Side Story Part 4
Stacy's POV
"No, Parker, we are not going to the haunted manor!" I yelled at Parker. We met up with the man who sent us the telegram's friend. He gave us the Mgnaniel gang's complete order... Which includes 20 tons of scrap iron, and 10 orders of tnt. If this was revenge, the leader of he Mgnaniel gang was doing it in style. We got a map to the wapoothi canyon... But on the way, there's a haunted manor, which Parker wants to go to.
"Aww, come on, Stace!" He whined. I frowned.
"No."
"Ok, fine. Say, how about I lead the way?" I was so tired and lazy that I said yes. Big mistake. We started walking, and I looked up into the stars.
"Look how beautiful the sky is!" I said, my head straight up into the night sky.
"Sure is..." I looked behind me to see Parker staring straight at me. He noticed I saw him and looked away, clearing his throat.
"Well, we're almost there!" He said, pointing to an archway. I narrowed my eyes, squinting.
"You sure thats the Wapoothi Canyons?" I asked. He nodded.
"Yep. Let's keep going." He said. We walked straight until we walked through the archway, which had a gate. I heard something slam shut behind me. I turned to see the gate locked.
"Parker...?" I asked warily.
"Yeah Stace?" He responded.
"This isn't the Wapoothi Canyons, is it?" I asked.
"Not at all Stacy." He said. I turned and punched him in the arm.
"PARKER!! I yelled.
"We don't know what could be in there!" I said, angry now. Then, I felt raindrops on my head. I looked up and saw a lightning strike five feet away from us. We screamed.
"M-maybe we should head inside." I said.
"G-Good idea." Said Parker. We went inside the house. I was very afraid, and I think Parker could feel my terrified self.
"It's ok, Stacy. I'll protect you." He said.
"Shut up, Parker." I said, grip my dagger and had it out just in case. We walked in.
--------------
"So, we have to do what again?!" Asked Parker. I rolled my eyes.
"Go to another world, save someone in the form of the horse, then come back." I said.
"Yes, because it's so obvious." He said. We walked into the portal, which was white with black stripes. We walked all the way to the other side, and I look around, scared.
"Parker... Where are we?" I say. He bites his lip.
"Looks like some sort of cemetery..." He says. Then, I gasp. I see a horse, and his name is Jacob.
"Look! It's Jacob! The horse!" I say. We walk to him, and he turns into a ghost horse.
"Thank you for freeing me..." He says. Then, the horse disappeared. I turn to Parker.
"That was pretty fast..." I said.
"Yep." He said.
------------------------
We were out in front of the manor, and there was only one horse.
"You can take it, Parker." I said. He shook his head no.
"You take it, Stace. Besides, you're better with horses then I am..." He said. I sighed.
"Ok, fine..." I said.
We walked to the Wapoothi Canyons, and by the time we got to the base camp, Parker was out of breath. I sighed.
"Parker, take the horse..." I said.
"No." He said. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Get on. Right now." I said. He smirked.
"Ok, fine." And he grabbed the saddle, pulling himself on. I started to get off, but I felt Parker's grip on my waist.
"Nuh uh. Either I ride with you, or I don't ride at all." I sighed, rolling my eyes.
"Fine!" I said, dragging the word out as we rode on. I felt Parker's grip on me tighten as we went faster.
"Look! The entrance to the mines!" I said, jumping off the horse and out of Parker's grip.
"So, I take it we are here?" He asked. I walked through the entrance and gulped when I saw what was in front of me...
"Hey Parker..." I said.
"Yeah?" He asked, walking up the stairs.
"You still afraid of heights, by any chance?" I asked.
"I sure am. What about that?" He asked.
"Well, umm... You see..." I started to explain, but he reached me before I could.
"Bridges!?" He yelled, staring at the thin walkway at least twelve feet above the ground. I nodded, slowly.
"Ok, I'll wait for you over there." He said, walking back out, but I stopped him by grabbing his arm, pulling him back.
"What are you doing Stace?" He asked. I looked at him in the eyes.
"What if the Mgnaniel gang is here? How am I supposed to fight them without you?" I asked. He sighed and kept walking out, but I didn't let go. Which caused something super awkward to happen... He pulled his arm out of my grip, but I kept holding on, which caused my hand to go from his forearm, to his wrist, to his hand. He turned when I felt his warm hand in mine, and looked at me, raising his eyebrows.
"You want me to go that badly?" He asked. I nodded, not letting go. He sighed.
"Ok let's go." He started to walk out and neither of us let go. So, yes, we were holding hands.... Unintentionally... I led Parker through the bridge, encouraging him not to look down. He did anyways, and started trembling once he did.
"Parker, listen to me. I'll never let you fall. Ok?" I said. He nodded slowly. (And I'll never let you faaaall! Let me be your wings... Let me be your only love... Let me take you faaaar beyond the stars... Anyone know where that came from?)
Finally, we got to a little cave, and found a journal, letting go of Parker to read it. I skimmed through it, reading it.
"Again, Stace... Mind reading it aloud?" He asked. I ignored him.
"Here, let me tell you what it's saying... Lionel, the new leader, his shipment arrived and he's assembling it now. But to all his followers, they have to find two keys to prove their worth. One of the keys is with the Shishoni tribe, the other is in this place called the tunnel. When they're done, they have to take it in front of Fort Minerdale's gold mines." I said. He nodded, reading the journal entry I handed him.
"Parker, if this is revenge, then they're going all out. Maybe we should be more careful. I don't know about you, but the TNT scares me the most about this whole thing.... It terrifies me." I told him.
"It's ok, we'll be fine." He said. We walked back out to where we left the horse, and this time, Parker got on first, me climbing on after. I wrapped my arms around his waist, as he clicked his tongue for the horse to go. I sighed thinking about something...
Why did Parker's hand feel warm?
