A Night of Fun

Just a cute little one-shot idea I found on Pinterest, hope you enjoy.

Sirius moved in with the Potter as soon as Harry was born. Sirius always said to Lily and James that it was a blessing that he lived with them, but all Lily thought of was how he would disturb her son's naps, make huge messes and not clean them up and he would distract James from helping her with housework or Harry.

The only thing Lily says Sirius is good for is whenever James and Lily want to go out they can because they have a baby sitter living in there house, but deep down Lily enjoys Sirius being there.

Sirius loved that he was near his godson, he would always make sure he was happy, or that had was always entertained. Sirius even help with feeding, changing and dressing Harry, which surprised Lily and James.

Sirius loved to teach Harry about absolutely everything either it animal, number or just names. Lily found this the most adorable thing ever.

Except for one night, Lily asked James to put Harry to be which he did, but when Lily went to check on her son before going to bed, Harry's bed was empty and he was nowhere to be seen.

"James!" Lily yelled as a started James Potter joined his wife in his son bedroom.

"Yes dear," James said, glancing at Lily.

All Lily did was point at her son's bed "where is Harry? I asked you to put him to bed twenty minutes ago James" she said, gradually getting more and more nervous.

"I did put him to bed Lily," James said before looking around Harry's room searching for him.

James and Lily started searching the whole house for their son, he couldn't have gotten far because he can't walk was the though going around both of their heads.

Harry didn't get far though, because he was on the roof of Godric Hollow with Sirius learning about the stars and the different constellations.

Sirius pointed to a cluster of stars "that one is called Apus, Apus means no feet in Greek, referring to a western misconception of a bird-of-paradise as one not having feet". Sirius said as Harry snuggled closer to his godfather.

"That one" Sirius said before pointing up " is called the Lupis constellation or the wolf, this one is a very old constellation Harry, but it wasn't always associated with a wolf well not until the 14th to 17th century. The Greeks called the constellation Therium, which means wild animal, and the Romans knew it as Bestia, the beast. The stars of Lupus used to be part of Centaurus constellation, and they represented an animal sacrificed by the centaur". Sirius said before smiling down at his godson.

Sirius pointed to another one " and that one is called Cassiopeia and it represents the boastful queen Cassiopeia, she was the mother of Andromeda and wife of Cepheus in Greek mythology. Cassiopeia claimed that she was more beautiful than Nereids the sea nymph, so Nereids asked the sea god Poseidon to punish the queen for her vanity. Poseidon sent Nereids to Cetus the sea monster to ravage Cassiopeia's land, but King Cepheus asked an oracle for help and was told that he had to sacrifice his daughter Andromeda to appease Poseidon. Cassiopeia and Cepheus left Andromeda chained to a rock, but Andromeda was saved from the monster by Perseus. Cassiopeia and Cepheus were placed into the sky by Poseidon. It is said that Cassiopeia spends six months every year upside down in the sky as punishment for her boastfulness". Sirus said before looking back down at his godson, who looked to enjoy the story.

Sirius continued to tell harry all different story about the constellation, meanwhile inside the Potter house, Lily and James were still searching for their son who they thought was missing.

"James he couldn't have gotten far, he can't walk without holding on to something," Lily said, as she sat on the couch with her head in her hands.

"Don't worry we will find him Lily" James said, before putting a finger under Lily chin and lifting her face so he could kiss her forehead, before going back upstairs to look for Harry.

On the roof with Harry and Sirius, it started getting cold, so Sirius took his leather jacket off and wrapped Harry in it to keep him warm.

Sirius chuckled a little before pointing to another constellation and telling that story " that one is Vulpecula or more commonly known as The Little Fox constellation. It represents a fox holding a goose in its mouth, it was originally named Vulpecula et Anser, which means "the little fox with the goose" in Latin. The constellation represented a fox carrying a goose to Cerberus, the dog that guarded the entrance to the Underworld in Greek mythology". Sirius finished the story before looking down at Harry again, Sirius then leaned down and kissed the top of Harry's head.

Harry started to yawn, that's when Sirius decides that one more constellation then Harry has to go to bed. "There's the last constellation tonight," Sirius said before pointing up at the stars again.

"That one is called the Hydra, it's largest of the 88 constellations and was named after the Lernaean Hydra, the monster from the myth of Heracles' Twelve Labours. It is one of the Greek constellations, first documented in the 2nd century". Sirius finished as he stood up with a nearly sleeping Harry in his arms.

Sirius carefully got down from the roof and walked into Harry's room before tucking him in bed, he decided to stay with Harry for a while, so Sirius climbed into bed beside Harry, and they both ended up drifting off to sleep together.

Lily was getting frustrated because her son had now been missing for just over an hour, so she went to his room and was surprised to see him in his bed wrapped up in Sirius' leather jacket and was even more surprised to find Sirius sleeping next to him.

Lily careful left the room without waking them and eventually found James and took him to see Sirius and Harry before turning off the light and going to bed.

I hope you enjoyed this just as much as I enjoyed writing it. If there is anything that I could do better, I am always open for pointers. I'm also not going to lie but I enjoyed learning about all different constellations, and it was so hard to choose what ones to add, originally I only planned to add three but I couldn't decide so I added five instead, but I think it's better because you might learn something. After all, I know I did.

Always
