The morning of October 5th is bright and crisp. Today is the day I go to see my mom! I can't wait to see her. My bags were packed a week ago and my eyes have been on the weather in Boston. It is supposed to be cold but sunny!

I can't wait to get coffee with her and Lacie, to go shopping and and to sit and watch movies. I can't wait for New York and my Aunt. This trip is making me like a little girl.

I quickly get out of bed and take a shower. I will be on a 10 hour flight and in coach this time since mom paid for the ticket. I want to smell okay for those sitting next to me.

I pull on my Tom Petty t-shirt, a pair of my black workout sweatpants, and my black converse. I leave my hair down and I'm ready to go!

"Kara you ready?" Dad calls from the kitchen.
"Yeah! Just let me get a granola bar." I call back heading to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

When I come into the kithen Laura hands me my granola bar and $20.
"Use the money for food and drink on the plane." She tells me.
"Your bags are in the car." Dad tells me as he drinks his coffee.

I feel like they are a little excited for me to leave so they can have some time alone. I don't mind though, because Laura is just now becoming a mother she isn't used to having a teen or chuod around. Time is like a healer of all wounds. I've been around dad for three months now and I feel like I've forgiven him. It has been hard to come to terms with my feelings toward him.

I snap out of thought as dad says,
"Kara we can get coffee on the way to the airport."
"Okay." I say as we head to the door.

    When we get to the Airport Kade is there. He is so sweet, he wanted to say goodbye! I blush as dad gives him 'the look' and turns to go buy my coffee. He knows my order by heart. After every workout he gets me a coffee and we've been doing it for about a month!

     "Hey!" Kade says as he gives me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Since our first kiss we haven't really kissed. We've been on one date and it was pretty awkward.
     "Hey how are ya?" I ask.
     "Well I'm going to miss you." He sighs.
     "It's only gonna be a week!" I say as he sighs again.

    We sit and talk for a while more and then dad returns with my coffee.
     "Kade its time for Kara's flight."
     "Okay, bye Kara!" He says as we hug and then I turn to dad.
     "Ready!" I say and we head to the runway.

    My life has turned out okay for now. Kade makes me happy and dad has proved he was sorry.
     "Okay, I love you! Have fun and tell your mom I said Hi!"
     "Okay, I love you too! Call me." I say hurriedly as my flight is being called.

    I arrive in Boston at midnight and mom is no where to be seen. I call an Uber and arrive at the house at 1:30 am. A little mad I pull out the key I have and open the door. She is on the couch and has a man on top of her.
     "Mom!" I scream and the man rolls off her.
     "Kara??" Shs asks.
     "Yes i just got in!" I say and then turn to the man.
     "Who are you?"

    My mom blushes and turns to him.
     "Honey this is Matt..... He's my boyfriend."
     "I'm sure he can talk for himself."
     "Well Kara I'm Matt. Me and your mom are dating... Do you have a problem with that?" He asks me.

    I shake my head and turn to my room. I'm too tired to deal with this now. So I go in my room and make my bed. The room feels good..... Turning out my light I flop into bed falling immediately into sleep.

    In the morning I wake to my phone ringing. It is dad and he sounds mad when I answer.
     "Kara!" Is the first thing he says.
     "Ummmm hey?" I question.
     "Why didn't you call last night?"
     "Well mom wasn't at the airport to get me so I called an Uber and came to the house. I came into her and some strange man named Matt she claimed to be her boyfriend making out. I guess I was in shock and tired so I forgot. I'm sorry!" I say quickly.
     "Your mom wanted to surprise you about him...." He says a little chuckle escaping.

    I roll my eyes at this and just say,
     "Well dad I'm safe and home.. I love you but I want to eat and see Lacie!" I say quicly into the phone and he sighs.
     "Bye see you when you get back."
     "Bye!" I chip and hang up rushing to the shower. The water feels great and pulls me to thoughts of Kade.

    He looks so great in flannels. His jeans always fit him in the right ways. His smile gives me the shivers. I sigh because I miss him already.

    Once I'm out of the shower I do my makeup and dry my hair. I pull on a flannel and black jeans with holes in the knees. Then pulling out my hair curler I take my time curling the strands in tight ringlets. I feel pretty good today!

    My converse and maroom leather jacket complete the look. When I get down into the kitchen mom has eggs and peppers frying on the stove along with toast and apples laid out on the table.
     "Hey Mom! Good morning!" I say as I rush to give her a hug. She pulls me tight and whispers,
     "Hey honey... I missed you so much." She pulls away and wipes the tears that accidently came out away. I have some of my own that I dab away and start to make coffee.

     "So about this Matt?" I ask and she blushes. A thousand emotions cross her face at once.
     "Ummm we're dating..." She whispers again.
     "Well tell me about him?" I urge her.
      "We met at the cafe down the street. He's really sweet and is a journalist. He writes for the Boston Gazette. We went on our first date a little over three weeks ago. We've been seeing each other steadily since then." She quips as we spoon eggs and peppers on our plates.

    I smile at her as I head to my seat. We eat in peaceful silence until she asks me,
     "So this Kade?" Now its my turn to blush.
     "We like each other and he sort of protects me from Travis."
     "And how is Travis?"
     "He is still a pain in the hind end but its working out okay."
     "Are you and Kade dating?" She asks.
     "No we just like each other. I can't date right now."

    We then just sigh sadly because she knows why I can't date. Since dad left I have trust issues with myself and boys. Of course Kade doesn't know this and I will not tell him.
     "Okay, do you want me to take you to Lacie's?"
     "Ya!" I squeal as I pull out my phone to text Lacie's mom. I'm going to surprise her and show up while she is still asleep!

    I get to her room some 25 minutes later. She is sound asleep. I stare and then scream so loud. She bolts upright screaming herself. Then she sees me and jumps out ouf bed throwing herself at me.
     "KARA!!!!!" She squeals as we jump around in a tight hug.
     "Hey!" I say as she pulls away.
     "When did you get in?" She asks me somewhat calmer now.
     "Late last night." I say as she heads to her shower.
     "I'll be a few and then we can go to the mall or somwhere."

    An hour later we are pulling out of her driveway with her mom in the driver seat and mine in the passenger seat.
     "Kara got Lacie good this morning." Mrs. Freeman says as Lacie laughs. Its true. Lacie is so easy to scare. 

    We head down the strips jamming to some old funky hippie music that Lacie's mom loves. When we pull into the movies I see the movie that is playing is Mamamia 2. I saw the first one when I was little and it is hilarious. We head inside to me and Lacie bumping hips and poking eachother.

    The movie was good and me and Lacie are headed to the mall across the street. There is a Lazer Craze we want to play while our mom's shop.

    Later that night I lay in bed texting Kade as he eats his dinner in bed. As soon as I left he got sick with the flu.
Me: Hey!
Him: Hey what's up?
Me: I'm in bed but today I went to the movies and Lazer Craze with Lacie.
Him: Did she ask about us?
Me: Nope we really didn't talk much. We really just joked around, glad to see each other.... But mom did. 😖😏
Him: Well is she happy?
Me: She seemed to be???
Him: Okay well I need to get some sleep. Night😘
Me: Night miss you! 😍

    When we are done talking I out my phone on the charger and head to the shower. My shower here is so much better than the one in Texas. I actually have a seat to sit on.

    When I'm done with my shower i head to bed setting an alarm for early in the morning. We are going to New York and Lacie is coming with us along with Mathew. I am excited.
