2-A Ghost!

"Um...well this is the lab. Not much else to show you." I felt awkward showing people around my house. I never really had friends, so I wasn't sure how to act around them. I was nervous, but also really happy about being able to show my parents' work to them.

"This stuff is cool and all," Tucker said. "But what about the ghosts?"

"Oh... Um...their in there," I pointed to the Ghost Portal." I saw their eyes light up. "B-but the thing is...only I can see them. You see, the portal wasn't working, so I turned it back on, by instead, I got caught in the power up and it gave me...ghost powers..." That sounded fake, even to me, who was the one it happened to.

Tucker and Sam, who were crazy to even think of believing in ghosts, even gave me a doubting look. That was probably aimed at my sanity.

I didn't really feel comfortable changing in from of people, but I decided it was the only way to convince them. The two white rings appeared around my middle and traveled up until I was fully in my ghost form.

The problem was, you couldn't really see me. As a halfa (half ghost, half human) I wasn't entirely invisibly like the other ghosts. If you didn't look directly as me, you could faintly see an outline of a boy with white hair, and my green eyes, which glowed faintly in the dark.

Tucker and Sam's jaws dropped. Them smiled broke across their faces. "Cool!" Tucker said. I turned human again, a little embarrassed by the attention.

"My parents had been working on a way to see ghosts, but ever since the accident, my mom refused to come down to the lab. My dad will sneak down here every so often, but I usually use it to test my powers.

"Powers?" Sam asked. "So you can do more than just turning invisible?"

I nodded. "Ghosts can shoot ectoplasm and go intangible too. Oh, and I can also fly."

"Sweet!" Tucker said. Suddenly, mom's voice rang through the house. "Danny! Did you do your homework."

"O-oh...um...n-not yet mom!"

"Are you in the lab again? I gold you it's off limits. There's no such thing as ghosts!"

I winced and my new friends gave me a look that said You really haven't told them about your powers?

"S-sorry mom. I'll be right up. I-I made some new friends at school today. Is it okay if they stay here a little longer?"

"Friends? Oh, that's great sweetie! Of course they can! I'll set out a snack for you kids right away!"

I let out a sigh of relief. "Sorry about that. I'm not exactly supposed to be down here. My dad doesn't mind, but after the accident, I let it slip that there was a ghost and my mom thought their obsession had made me start seeing things. Dad goes down here to work on inventions despite my mom's protests, but she hates me and Jazz down here."

"Your parents don't know about your powers?" Tucker asked.

I shook my head. "Mom wouldn't believe me and dad's always saying he wants to capture a ghost and dissect it for science." An involuntary shiver ran through me, which had nothing to do with my ghost sense. I couldn't let my dad, or mom for that matter, figure me out or I could die a slow and painful death.

"Danny? Are you okay? You look a little pale."

"O-oh, it's nothing. I guess we can go up to my room. Unless you guys just want to go home. That works too."

"Eh," Sam said. "I'd rather be anywhere than home right now."

"Do you have video games?" Tucker asked. "Cuz I'm all over that."

I smiled, realizing I had never really fit in with anyone before. I was always the weird kid with ghost fighting parents and was too dumb to be the child of two scientists. I wished I was more like Jazz and could get an easy 100% on state tests and gave a 4.0 GPA all through high school, but I couldn't seem to pay attention in class. Now, with ghost hunting as a new "hobby" of mine, my grades were going down the drain. Finally, I had something in my life to look forward to and if the firs step was to befriend who people considered the "weirdos" of Casper High, I was fine with that.

*realizes the last paragraph had nothing to do with anything* eh. I'm too lazy to rewrite it.

I hope y'all are liking this! I really like how this story is going and I hope you are too! (Kinda a short chapter but eh)
