Chapter 3:
When Amy finally opened her eyes she instantly regretted it as the world was spinning so fast it was impossible to know what was happening. She felt cold air tickling behind her ears. Finally, she could see trees.
Though her vision was getting clearer and clearer, she was also getting closer to the ground. Down, down she went. She landed with a umph. Her landing wasn't peaceful and she began to feel the cold dirt surrounding her skin. But luckily she didn't feel like anything was broken. I must have fallen at least 100 feet, thought Amy, amused as she leaned on a nearby tree to support her weight.
As she shakily stood up, she caught a glimpse of her shoe and then realized she was wearing boots. Boots? I was wearing tennis shoes. And then it hit her they were all going to look like the characters in the game. "How could I forget?!" shouted Amy, angry at herself as she touched her head to see if her hair was there and luckily it was.
But it definitely wasn't her hair. There were no more wavy, short, thick brown locks. It was sleek, shiny, and... blonde? At least I didn't turn into a boy... She thought.
She also admired her outfit because she was wearing a long sleeved base T-shirt that matched her baggy tan shorts with a gold necklace to top it off. The necklace was kind of a weird accessory to put on with her outfit, but she shrugged it off. She was so busy admiring herself that she soon realized that she was alone.
"They couldn't have landed that far." Amy told herself as she searched for Sophie and her friends. After walking for a couple minutes she gave up and yelled "Sophie?" Silence was the only answer. "Keefe, Fitz, Biana?" As soon as she said the names three figures slammed on the ground. But of course she couldn't figure out who they were because they looked way different. Amy was filled with relief, but it soon faded away as she remembered there were supposed to be four elves, not three.
But the thought went quickly out of her mind as a female voice asked "Is everyone alright? Ahh who are you"? The girl asked, as she looked around at them.
"Amy."
"You're not Amy."
"Yes I am. Remember I told you we are going to look way different?" Answered Amy.
"Wait- what-" the female touched her head and pulled out a tiny glass mirror that was somehow in her boot and she shrieked. "AHHHHHHHHHHHH, GET ME OUT OF HERE!!! Where- what- how- no- ahhhhhhh! WHY ARE MY POWERS NOT WORKING AND WHY DO I LOOK LIKE THIS?"
"Calm down," Amy warned her, " Who knows what's in this jungle."
"How am I supposed to calm down? Look at me." The girl cried as she fell to her knees and little teardrops slid down her cheeks.
She had raven black hair up in a not-so-pretty messy bun with a brown hat. She looked like she used to be a cowgirl. She took the hat off and shred it to a million pieces.
"Are you Keefe?" Asked Amy, since she knew Keefe had a big thing for his hair.
" I really look that bad?" asked the female voice, sniffing.
"Hey I can hear you!" Called a voice from under the tree where Amy just left from.
Amy ignored him. "So who are you then?" She tried again.
"I'm-I'm Biana..."
Amy had to choke down a laugher.
No wonder she looked so petrified; she was probably used to being one of the most wealthy and beautiful elves. But now, she was just... Biana. Nothing special about her. No natural beauty and no powers. And maybe Amy was supposed to feel sad or guilty for her but she felt something else. She felt a little satisfaction.
"Did you forget about us?" Called the other two people whom she assumed was Keefe and Fitz.
" Let's get this over with. Who is Keefe and who is Fitz?" Asked Amy, impatient as the boys admired themselves.
"I'm Fitz." said the tan boy with rosy, pink cheeks and brownie colored haired.
"No I'm Fitz.'' Said the other boy who had jet black hair and was much smaller and looked more like he was about to go to prom.
Ugh. This can't get any worse. Biana was crying, Fitz and Keefe were having an argument over who was actually Fitz, and Sophie was... Wait. Amy suddenly remembered Sophie wasn't with them. "Oh great," She mumbled, "And now Sophie was nowhere to be found." How could it possibly get any worse, she thought as she sat on a tree stump.
A few minutes past and the boys got quieter, and Biana seemed to be dabbing at her eyes with her pants. And then a super loud pitch noise erupted. It ringed in Amy's ears. She couldn't escape it. "What in the history of mallowmelt was that?" Asked the boy who declared he was Fitz first.
Before anyone could answer, a whoosh of wind came tumbling through them. "Yep, that's differently Sophie." Chuckled what Amy assumed was Keefe. But Amy couldn't see how Keefe could laugh right now at this serious moment.
But Keefe was right because before you could say "empath", Sophie landed right on Keefe (or who Amy assumed was Keefe). Sophie had ember green eyes and reddish hair. (Amy was surprised that no one had any weapons.) Fitz gasped while Amy laughed, because Sophie was face-to-face with Keefe. Then, Keefe did that weird thing where they stared into each other's eyes and their cheeks looked like tomatoes. But it didn't last for long.
"Who are you?" Asked Sophie.
"Are you okay?" Asked Keefe instead of answering her question.
"Yeah I'm fine." Said Sophie as she broke contact with Keefe.
"Are you Keefe?" She asked.
"Finally, someone who has some sense. Yes I'm Keefe." He declared. So Amy's conclusion was right that the boy wearing the fancy suit was actually Keefe.
"Okay, get up you two lovebirds." Said Amy, which only made Sophie's cheeks get redder.
"Anyways. What do we do now?" Asked Sophie, as she was obviously hoping for a new subject change. All heads turned to Amy.
Now it was Amy's turn to blush "I- I don't know." Amy admitted as she started down at her shoes. As soon as the words tumbled out her mouth, a voice rang out that made the whole group turn around, including Biana.
"Welcome to Jumamji! I am Nigel Billingsley. But feel free to call me Nigel. Just Nigel."
"Okay, Nigel..." Said Sophie alarmed.
"Come on in the helicopter." He said as he started to pace.
"The helicopter?" Asked Fitz.
There was no helicopter that they could see.
"Yes, yes. Now you don't want to miss your ride, do you now?"
" I think this guy is mad." Whispered Biana, finally speaking ever since Sophie landed on top of Keefe.
"Yeah, I agree with Biana. I think we should just go the opposite way." Whispered Fitz in a not-so-quiet voice.
They turned to go as Nigel kept on repeating himself to hop in the helicopter.
Or he would say "Don't be scared."
But the friends looked back again and, surprisingly, there was a helicopter there.
"But how did he do that?" Asked Sophie.
"I don't know but we better go in before it vanishes." Replied Amy.
And so they did just that.
