I never thought
That when I came here I would meet any mortals.
I still don't believe it.
But I swallow that disbelief.

And when I feel the resulting lump in my throat trying to burst back through
I swallow that too.

Dear friends, dear readers, and dear departed
You are immortal to me.

But I know the truth and I dare not speak it

I will not be immortal forever
