Lost

A/N: This chapter makes me cry e v e r y s i n g l e t i m e I look over it. Every three chapters I say "this is my favorite chapter" but like - I seriously think this and "All Good Things..." are my all time favorites??? Like I only somewhat teared up twice before in this story and now I'm crying all the time because of these two chapters. We're in for a long ride oh boy.

I don't really like to use flashbacks that much, but since this is an important moment in two out of the three protagonist's relationship, I figured I'd show it. Hope you enjoy!

~Three Years Ago, Ganymede~

"What's this?" you ask, skipping next to your boyfriend, Jungkook. He softly smiles and shakes his head.

"You'll see," he replies, holding your hand and bringing you closer to the enormous, circular building. When the doors are in sight, Jungkook almost seems... nervous.

"You feeling okay?" you ask, peeping up at him with furrowed brows.

He swallows whatever was in his throat, then brushes off your concerns. "Yeah, I hope you like it." You don't pry any further as he leads you through the door, and a tiny lobby awaits.

"Hello! Here for the show?" a kind lady standing behind the front desk asks.

Jungkook dips his head, hummin in the process. "Yes, I made arrangements online already. Should be under Jeon."

She taps away on the hologram, then lights up. "Alright, I see your name. Jeon, party of two. Straight through those doors, the show should be starting any minute, you're right on time."

Jungkook appears as though he wants to bounce up and down from excitement. Instead, he remains on the ground, giving your hand a squeeze. "Thank you," he replies before bringing you closer to the door.

"This isn't like a secret dungeon is it?" you ask. He snickers, leads you through them. It's just a gigantic, sphere-shaped room. The ceiling is blank, and there's only a couple other people in the room. There's a plentiful amount of chairs, so Jungkook guides you to the secluded corner, away from all the others. You mentally thank him as you sit. As soon as you do, the seat leans back a little, pointing you towards the ceiling.

"Woah," you say in a gasp, using all your remaining willpower not to toy around with the funky chair.

"It's okay, that's supposed to happen."

You peek over at him and give him a small smile. Although concerned, you have to admit it brings a spike of adrenaline to the pits of your stomach. "What's going on?"

"You'll find out in a few moments." You raise a brow but don't push him any further. With a relieved sigh, you lean back and admire the ceiling. You have no idea what's going on, but it doesn't look like anything that will get you killed, so you decide to trust him. Jungkook and you have only been together for about a month, but you still decided to sneak out to see him. You know you'll get screamed at for it in the morning. However, right now you don't care.

Jungkook still holds your hand, you looking up and staying quiet. After another two minutes, the lights dim, and the ceiling begins to light up. And that's when you realize it. It's a screen. The question is for what? It boots up quickly, then you see stars. Your mouth falls open as you understand what's going on. You've read books about these. What are they called.. planetariums? You whip your head over at him and give him what you hope is a grateful expression. He returns the face, smiling like a little bunny.

"You didn't," you whisper, and he shrugs it off.

"I did."

You bounce in your seat and turn back to the ceiling, watching as the screen drifts through the stars and explores the solar system. They show each planet's exterior before starting with the sun, zooming around it and showing some solar flares. A gasp leaves your lips. You've never seen such in-detail videos before. It almost feels real. Then, it shifts to Mercury, showing the uninhabited space and the surface. You lean forward, your eyes expanding as you drink the sights all in. The cratered surface blows your mind. You can't help but be drawn in somehow even more than you already are.

It explores Mercury, going through fun facts and all the different locations before zooming out and showing the stars, racing through them and landing on Venus. You never cared for Venus. It always seemed like the physical form of an angry face. Always melting everything, scaring humanity off from settling down there. You still watch closely as the program explains the greenhouse effect and how it made Venus the hottest planet in the solar system. The colors explode across your vision, the various shades amazing you.

You peek over at Jungkook and give him a warm smile. No one has ever done anything like this for you. You wonder how you can thank him. You've always been a little shy around him, but you have a feeling that'll change after tonight. He's showing that he's comfortable around you, no matter what. Now you need to show him that too. It's only fair. After all, you can tell what you have with him is good.

You glance back up in time to see the projection play Earth, and your heart stops. So much longing fills your eyes as it plays over the waterfalls and trees, showing all the different skyscrapers and clouds. You freeze up, engraving each picture into your mind forever, not wanting this moment to end. It shows the sky. That's when your stomach does a flip. For the first time, looking up doesn't scare you. You see the beautiful blue sky, the clouds, and the sun. The program asks you to find a shape in the clouds, and Jungkook nudges you.

"Hey," he whispers. You peep back at him in awe. He softly smiles, resting his hand on your cheek. "I'm going to take you there one day." Your body relaxes, and without hesitation, you lean up and kiss him. He's jumps, but after another second, he kisses back.

His lips taste like mint, mostly due to his lip balm, but it doesn't bother you. It's not like you know how to kiss. You press your lips on his, enjoying the feeling and his taste. Based on how he mimics your actions, you can tell he returns the sentiment. You keep your mouths connected for a few more seconds, cherishing the sensation, before pulling back and staring into his eyes. He's still astonished, searching to see if this is really you and not an alien. He was probably expecting you to be shy, but when you smile, you can see it in his eyes. He really likes you. You quietly laugh, shaking your head.

"I'm holding you to that."

~Present || 19:41~

"Baekhyun?"

"Yes?"

"Track where they're going."

Your eyes almost burst free of their sockets when Jimin storms back up to the bridge. Baekhyun races to the cockpit while Jin hurries and activates the forcefield as the Belt's ship starts to detach. "Jimin!" you shout, snapping back to your senses and following the Captain onto the bridge. He pauses, turning around to look at you. "We aren't seriously letting them do this, right?"

He holds his breath, then brushes the thought aside as if it slapped him in the face. "I'm not letting them take him."

"Whatever we're going to do, we need to hurry. Hoseok I need you," Baekhyun says, throwing on a few switches. Hoseok comes up and into the cockpit, kneeling and preparing to track their ship.

"Why do we need to hurry?" you ask, fumbling over each syllable.

"Jungkook told me that the Belt has these experimental enhancements, they turn you into an emotionless killer. If they have the chance to inject him with that..."

"We'll lose him forever," you finish in a whisper, another tear falling down your cheek. "Oh my God." The realization slams into you. You're about to lose your first love. Your best friend.

You lean against the nearest table for support, your vision going hazy and your body glistening with moisture. "Y/N, hey," Jimin says, his voice shaky. He approaches you, then grips your shoulders. "We're not losing him, okay? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if we lost him."

You still feel so hot and lightheaded, but you manage to nod. "How will we get him?"

"I told you about how we cloaked an escape pod, right?" You faintly remember it, he explained it two nights ago while listening to music. You nod again. "If we can follow them, we can dock on a secluded part of their ship and cut a hole inside. We can get in and out undetected. There's only one problem."

The entire crew is on the bridge already. You were too caught up in your emotions to notice. The last words Jungkook said to you was 'I love you'. You can't let him go. You didn't even get the chance to say it back: you do love him. He's your closest friend, your everything. Losing that would be like losing part of yourself. You can't cope with that. That's without mentioning how you can't get the memory of your first kiss with him out of your head. It keeps replaying over and over. He's special. He always has been. That night proved it to you.

"What's the problem?" Taehyung asks, his hands trembling.

Jimin glances at Tae, and it's in that moment everyone realizes what the Captain's about to say. Yet that still doesn't prepare Taehyung for the answer. "We only have one escape pod."

"I'm going," Tae says, stepping up taller than he ever has before.

"I'm sorry Taehyung, but even if we had more, this is a mission for three people only."

"I'm not letting him go when I can help him!" he says in a shout, but Jimin holds his ground.

"We need at least half of the crew on Ganymede, five would be even better." You give Jimin a pleading look, and he nods. "I'm going, along with Y/N and Yoongi, if he accepts."

The man raises a brow, but he doesn't disagree. "Anything you need."

Taehyung casts his gaze to the ground, his nails digging into his palms. "Tae," you whisper, and he sighs before meeting your eyes. "I swear on my own life we're going to bring him home. He means everything to me, I can't lose him either, okay?"

Taehyung stares at you for a few seconds, processing your words, then he firmly nods. "I know you will. You guys are strong, you'll make it. I know it."

You agree and gaze back at the cockpit. "Will they know that we're tracking them?" you ask as Hoseok approaches, holding a chip in his hand.

"I managed to get a ping on their trajectory as they were moving away. It's not 100 percent accurate, but if you leave now, you can follow them with your eyes as well. They shouldn't be able to know, I covered my tracks," Hoseok replies, handing the chip to Jimin.

He tosses it to you, and you watch the signal move on the dark green screen. "Yoongi?" Jimin asks, and the man stands at attention. "Can you go get us our gear? Y/N and I will start the escape pod."

The man dips his head. "I'll meet you there in two minutes."

Jimin gives Yoongi a grateful expression as he rushes into action. "The armory is still locked down, I'll go with him," Seulgi says. She dashes off after Yoongi, and Jimin takes a moment to look over the crew's fallen faces. He takes a deep breath. You're mentally a mess, but physically, you're ready to go after him. You love this boy. You can't stand the idea of him being alone.

"When we leave, touch down on Ganymede. When they realize Jungkook is gone, they'll come after us, and we stand no chance out here. Down there, however, we might be able to win. With Ganymede on our side, maybe, just maybe we can get the Belt off our backs once and for all."

Baekhyun hesitates. "What about you?"

"We'll meet you there. The escape pod will have more than enough fuel for that, don't worry." Jimin sighs, glancing around the room one more time before giving everyone a determined glare.

"Let's go bring back our boy."

~20:41~

This has been the most excruciating hour of Jimin's life. Floating in an escape pod while Y/N goes towards the Belt's ship. The Belt got a head start, but they're finally closing the gap. She uses both her eyes and the chip Hoseok gave her to locate their ship, which looks to be a small cruiser. "We have about two minutes, where should I touch down?" she asks.

"Anywhere, but preferably a corner. I brought the cutter," Jimin says, tapping on the large device sitting where normally the fourth person would be. He needed an entire chair, it wouldn't have fit otherwise.

Yoongi sits across from him, his leg bouncing up and down. All three of them have armor, but didn't bother with helmets in case the Ganymede crew needed them more. They also have pistols holstered and an AR strapped around their bodies, plenty of ammo to go around. "Do you think the cloak will work?" she asks, tapping on the cylinder to make sure it's beeping.

"For all of our sakes, I hope so," Yoongi mutters. Jimin silently agrees.

Y/N goes quiet as the cruiser gets closer. They look to be about a minute away now, their tiny escape pod going as fast as it can. "I'm staying low, I'm going to park against the floor. They would have shot at us by now, the cloak is working," Y/N says, and Jimin lets out a mental cheer. Phase one of their plan is a success. Now for the hardest part: actually breaking in and rescuing Jungkook.

"I have no clue how we're going to find Jungkook," Jimin bluntly says. He rushed into action, so he didn't really come up with a plan.

"I think I can help with that," Y/N says as she approaches the underbelly of the ship. She slows her speed, turning the escape pod around. "The clamps will dig into the side of the ship, hopefully it won't rumble at all. It's a cruiser, so it shouldn't, but be on your toes just in case."

"Let's hope no one's around while we cut," Jimin says, and Yoongi nods. "We have to cut fast. Y/N, what's your idea?" Jimin asks as soon as she successfully docks.

She lets out a sigh of relief and spins around in her chair. "We use the vents. We enter them through the nearest floorboard and search based on the openings. I'm guessing this ship isn't highly populated. Around 30 men at most, cruisers may be big, but they're more for racing and transporting, not military power. If needed, I'm sure we can overtake the whole ship. It'd be difficult, but if we take them out one by one and cover our tracks, we could."

"I hate the Belt as much as the next person, but I don't know how I feel about killing all those people," Jimin says.

"I understand, but they took Jungkook."

"I have to agree with Jimin here, it'll not only keep us saner to be stealthy, but it may be easier and quicker as well," Yoongi replies, and she nods. She has a fire in her eyes that Jimin has never seen. It honestly scares him.

"Let's get to work," she says, and he agrees, snapping back to reality and grabbing the cutter. He listens for a few moments, trying to listen for any signs of footsteps, but he can't hear any.

"It should only take a minute at most," he says, opening the escape pod's doors. Luckily since they're clamped into the ship, there's no loss of oxygen. So, he starts cutting a small circle. There's sparks, and he has to squint and tilt his head away. Yoongi stares at it with amazement while Y/N covers her eyes.

After exactly a minute, the circle is finished, and Jimin moves away just in time. The circle falls downward since they're parked on the floor of the ship. He can't stop his gulp. "Let the sides cool off for a moment," he whispers, watching as it goes from a searing orange to its natural cool color. They have gloves that can adapt to their environment, so heat shouldn't be a problem, but Jimin can get paranoid sometimes. "I'll go first."

Since the escape pod is bent at an unnatural angle, it takes Jimin a moment to get his footwork down, but he does, mostly by climbing the seat. "Y/N, did you bring the board?" Jimin asks, and she hums, reaching down under the dash and pulling out a long, metal board. "Perfect, that should fit through the hole," he whispers as he pushes himself forward. He grabs both sides of the hole and propels himself up. He swings one leg around as he enters the Belt's ship. They're in a corner, the lights are shining down. It's a long metal hallway, no colors or emotions present. Yoongi comes up behind him, holding the board and handing it to Jimin.

He fully enters the enemy's ship and grabs the board, barely pulling it through and placing it down, offering his hand to Yoongi, who takes it. Lastly, Y/N comes up, taking Jimin's hand and jumping up and onto the new floor. Once all three are successfully onboard, Jimin slides the metal board over the hole. It doesn't completely cover it, but it covers enough that it's not noticeable unless they're looking.

"Where are we?" Y/N asks, peeking around. There aren't really any doors around, it's only one hallway. One space they have to work with. It makes Jimin feel like a mouse in a cage.

"I'll start a map," Yoongi says, pressing on his wrist and bringing up a hologram, drawing a line.

"You know how to do that?" Jimin asks.

"Not really, but we kind of need one," he replies, tapping away on the controls of his wrist comm.

"Where would the nearest floorboard be, Y/N?"

The girl sighs, crouching down and inching along the walls. Jimin and Yoongi follow in her footsteps, staying low and quiet as she inspects the walls. "Floorboard and vent entrances should be scattered all around, any of these panels could be weak and we can slip through them," she says, pressing on each panel.

Jimin does the same, except with the floor as they pass. He presses on each floorboard but finds nothing. "Wait, I have something," she whispers, pressing on one of the panels near the curve of the hallway. It bends: one of the screws is missing. "Hurry Jimin, I don't know how much time we have, I'll keep watch," she says, peeking around the corner as Jimin approaches the panel. He pulls out his screwdriver and gets to work, doing the other three as fast as possible. It only takes him half a minute. He peels away the panel and motions for Yoongi to enter. He does, crawling inside.

"Y/N, now you," he says, and she reluctantly takes her eyes off the hallway and goes in after Yoongi. Jimin picks up the screws and puts them in his pocket, entering and making sure the panel is somewhat lined up again before turning around and observing the cramped crawlspace. There's a ladder only a few feet away. Yoongi scoots over to it, grabbing the rings of the object and going up.

"This probably leads to the upper vents," Y/N says.

Jimin gives her a strange look. "Probably?"

She shrugs. "Probably."

She goes up the ladder, and after she's a few feet up, Jimin follows, staying close behind. He knows this is a serious mission, and he's terrified of losing Jungkook, but having Y/N's ass in his face is really not helping. He doesn't want to be distracted but... it's just kinda there. Last time her ass was in his face, he acted on it. In the movie theatre when they fucked, right before their date. She bent over in front of him, and that's the reason why they fucked. Oh well, he'll have to act on it later, when they have Jungkook safe and sound.

After about twenty seconds of climbing, Y/N and Jimin reach the top to see Yoongi crouching down, waiting for them. It's a tight metal space, and up ahead there seems to be a three way intersection. One leading straight, one to the left, and one to the right. "Well, shit," Jimin whispers, and Yoongi nods. "Are your enhancements...?" Jimin asks, trailing off.

Yoongi nods. "They're working."

"What do you think we should do?"

"You won't like it."

"Hit me."

Yoongi hesitates, then looks back at the three directions and points at each one as he speaks. "We split up. I go straight, Y/N goes right, you go left."

Jimin hates the idea, but knows there's no better one. They have to hurry. Not only are they risking getting caught the longer they're here, but the more they stall the more likely Jungkook will be hurt or worse. "Alright, let's do it. Comm each other if there's any issues. Check ins every five minutes if you can," Jimin says, and Yoongi and Y/N agree.

Yoongi goes straight, and Y/N breaks off right, leaving Jimin to go left. He crawls on the metal vent, trying not to make too much noise. Every once in a while there's a panel that has slits in it, allowing him to see through and open it if he must, but he hasn't dropped down yet. He approaches on of those slits and peeks down, trying to see. It looks like he's over the greenhouse right now, and there are five people in it. All tall and frail, paler than anyone Jimin has ever seen. Three are men, two are women. They're tending to their plants in silence. Jimin hates how casual they look.

He's extra careful as he creeps by, trying not to pound against the hard material as he keeps traversing down the vent. This pattern keeps up for about three more minutes until he reaches the end of the vent, which has an opening. There's not even a panel covering it, it's just a complete hole in the vent. He sneaks over and peeks down, seeing what looks to be a lab. His brows furrow. Jimin lets his head go down further. When he sees no one around, he makes the decision to jump down. He falls and lands on his feet. The sound wasn't too loud, but he still winces when he makes impact with the floors.

He's about to start investigating when the door pops open. Jimin ducks, taking cover behind a table as his heartrate speeds up. He takes slow, quiet breaths, listening closely. Next he hears soft footsteps. Jimin takes a deep breath before risking a peek, then his eyes widen when he sees Yoongi crouching, scanning around the room in amazement. "Yoongi," Jimin says in a hushed tone, which garners the man's attention. Jimin comes out from behind the table. Yoongi approaches, giving Jimin a weird look.

"What are you doing here? You were supposed to go straight," Jimin asks, and Yoongi shakes him off.

"It was a dead end. Only had a few more yards until there was an opening, so I jumped down and decided to look for clues. That's how I ended up here," he says, motioning to the large rectangular room.

"Well, I guess we should find out what this place is then." He stands with Yoongi, scanning over the area.

It looks exactly like a lab. There's some vials and tubes scattered around the tables. Some have liquid inside them, while others don't. There's several black tables littering the room. Most have papers organized and hologlobes sitting on them. The lights are dim, so whoever was here must be on a break. "Oh no..." Yoongi whispers, and Jimin perks up, watching the older man approach one table in particular.

"What is it?" Jimin asks, following him like a puppy.

He picks up one of the papers and scans over it, then he looks at the four tubes being held in place. Three of the four have liquid, one of them is missing its contents. "What are these?" Jimin asks, and Yoongi glances over at Jimin with a terror in his eyes that makes Jimin's pulse quicken.

"Enhancements."

"Enhancements?"

He nods. "They're like an injection. You take these liquids and they transform your body completely." He points to the first one. "Dark blue for strength." Then the next. "Yellow for intelligence." And the next. "Pink for seduction."

"Then what's the last one?" Jimin asks, and Yoongi sighs.

"The one Baekhyun was talking about. Normally it's red."

"So they used it on someone?"

Yoongi has a single tear roll down his cheek, and Jimin's perplexed to the core. His entire body seems to freeze. He's never seen Yoongi show much emotion, let alone cry. "W-What is it?" Jimin murmurs, although the panic and dread is evident in his tone. He slowly turns and locks eyes with Jimin, clutching the paper tightly. He turns it around, and Jimin sees a sketch of a man's body there. Jimin's own tears roll down his face at the sight. "Oh my God," he says, then trails off, throwing a hand over his mouth.

"They used it on Jungkook."

~20:50~

You've been crawling down this vent for a full two minutes now, but have found nothing important. Even in the openings, you've seen absolutely nothing. There's been some men on patrol, but nothing else. No rooms or anything substantial. So, you sigh and decide to keep going. You wonder if Yoongi and Jimin found anything yet. It's hard to know exactly what you're looking for, but you try nonetheless.

You pass over another panel that has slits in it and peek through it. Another hallway, although you just barely manage to see a door at the end of it. This isn't a normal door. It seems like it's sealed tight, there's even two guards standing outside. You stare for a few more seconds before faintly hearing voices, and you peek up, seeing that only a few yards away, there's a dead end.

Knowing there's no where else left to go, you crawl towards it, being careful not to make any noise. That's when you notice there's an opening. After more painful traveling, you approach the exit. It seems to be in the middle of a room. A large, circular room. It's all white, the lights dimmed, and after a few seconds of looking inside, screams are heard. You hop back and tremble. A woman's scream. She sounds like she's in pain, and it takes all your strength not to jump down and see what the disturbance is.

A few seconds pass, and the screaming abruptly stops. A loud 'thunk' is heard. You somehow manage to hold back your gasp. Did she just die? There's laughing now, and it makes your blood burn with fury. "Very good, very good! You never cease to amaze me, Jungkook." Your heart halts. Jungkook. He's here. You almost drop down, but decide to wait to hear more. You need as much information as possible. Going in blind isn't a good plan.

There's a few beats of silence. "What is it?" the same man who cheered asks.

"I smell something. Something strong, like fear," a low voice replies, and you grip your hands into fists.

"It might be my own. I must admit you terrify me. I have to go back to the bridge, I'd like to go back to Ganymede. Until then, kill anything that enters. I might send more test dummies while I'm away. I want to see the extent of your power."

"Yes sir," the low voice replies. Your figure shudders, your lower lip quivering as you wait for the door to open and close. After waiting about ten more seconds, you get your wish.

You peek your head down and see the full room. Your eyes pop open. The corners of the room are splattered with blood, a few bodies lying around. A tall man you instantly recognize as Jungkook stands near the top of the room, his back facing you. The room is empty. It must be some kind of test chamber. There's a few knives on the ground, probably to test something. Then it hits you. Jungkook killed those people. Your blood stops moving for a moment, but you also know him. He wouldn't murder innocent people. Even when you and the crew were under attack when you saw him again for the first time, he didn't kill anyone. Whatever he's doing he must be doing to stay alive.

You hesitate, then ultimately make your decision. You drop down, landing on the ground and resisting the urge to groan at the impact. Fortunately, you land on your feet, but that doesn't stop your whole body from throbbing at the action. "Jungkook!" you call out. The boy goes stiff, not yet facing you. "Jungkook, you're okay! We came back for you, we couldn't let you go. Come on, we need to go before they realize we're here." Your smile falters when he doesn't reply. He keeps standing there. You gulp down the lump in your throat. "Jungkook?" After a few moments, he turns around, and you feel all your breath leave your body. You step away until your back hits the wall, pure terror overtaking you.

His eyes and cheeks are red.

"J-Jungkook, what did they do to you?" you ask, but he doesn't seem to register your words. He cracks his neck, then, without warning, he attacks. He moves faster than you've ever seen him move before, and you just barely manage to duck as his fist hits the wall. You glance up in time for him to move his fist away, and there's a ginormous dent in the wall. Your mouth falls open, the fighting classes your father made you take starting to kick in.

You roll away as he tries another punch, and you hop up, standing in a defensive position. "Jungkook! Listen to me, this isn't you!" you say, but he again, he doesn't listen. He rushes forward and tries to kick. You block it with your arms, but the force from his leg is enough to send you stumbling back, your defense shattering. Not long ago, you said you didn't envy anyone who had to go up against Jungkook. Now you know how it feels, and you're beyond terrified.

With a huff, you keep backing up, but he closes the distance in the blink of an eye, throwing a punch. You manage to side step and approach the wall again, panting at the effort. He uses his super speed and grabs both of your arms unexpectedly. He throws your body against the wall, and all your air leaves your lungs. "Fuck!" you scream out as he slams your wrist against the surface, your comm breaking and falling off your wrist.

Jungkook holds you there, squeezing your wrists and glaring into your eyes. He grabs your pistol in a flash and throws it to the other side of the room, his other hand still keeping you in place. He also manages to grab your AR and squeezes the barrel, crushing it. His hand comes back to your wrist, and you wince in pain. His dark red eyes scare you, but you know that you have to at least try to fight back. You don't want to die, especially not now. And especially not to your best friend.

You knee him in the balls, but he barely even flinches. You stare at him with your vision blurred, then do it again, and again, and again. His grip finally weakens, and you rip one wrist free and punch him. He snaps his head back as soon as the blow hits, but you manage to rip your other wrist free just in time, ducking under his arms and dashing away. There's two knives not too far away from you on the ground. If you can reach one, you can at least try to stab his leg or arm to slow him down. You can't kill him though, you know you can't. You turn around to face him in time to feel him punch you in the face.

You let out a yell of pain as your body hits the ground face first, you temporarily seeing stars. You peer up, your head pounding, and you see the closest knife. Despite the pain echoing up and down your body, you manage to squirm forward. You can hear Jungkook approaching you, toying with you as you approach the knife. You grab it and swing back. He has his hand outstretched, about to grab you, but you slash out and cut through his skin.

The knife leaves a long, deep wound on his palm and he flinches, backing his hand away. You inch back and manage to get back on your feet, your vision still fading in and out. You pant, shaking your head as he approaches again. If he lands another punch, you're done for. You narrow your eyes. Time seems to slow down. You really don't want to die. Jimin's face flashes in your mind, and you feel wrath boiling up inside your veins. They can't take you from Jimin, exactly like how they can't take Jungkook from you. Whatever they did to Jungkook, you're going to undo it. You have to. You love him.

You go on the offensive, which surprises him. He brings his arm up and blocks your knife strike, your blade cutting through his skin. Not as deep as before, but enough to draw a lot of blood. With a grunt, you go to strike up towards his cheek, but his good hand catches your elbow. You drop the knife and grab it with your free hand, planning to land an uppercut with the blade, but his other hand moves faster than ever before and grabs your hand in the process. He lets go of your free hand and easily disarms you, grabbing the knife and pinning you up against the wall. He has his elbow against your chest, and he brings his other hand up and presses the knife against your throat. Your hands grip his arm, choking and feeling tears sting at your eyes. This is it. This is where you die. "Bunny wait," you whisper.

This seems to get his attention. His red eyes glare into yours, and you feel all your breath leave your body. "Hey, hey. It's me Kook, it's me. I know you're in there somewhere. No one can get rid of your passion and emotion... no one can get rid of you," you softly say. He doesn't react, he only stares, keeping the knife against your throat. "You once told me that you'd rather die than live without passion. I know you. You beat yourself up over the tiniest mistake, you hide in the corner when a microwave is in use, you always care about others, even if it means you can't care about yourself," you whisper. His grip tightens on the knife. He presses it deeper into your skin. You gasp, feeling blood start to trickle down your neck.

"I know you're still in there!" you shout. "You're the same guy I kissed in the planetarium when you promised to take me to Earth, you're the same guy who carried a caterpillar all the way across the road just to get him to safety, you're the same guy who lights up whenever a competition is around." Jungkook seems to hesitate, processing your words. He glances down, breathing heavily. "Jungkook, look at me." He pauses, then begins to look up. You give him a smile. "I love you." His pupils dilate, scanning over your eyes. You keep your expression. "I'll always love you, Jeon Jungkook. Always. No matter what." He doesn't know how to react, he seems almost... lost. "This isn't you. It will never be you, but if you need to kill me, that's okay. You do what you need to do. I'm just glad we found each other again. Became best friends again. If you have to kill me: that's alright. Jungkook, no matter what you do, I'll always forgive you."

You break off, choking up and sniffling. Despite your tears, you give him a warm grin. The warmest smile you can possibly manage. Jungkook blinks, dazed, and his grip loosens on you. He blinks a few more times as if waking up from a dream, and the red glow of his eyes and cheeks progressively become more blue. The man steps back, and you gasp, holding your throat and coughing. There's a small amount of blood there, but nothing fatal. You peer up as his eyes turn back to brown, his cheeks returning to normal.

His eyes widen upon seeing you, and tears roll down his cheeks. "Y/N?" You feel yourself struggling to breathe, but you still let out a relieved laugh, smiling brightly.

"Jungkook?" you ask, your voice cracking.

"You brought me back," he whispers. "You brought me back." In a blink, he drops the knife and steps towards you. You meet him halfway, using all your strength to jump into his arms. You shamelessly sob, wrapping your arms and legs around him. He squeezes you back, and you close your eyes, bringing one hand to the back of his head and letting your fingers get tangled in his long locks.

You pull back, still being held up by Jungkook, your body wrapped tightly around his torso. "I love you too," he whispers. You let out a breath of relief, leaning forward and letting your forehead rest against his. "You came back for me," he says in a higher tone than usual.

"I told you I can't lose you, I wasn't lying," you reply, closing your eyes in-sync with him.

After a few seconds of silence, the door to the lab snaps. Jungkook drops you. You manage to land on your feet, looking up in time to see a doctor walk in. You grab the knife off the ground before he sees, and you shove it in your chestplate, peeking around and locating another knife on the ground you can use if he attacks. "There's been a change in course, we're on our way to Ganymede, we're using our boosters, so we should be on the surface in half an hour..." He trails off when he sees you standing there.

He backs up as Jackson enters the room. "I figured we had visitors. The question is, who came with you?" Jackson asks, his hands folded behind his back.

You shake your head. "I'll never tell you."

"Yes, you will."

"Or what?"

The man clicks his tongue. "Jungkook?" The Executive looks up at him. "Kill her." You grunt as he shifts to face you, his enhancements commencing their glow.

They burn bright blue, a hint of red in them as well. You glance over at Jackson, who stares with his mouth agape. "What the hell?" you hear him whisper. Jungkook winks at you, then in the blink of an eye, he whips around and dashes towards Jackson. He however, expected this. He pulls out what looks to be a stun gun and uses it as soon as Jungkook enters his range. Jungkook yelps and falls to the ground, unconscious.

You pant, still weak from Jungkook's punch. You locate the knife you found and lean down, grabbing it. "Resisting is useless, I have a scientist right behind me. You really think you can fight off two of us?" Jackson asks.

With a huff, you spit blood out on the ground and brush him off. "I can fight off five of you," you reply, squeezing the knife until your skin becomes clammy.

"Tell me, how did your fight with Jungkook go?"

"You saw his eyes, figure it out."

"Fair, but you have a rather-large bruise on your cheek. Can you see straight?" he asks, approaching you with the stun gun in his hand. His fellow scientist is behind him, pulling out a stun gun of his own.

"I don't need to see straight to kill you."

"Bold, but stupid. You really think you can win against a trained fighter and another enhanced?" Your hands tremble, stepping back as his eyes begin to glow a dark green. He zips forward, and you side step, but due to your hazy vision, you stumble and struggle to get your balance back. The other scientist comes at you, but you hop back and grab his outstretched arm with your free hand, bringing the knife into his chest. While you stab him, Jackson zips forward again. You land a kick on his leg, but he doesn't feel it. This shocks you enough to distract you. He presses the gun up against your stomach.

You gasp, and within an instant, darkness overtakes you.

Jimin paces around the room, listening to Yoongi gathering some papers and shoving them inside his chestplate. Jimin's breathing heavily at the idea of losing his brother. If they already used that serum on him, then it's only a matter of time before he hunts them down. If what Baekhyun said is true, then no one can bring Jungkook back. Maybe doctors from Kepler, but... yeah...

Jimin stops pacing, deciding to instead sigh and tell Y/N the news. She needs to know. He presses on his comm. "Five minute check in. You okay? Yoongi and I met up, we have something to tell you," he says, waiting for a few seconds. He furrows his brows. It's only been five to six minutes since they last spoke. Surely she didn't run into trouble already, right? He clears his throat, refusing to panic. "Y/N? You okay?" he asks again, then waits about ten more seconds before finally giving in and panicking. "Y/N?"

His heartbeat speeds up, his breathing getting short and shallow. He runs a hand through his hair, shaking his body and refusing to believe she's in trouble. "No, she's okay, she has to be," he whispers, looking up in time to see Yoongi shoving one last paper inside his chestplate, then strapping it tighter so nothing falls out.

"We need to go, we've been in here too long," Yoongi says.

Jimin shortly nods, not really paying attention. "We need to find Y/N."

"Alright."

Jimin trembles, his entire mind filling with horrible thoughts. "Oh God..." he whispers, a tear rolling down his cheek.

"Hey, Jimin," Yoongi says. He locks eyes with the older man. "We will, okay? We will." He slowly agrees, beginning to believe him. But only beginning to. "Now come on, over this way. I found a blueprint and I'm keeping it on me, there's a floorboard entrance in here."

Jimin follows Yoongi as he guides him to the corner of the room, pressing on a squeaky panel and motioning to Jimin. He gulps, then kneels and brings out his screwdriver, quickly undoing the screws and placing them in his pocket. Yoongi removes the panel right after he's done. Jimin hops in, moving forward enough so Yoongi can drop down behind him and place the panel back on. They crawl forward, managing to dodge all the wires and dangling little lanterns lighting their path. Jimin leads the way, heading down the right section and going down as far as he can.

"How do we know when to get out?" Yoongi asks.

"We don't, we have to guess," he says in response. He pauses, pressing his comm again. "Y/N come in, are you out there, can you hear me?" After a few seconds, he still gets no response.

"She's the most determined person I know Jimin. She'll make it," Yoongi says in a mutter. Jimin agrees, although he's starting to lose hope. Regardless, he goes forward again, listening for any footsteps above him. He hears some, but decides to keep going. Eventually the footsteps echo away as Jimin reaches the end of the corridor, causing him to sigh and look up, pressing on the panel. It's weak: it can probably slide right open.

"Ready?" Yoongi asks.

"Not in the slightest." Despite his words, Jimin taps against the panel and realizes it's already open. He pops it up and slides it to the left, then grabs the floor and boosts his head up, peeking into the room. His eyes widen. It's a circular room, empty of any living people. Key word there is living. There's a lot of blood and bodies scattered around the room. Jimin gulps before hopping up and into the room, standing up and scanning over the area.

He keeps scanning as Yoongi hops up beside him. His eyes look over the walls, then the floor, and his heart stops. Jimin's breath gets caught in his throat, and he rushes forward. Yoongi hesitates, but eventually follows as Jimin kneels on the floor. He brings a shaky hand to the ground and picks up Y/N's broken comm, blood covering the device. "Oh my God," he whispers, dropping it once he sees exactly what it is.

Jimin can't stop his tears from falling now, especially when he sees the fresh blood littering the ground and the dent in the wall. "Y/N," he whispers, placing a hand over his mouth. His other knee falls to the ground, and he places his free hand on the floor and sobs, nausea creeping up his spine. Yoongi doesn't speak, he only kneels next to Jimin and places his hand on his back. "This isn't happening, this can't be happening," he says, his heart nearly breaking in half.

"I looked over the bodies: none of them are hers, Jimin. She could still be alive."

"Even if she is, what are the odds that she still has all her body parts, huh? Or that she isn't made into whatever Jungkook is!"

Yoongi sighs, deciding not to answer. The realization hits Jimin in full force, and he cries harder than he ever has before. He has no idea where Jungkook is, and it's likely he's an emotionless monster. Not only that, but the girl he loves is dead. He breaks at the thought, biting back a scream since he knows they still need to be quiet. Jimin wants to scream so badly. He wants to scream and scream until his lungs burn. As if the thought of losing Y/N didn't hurt enough, but now that it's actually happening...

"I can't lose her Yoons, I can't," he whispers, gazing back at the boy, his vision blurred from his tears.

Yoongi sighs. "We'll find her."

"She can't be dead, she can't be."

"Min," Yoongi whispers, and the Captain clutches whatever air he can get his hands on. Jimin bites his lip, glancing down at the comm one more time before speaking.

"I love her."
