Which Pokémon would they have #2- Eli

I'm back! And the winner of the last riddle was @chaosgod11 again! So it's no surprise that he wanted his MN9 OC Elitra aka Eli as the character in the spotlight again! This time, I'll take a look at Eli's personality and character to determine which Pokémon out of the over 800 of them the little robot boi would have. And he asked for the whole package, so this might be a long read. I'll try to keep this segment as short as possible while also sticking with the usual elements of this segment.

Now, I'm likely writing all of this while I'm with my grandparents, so I don't have any Internet to look into the Galar Pokémon, at least until late into writing this if I get to include the Galar Pokémon at all. Just letting ya'll know since , for the rest of these Pokémon, I'm baseing this off an essential handbook for Pokémon, as well as some other places I happen to pick up Poké facts. Just throwing that out there.

As per usual with these segments, these choices in Pokémon will be of my personal opinion, tho I try to stick as close as logical reasoning as possible. You're welcome to disagree with me all you want, but it's much appreciated if you think I made accurate choices.

Let's go ahead and jump right in! And where else to start then...?

The Starter

When I asked @chaosgod11 if Eli would look for anything in particular in a Pokémon and he said the words "cute and cuddly", I immediately thought of the Fire starter Pokémon, Torchic. Not only is it a cute starter that evolves into a strong and popular Pokémon, but Torchic is also known as the ideal cuddling buddy due to its warm temperature and soft feathers! I could totally see Eli hugging a little Torchic like a teddy bear, so to me this would be perfect for the friendly robot.

Another starter that would be a good pick for Eli would be the entirety of the Chikorita evolutionary line. Not only are they a simple yet cute Pokémon, but all three of the Chikorita line are said to be able to release some kind of aroma that can calm others down and possibly end a fight. Though this might not impact a robot much, it's the thought that counts right?

Yet another starter for Eli is another Grass type starter evolutionary line; the Chespin line to be exact. The whole idea of the Chespin line is that of being protected from attacks. Quilladin, the middle evolution of Chespin, is said to have a gentle nature and hates confrontation, while Chesnaught, the final evolution of Chespin, uses its own body to defend its friends. If Torchic isn't the one for Eli, Chespin and its whole evolutionary line would be the one instead.

Those three starters are my top choices for someone like Eli. Now let's move on to another part of the Pokémon species...

The Legendary

Now, to be frank, not many of the Legendary Pokémon seem to align with Eli in terms of personality or powers or really any of it. According to @chaosgod11, Eli would lean towards ideals since he really doesn't know the truth most of the time, so perhaps Zekrom would work best here. After all, the electric black dragon is said to go out of its way to help those who seek their ideals, and Eli would be more then happy to help anyone in need of him.

By association one would think Kyurem would be aligned with Eli as well since it is both truths and ideals and yet not either of those two, but that isn't the case as I see it. I may have only seen the Keldeo movie once but it's no surprise why the water horse Pokémon saw Kyurem as evil, given that Kyurem spoke and lumbered about like a centuries old dragon with few cares in the world and would rather sit alone. Also, when Kyurem's name is slpit apart and seen by the Japanese kanji that makes it's name, the kanji interpret Kyurem to literally be "nothing" like that in Yin and Yang, similar to how Reshiram represents Yang and Zekrom represents Yin. So no, Kyurem wouldn't be any good for Eli. However, thinking of Kyurem's association with Yin and Yang made me think of Zekrom's Yin, and Yin actually fits Eli well. I won't say too much about Eli here since I don't want to spoil you on what happens in @chaosgod11's MN9 fan-fic, but Eli could lean towards Yin due to the negative reasons why he was built in the first place. Also, according to one of my books, people who falls under Yin tend to have traits such as a smiling face, are responsive, and are nonmaterialistic, which fits Eli quite well (most of Eli's other traits fall under Yang, however, but this in itself could show Yin and Yang since both are complimentary to the other). So, in a way, Kyurem isn't a meaningless dragon. Just... not the one for Eli. Nor is any other Legendary Pokémon that I could find, but this may change when the expansion pass for Sword and Shield are fully released.

In short, Zekrom seems to be the only Legendary that I could find that would be aligned with Elitra.

Now we move on to the even more elusive species of Pokémon...

The Mythical

Now right off the bat, obviously Arceus shouldn't be considered. I mean it's THE Pokémon God for crying out loud. Besides, Joshua already called dibs on it. 😞

Celebi might pose a good Mythical. Cute, cuddly, and it seeks a bright future. Not a bad choice for Eli.

Another might be Jirachi, the Wish Pokémon. It's pretty cute, and all it wants is a nap in between granting wishes every few thousand years. Why not Jirachi? XD

Keldeo might make a good Mythical for Eli as well. Keldeo, if the Pokémon movie based around him and Kyurem hold any truth, is a playful yet determined Pokémon that will fight with resolve. Eli is similar to this as he too is a determined fighter and yet playful when not in a fight.

Another would be Magearna, the mechanical marvel of Pokémon. She's a fully functional creature of metal in a world filled with organic beings, and she's not without good looks in terms of cuteness. Perhaps she'd make a good Mythical for Eli too?

Manaphy the Seafaring Pokémon could be a potential Mythical for Eli as well. It is said to be able to develop close bonds with any Pokémon no matter their kind. Same could be said for Eli too, with his curious and friendly disposition.

Honestly if being cute and cuddly is going to be the main reason for Eli having any of these Mythicals, let's throw Marshadow in too. As you guys might know, I hold Marshadow as being one of the most adoraboo Pokémon ever, so why not?

In all seriousness, if any Mythical is going to be picked for Eli for more then just cuteness, then let's have Mew be that Mythical. In an earlier installment of this particular segment, I said Mew might work for Ray as a good pick due to their similar ability to contain the entirety of DNA (or in Ray's case, Xels) in their bodies. Same could be said for Eli, who has Beck, Ray, and Trinity's ability to absorb and manipulate Xels freely. And Mew as the "cute and cuddly" thing going for it as well, so that's a plus.

So maybe with the addition of a couple of other Mythicals just for cuteness, these lot are the only ones I can find that might work for Eli. Personally I think Mew would be the best choice in terms of similarities, but it's on you to decide if you agree or not.

Ultra Beasts

Moving on, really none of the Ultra Beasts would work for Eli. They're all either too violent, too dangerous just to be around, or too not-pure to suit Eli. Maybe Xurkitree would be the closest since it's too lazy to do too much harm and, when we visit it's world in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, we can see little bby Xurkitrees running about playfully, which tells me they're not as violent as the other Ultra Beasts can be as long as they're not provoked.

Everything else in between

So before this segment gets too long, let's take a look at all the other Pokémon that aren't Starters, Legendary, Mythical, or Ultra Beasts to see if Eli would have a full team behind him.

-Pichu, the Tiny Mouse Pokémon

After playing Smash Ultimate, I was reminded of Pichu and its adorable-ness. Its own dex entries often acknowledge its cuteness, and much like Eli it doesn't know how to fully control its powers.

-Beautifly, the Butterfly Pokémon

Beautifly is a cute bug Pokémon, and arguably the cutest of the Butterfly Pokémon at that. All one has to do to attract one is to plant flowers near your home, so it wouldn't take much to catch one of these little critters.

-Buneary, the Rabbit Pokémon

Buneary is described as being a "cute and cuddly" Pokémon (which it is), and it is surprisingly strong despite its little stature. This translates well into what makes Eli character: a nice but surprisingly deadly fellow.

-Delibird, the Delivery Pokémon

Not only is Delibird fairly cute, it is well known for sharing its food and supplies with others, Pokémon and humans alike. It is said that one Delibird once helped a climber climb one of the tallest mountains! This kindness to others is something Eli would definitely appreciate.

-Dragonite, the Dragon Pokémon (no duh, it literally has "dragon" in its name)

Dragonite are some of the friendliest Pokémon around. Not only was one Dragonite said to rescue a man at sea and took him to a hidden Dragonite paradise, but one Dragonite even delivered Mewtwo's invitation to trainers all-around! Dragonite are slow to anger but have devastating strength, not unlike Eli when he gets mad enough.

-Drampa, the Placid Pokémon

Even though Drampa can be violent at times, it is world renowned for its unprecedented affection to and for children. Even wild Drampa go out of their way to come down their mountain and visit their child friends and is more then willing to defend them from bullies. Eli would not only want to snuggle in this things fur, but he could use an extra hand against bullies from time to time.

-Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon

Eevee is known to be extremely adaptive to nearly every and any environment known thanks to its many evolutionary forms, and Eli's Xel Absorption abilities allow him to be just as adaptive. Need I say more?

-Flabébé, the Single Bloom Pokémon

Do I really need to explain to you why Flabébé would be a good pick other then saying "it's a smol bby bean with flower power"?

Let's end it here before this gets too long and extensive. Given these few examples, Eli's team of Pokémon would likely be a mostly support-based and specialized one with a few hard hitters. I couldn't find any Mega Evolution Pokémon that might work for Eli, so I guess he might have to go with Lopunny's Mega Evolution should his Buneary evolve. After all, Lopunny is sometimes called the Caring Pokémon and it isn't a fan of fighting, much like Eli himself.

---

So that's my evaluation of Eli concerning which Pokémon he might have or be aligned with. Hope you enjoyed it, I sure did! Sorry for not including the Galar Pokémon at all, I didn't have access to the Internet in ages since my dad came down with a flu and we have no wifi network or anything at home 😣. We're doing well though I assure you all, otherwise I might've never published this page to you. I sure hope you all are doing your part in this pandemic plaguing us this year.

Again, Eli here belongs to chaosgod11 and you can find his MN9 fic in my reading list if you're interested. Until next time, to all a helping of good health and good times ahead. Cheers. 🐉

P.S. Here's a link to that vid on Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem's inspiration in not only Yin-Yang but also in alchemy too. You're welcome.
