hug.
"And you, too.", Paul said, making Samuel smile and tear up a bit, as well.
They all pulled away after some time, and wiped their tears.
"Now, who's for some popcorn and a movie marathon?", Paul suggested, earning a smile from his mum and stepdad.
