Chapter 8
You slide down the rabbit hole, Jerry right in front of you. Through the twists and turns, you kept hitting up against the dirt walls. Soon, after a little while of screaming at the top of your lungs, you saw a small light. The tunnel began to act like a slide as it evened out to a easy slope. Your speed decreased from turbo drive to a mousey run. Then, you came to a lovely stop with dirt scratches all over your body. You were forced the get up and walk to the opening, but you stumbled a little from the wild ride.
Finally, you reached the end of the tunnel where another mouse was there to greet you. He was a little taller than Jerry with a bit of a dirty smell to match with black fur. He was a little larger than most, almost like he'd just finished a Christmas dinner. He had a single bucked tooth that shown in front of his lip with the help of his over bite. Still, this mouse greeted you with a loveable smile that made you feel welcomed and appreciated.
"OUI!! If it isn't the Very Scary Jerry!!!" The mouse welcomed. He slung an arm over Jerry's shoulder, confusing your friend. "It's been a while since you've been here, my man. How ya been? Nail any cats recently?"
The brown mouse didn't know how to respond. You assumed he felt awkward due to the "Amnesia Crisis" going on. The greeter didn't seem aware of your current issue. Hoping to speed up the reunion, you butted in.
"Oh, he's fine. He's got a bit of uh, sore throat!!! That's it," you answered.
"Hope ya feel better then, mate," the mouse answered. "I'm afraid I don't know you, lassie. Who might you be?"
"I'm (Y/N), Jerry's friend. We just wanted to find little Nibbles."
"Oui, he must be one of the little kids going to the 'Cat Camp' over yonder. I can take the two of ya; it be on the other side of the city anyways. "
The mouse began to lead you down the street, where you were awestruck by the glorious city around you. Homes and businesses were made from old boxes, logs, and even nonperishable foods. You were shocked by how many people you saw in the small town. The streets were congested with mice, rats, and even a couple weasels here and there. Shops and vendors were selling food, clothes, and other souvenirs for travelers and visitors like yourself. You had lived in this human city your entire life, but you had never been in this little rodent town. How could you have never heard of it?
"This your first time in Rodenta, lassie?" The greeter asked you.
"Afraid so," you answered.
"Nothing wrong with that, love. If everyone knew about this place, we might have some issues with humans catching on. This place is like a safe haven for us rodents. We go here to have some fun, learn some new things, and meet up with old friends. I've been a greeter for three years. Now, I know every face in this city. Course, didn't recognize you. "
"But you knew Jerry?"
"Course, Jerry drops off little Nibbles at a camp every now and again. Little guy's parents are gone, so he's switching between a camp and this hero. Spends a month with Jerry, a week at camp. Little Nibbles is gonna grow up to be a great Cat Killer like Jerry here."
After a little more time was l king through the streets of Rodenta, you reached a small open area that resembles a park. In the park, there was a small group of children gathered around a few adults. You approached the kids with care, but the second they caught a glimpse of Jerry, they engulfed with like a tidal wave. They asked for autographs, high-fives, and pictures. Jerry was frightened at first, but grew warm to the kids in a few seconds. You just giggled at the brown mouse and the kids.
A little voice peeped up from behind you. You turned around to see little Nibbles with the largest smile you had ever seen.
"UNCLE JERRY!!!!!" The little gray mouse exclaimed. He ran and engulfed your friend in a large bear hug.
