I Promise

I SWEAR TO GOD WATTPAD FIX YOUR SHIT

The door was red. It was freshly painted over with red paint. He remembered watching them painting the door together. Him and his father.

Zoro stood before the door holding a small gift. Balloons were pinned to the door frame in various shades of blue. He hesitated before knocking at the door. He swallowed thickly patting his hair that was slicked back.

The door opened to a boy with blonde hair. His face lit up with a small smile wearing a party hat. He leaned against the door folding an arm behind his back while Zoro stood there awkwardly.

He was madly in love with the boy with blonde hair.

"You can come in." Sanji spoke.

Zoro snapped out of it before heading inside. Sanji noticed the poorly wrapped box in his hands. It was small. Very. small. It fit in his tiny little boy hand. With torn blue paper. Sanji smiled softly shutting the door as Zoro stepped inside. A few handful of the party guests knew who Zoro was and went to him. Luffy put a party hat on his head. While Zoro placed the small box on the table with the other gifts.

"Alright everyone! Since we are all here. Let's play a game!" Nami called.

Sanji sat on a foot rest in the middle of the room. Nami stood behind him putting a crown on his head. Luffy tried to steal. Often.

"Now we're gonna go around the room and say one good memory about the birthday boy." Nami said.

Sanji snickered with a blush.

"Now, my favorite memory is when you beat up those bullies who stole my bracelet. It was real heroic of you."

"It was nothing." Sanji grinned.

Zeff leaned against the wall watching them talk about his son. Luffy brought up everytime Sanji shared his lunch with him. Usopp told about the time they saved each other from bugs and bullies. And. All that was left was Zoro.
There was plenty of times Zoro remembered with Sanji. There first fight. Sanji patching up his wounds. Or the time he first fell in love with Sanji.

"I uh. I can't think of any."

Sanji frowned slightly.

"Alright kids, let's eat before Sanji opens his gifts."

They headed to the kitchen where Zoro stole his gift back from the table and put it in his pocket. Then headed with the other kids to the kitchen. Where Luffy was restrained by a small gate between the kitchen and the dinning room. Zeff knew about Luffy and his unhealthy eating habit. So. bought a small gate.

Until he gets old enough to walk over it.

Sanji sat in the dark with the dim lights of the candles. Everyone sang him Happy birthday in an awful tune. But Sanji still liked it. Before he blew out his candles and the room was dark. The lights flicked on with clapping of his guests.

Once it came around to gifts. Zoro wasn't there. He sat on the porch. Looking down to his stupid little gift.

Or what he thought was stupid.

"Oh there you are." Sanji chimed.

Zoro turned to him holding close the box.

"W-What are you doing out here?" Zoro asked.

Sanji went and sat next to him, "I could ask you the same thing."

Zoro looked back to the box earning Sanji's attention.

"Is that supposed to be for me?" he asked.

"Uh. yeah. But it's stupid. I'm gonna return it."

"No no. lemme see."

Zoro sighed handing off the box while Sanji pulled the wrapping off and pulled out a slip of paper. He unfolded it while Zoro hid in the palms of his hands. Sanji smiled.

"I give you this ring, as a promise to you. A promise that I'll be here and I'll always be true. I promise that I'll hold you when your day isn't right. I will comfort you through the long cold night. I promise that I'll make you smile when you feel like dying. I promise that I'll be here when you feel like crying. I promise I will guide you when the future isn't clear. I promise I will be there to wipe away your every tear. I promise that no matter what we will make it through. I give you this ring as a promise. A promise that, I will always love you."

Sanji looked to the small silver ring in the bottom of the box. He slipped it onto his finger, but it was too big. Zoro looked over to Sanji admiring the silver ring on his little boy finger. He turned to Zoro with a large smile.

"I love it."

Sanji kissed his cheek having Zoro light up and turn to him. His face broke out in a deep blush as Sanji then went inside to show it off. Zoro snickered to himself.

As the years went by. Zoro and Sanji fell in love. And that little promise. Turned into something bigger.

Sanji ran his fingers through Zoro's pushed back green hair. He was asleep on his chest while they had a time at the bar. Zoro fell asleep with Sanji combing through his hair. Sanji perked up to padding of feet and two heads poking into the living room. Sanji put a finger to his lips. Zoro grumbled taking Sanji's hand and putting it back on his head. Then curled back up on him. The children giggled going to their parents.

"Come on dad! We gotta sing happy birthday to daddy!" Satori called.

"Yeah!" Loulee chimed.

"Five more minutes." Zoro grumbled.

"No! We gotta do it now! Daddy has to open our gifts afterward!"

Zoro cracked an eye open to them, "Alright."

They cheered as Zoro got up and they all headed to the kitchen. Sanji frowned to the store bought cake that Zoro bought. Before he let it go and sat at the table. Where there children surrounded the cake while they put in a few candles. They climbed up to look at the table while Zoro turned off the lights the small family sang happy birthday over Sanji's shoulder. Before he blew out his candles. Zoro kissed his temple before turning on the light.
Sanji gave small slices to the kids before they got a sugar high. He then got mad at Zoro for buying such garbage. But Sanji ate it anyway since. He didn't want to waste it.

Sanji sat in Zoro's lap eating the sweet treat. They watched the kids run around the house blowing off the sugar rush. Zoro wrapped his arms around Sanji's waist. While Sanji set his plate on the couch before pouting.

"I can't believe you bought that garbage." Sanji huffed.

"Hey, I did intend to make a cake. But. I wanted to make sure the kids ate it too." Zoro grumbled.

Sanji cupped his cheek before bringing him into a kiss.

"Daddy! Daddy! Open my gift!" Loulee called.

"No! Open mine first!" Satori cried.

"Satori, you know. Ladies first."

Loulee placed her box in Sanji's hands. Zoro rested on his shoulder knowing what kind of gift was inside. He grinned pulling out a new tie.

"Oh thank you darling." Sanji said.

He kissed her cheek before Satori set his gift on Sanji's lap. He placed his tie on his shoulder before he opened the box. Zoro was quite curious of what was inside the box. Only to find a new cooking pot inside. Which he probably stole. From either of his grandparents.

"Oh. Satori. Thank you sweetheart."

He kissed his forehead before they went upstairs to change into there pajamas.

"My gift is a two parter." Zoro spoke.

Sanji glanced over his shoulder, "Oh?"

"What's your last name?"

Sanji rolled his eyes, "Vinsmoke, you and I both know the cursed name I'm-"

"Let's change that. Shall we?"

Sanji furrowed as Zoro took his hand slipping a ring on his hand. He turned to the ring, pulling his hand away from Zoro's to get a better look at it.

Zoro whispered closed, "Marry me, let's spend our weeknights eating cereal on the floor. When there is a perfectly fine table behind us. We can go out to the movies and sit in the back row. Just to make out like kids falling in love for the first time. Marry me. We'll paint the rooms of our house and get more paint on us than the walls. We can hold hands and go to parties we end up ditching to drink wine out of the bottle in the bathtub. Marry me. Dance with me in our bedroom. With an unmade bed and candles on the nightstand. Let me love you forever. Marry me."

Sanji sniffled looking down to his ring. He turned to Zoro before embracing him. He chuckled as Sanji cried on his shoulder. He pulled back kissing him deeply, then began to pepper his face in kisses. Zoro chuckled as Sanji pulled back cupping his face.

"I thought you'd never ask." Sanji grinned.

"I was waiting for the time to be right. Besides. We don't need to tell anyone. I told everyone for you. Well. besides."

He looked behind him to there two kids standing in the doorway of the living room. Sanji smiled sitting in Zoro's lap wiping away his tears.

"What's going on? Why is daddy crying?" Loulee asked.

"We're getting married." Sanji smiled.

They gasped before dashing to them and they embraced. A big ol happy family.

Once the children had been tucked away to bed. Sanji and Zoro headed to bed themselves. Sanji stripping off his suit and into his boxers.

"So. what's part two of my gift?"

"Lie down and find out." Zoro purred.
